I am a longtime fan of Alba Botanica Acnedote Face and Body Scrub, so when I saw this at TJMaxx, I thought, “why not?”. The ingredients are different with the addition of Bentonite Clay. I like to use that ingredient for masks so I figured it would make a nice scrub! Turned out, I was not disappointed! I like the faint earthy, beachy smell to it. Almost like sand that has been baking in the sun all day long then drenched in sea water. Very gender-neutral. And it doesn’t come out of the container super fast like with the Acnedote Scrub, so you don’t have to worry nearly as much about wasting product. My skin feels very clean after I use this product, but not overly so to the point of being dry. like other scrubs I have tried. I especially like to scrub my back with this 🙂 It helps get rid of dead skin and since it is so gentle, it leaves my skin feeling super soft. Upon comparison, Acnedote’s tingly effect is not felt with the Hawaiian Detox Scrub (different ingredients, different effect).. But I find that this formula is very nice and I’m positive I’ll pick up another bottle in the future.

Honestly it an okay body scrub. It is not harsh at all, unless you use a lot of pressure. The pumice granules are present but it doesn’t irritate your skin, well in my case it didn’t. So far it is somewhat safe to use daily. I didn’t notice a scent but I could be my allergies are acting up. You have to rinse it very well or the pumice granules would make moisturizing a weird experience to say the least. Personally I would use this on the feet or hands for daily maintenance of a manicure/pedicure. The reason why I am so undecided on this product is because I tried a different charcoal based scrub that I adore even more than this. This scrub is not the right kind of scrubiness and a touch too loose in texture. This scrub is okay but once I finish this, I won’t repurchase at all.

This *body scrub* is part of Alba’s Hawaiian Detox line, which also has a body wash and facial skincare products. I plan on trying the body wash in the near future (currently loving Alba’s Honey Mango wash!).
Like all of the Alba body products I’ve tried, the scent is amazing. This one has a tropical vibe, but it’s very subtle and light. The texture of this scrub is sublime…not too thick or watery…and it lathers! The buffing beads are smooth and just the right size/amount to be effective and skin smoothing, but oh so gentle. You can use this scrub every day if you want!
Before purchasing this, I had just finished a bottle of Alba’s other new body scrub: Body in the Buff Firming Scrub in Espresso & Coffee Beans and I was very disappointed with it. The texture was so runny, where I would squeeze some in my hand and it would immediately start dripping onto the floor of the shower. So I would have to work quickly to apply it, but the buffing beads were too few to be effective. Anyways, I need to write a review for that awful scrub, but I would strongly recommend trying the Hawaiian Detox Frothy Scrub over the other!
