I received samples over the years. I don’t find joy in using this . It’s so weird . Much prefer st Ives , it’s scented , nice relaxing and I know what is going on with the beads

I’m all for chemical exfoliants but every once in a while (every 10-14 days) my thick, combination skin needs a good physical exfoliation.
This is a pretty average scrub. Exfoliates pretty well (but not as well as my favorite which has been recently discontinued).
The reason why I won’t buy it again is the cooling effect, which I hate. I should have read the ingredients list more carefully. It contains menthol- my bad. Well, what’s important to me that it doesn’t contain SLS so my allergy doesn’t flare up- but the cooling effect is not something I need or like. I wish companies would stop adding that ingredient to skincare products.
There are quite a few pros, of course:
– it makes my skin feel soft and clean,
– it’s not too harsh,
– didn’t dry out my skin,
– a small amount will last me for a long time
So if you don’t mind the cooling effect, you may like this product. Sadly my search for the perfect exfoliant continues.

This is a great product that does exactly what it says it will – exfoliate. The granules in this are very fine so you get a great scrub. I’ve used other products where the granules are too big and it was not as an effective of a scrub. This one feels like soft sand, but in a good way!
I use this twice a week especially if I notice dry patches or I want a deep clean feeling. It also leaves a tingle sensation after being rinsed off that I personally love. Plus at the price point you can’t go wrong!
It’s a simple, no frills product and one of my favorites. Totally recommend!

This scrub works well . I just don’t like that it contains menthol. I’m not a fan of the minty tingle. It’s not very expensive and it lasts a long time .

Another one my HG products that I’ve literally been using for well over 20 years that I completely forgot to review.
I LOVE this scrub, I use it about once a week on my face. I have to be careful not to overdue it because I have mild rosacea/sensitive skin – that somehow, is not aggravated by this scrub in the slightest. It is very gritty so you have to work gently if you’re sensitive. I follow up with Clinique’s Foaming Sonic cleanser and I can immediately see how smooth (almost shiny) my skin is after my shower, I’m a little red for 5-10 mins but afterwards, my skin looks great. The evening of exfoliating I use Paula’s Choice 2% BHA liquid to clear out my pores and I wake up plump, glowing skin. Wonderful stuff!

I’m not entirely sure if it is the one I purchased. The one I purchased is called Clinique exfoliating scrub super-exfoliate. It says “super-exfoliate” on the tube below “exfoliating scrub”. I checked my online order history with Clinique and their website says I bought the Exfoliating Scrub and I couldn’t find one called super-exfoliate there. So let me know if they aren’t the same product and also ignore what I’m about to say if you know for sure they are different products.
I absolutely hate this. I didn’t even know I can hate a product this much before this came along. I bought it because of all the positive reviews on Clinique’s website and also in the past I had good luck with the brand. It has a VERY strong peppermint scent that really stings my eyes. It feels like I’m putting cheap unnatural toothpaste on my face. Now I didn’t put it around my eyes. I don’t have sensitive eyes and generally I don’t hate peppermint scents. I like peppermint toothpastes, peppermint body products, and peppermint latte. But this thing is just a nightmare. The first time I used it. I put it on my face with my eyes open and it burned the crap out of my eyes. Funny thing, I looked up the ingredients on the back of the tube and there is no peppermint anything in it so I don’t understand where this scent comes from. After the first time, I kept trying it in the hope that I could get used to the scent. No, that didn’t happen. I bought this product last October so I did give it a fair shot. For five months, I kept trying it and kept hating it. Today after using it one last time, I decided to just get rid of it. I guess I can’t love everything.
As for the exfoliating side of things, it does exfoliate my skin and leaves a smooth feeling. However, I don’t think it is any different from other physical exfoliators. A drugstore exfoliator will give me the exact same results without burning my eyes.
P.S. I just noticed it actually says “100% fragrance free” on the back of the tube. So now I’m thinking maybe I got a bad one. Anyways, won’t be repurchasing.

I purchased Clinique exfoliating scrub super- exfoliant. This product left my skin feeling refreshed and smooth. Depending on how my skin is reacting I use product 1 a week and upon occasion if my skin looks dull 2x. I will scrub my face Monday evening and Thursday evening (occasionally 2x a week) and usually I will not apply any makeup to my face the next day to give my skin a break. If I am going somewhere or I will be photographed I will exfoliate with this product the night before that way my foundation applies beautifully. With this product a little goes a long way. I usually squeeze out a dab and mix equal parts of CeraVe (which I love) as a mixing agent to apply to the skin. This product is very fine however very coarse therefore I do suggest mixing with a mild soap to reduce the harshness. In addition, I love that it is fragrance free. At first this product appear to be very pricey however it lasts me 12 months. I would definitely recommend this product for those who do not have sensitive skin and I would definitely repurchase this product again this is one of the best scrubs that I have used.

I initially bought a tube of this for my husband, but I quickly appropriated it. We now each have our own tubes. I don’t use it every day, because that is too much for my skin, but I do like to use it every couple of days. It works fine on its own, and is effective enough to actually exfoliate without digging into the skin too much. I also like to mix in a little cleanser (like LRP) to give it a little more slip to glide over the skin, and it works well this way too. The packaging isn’t beautiful or ground-breaking, but it is sturdy and easy to squeeze the product out of. I like that it does not contain plastic-y exfoliants and that it is very inexpensive. This has become a staple for me.

This is a very good product. Its granules are small and dont feel harsh on my skin. There is basically no scent and it doesnt burn or scratch. I felt for the price its an excellent product. Great for anyone looking for a good scrub at a great price.

I have only used this three times but I can say that this is a great scrub for those with sensitive skin and reactive skin.
I have both, but also dry/combo skin. Enough dryness that I get flakes – which is because I use a BP acne gel treatment after washing my face to keep my skin clear. So, dry skin is inevitable for me. I also have acne scars, redness, and melasma, and am nearing 35, so my skin isn’t as fresh as I’d like it. An exfoliator seemed like the perfect “next” thing for me to add. But because my skin is SO SO sensitive to harsh scrubs/scents (anything), I barely EVER try new skin care products. Just too scared I’ll get a reaction.
Saw the positive reviews for this scrub on e.l.f. (only 47 reviews?) and nothing on here, so I took a major leap.
It’s great. You get a lot of product for the price, for sure. The walnut shell granules are very fine, but to me, I found them perfect for exfoliation. Not too small at all. Some people have stated that they like more “harsh” scrubs, but I thought this was PERFECT. I definitely felt the little scrubbies on my face. The consistency is very thick, so you don’t have to use very much (but it’s also cheap, $5.00), a light cream color, and barely scented at all. It’s a very light light light scent, very fresh – but VERY subtle. I’m 100% super sensitive to any fragrance in face products – so I can 100% say that the scent in this is so minor, you’ll think it’s from the apricot that is in the scrub. It’s perfect. It’s thick, spreads well over the face – and I found it to wash free from my face (no residue). I used it after wetting my face and washing my makeup off with my regular cleanser – and then went in with the scrub and was as gentle as I could be, since this already has scrubbies in the cleanser – then rinsed and followed it with just a LITTLE bit of my cleanser to make sure I got all the scrubbies rinsed off my face.
My face was soft, clean, not overdry at all. Not at all! I followed with my BP acne gel treatment – which was totally fine putting on my face after this scrub (benzoyl peroxide can burn – that should tell you how gentle this scrub really is) and then after my BP acne lotion dried, I followed with my regular nightly sensitive skin moisturizer.
I didn’t have any issues all night, my face felt fine and soft (but it normally does after I put moisturizer on, too) and I woke up and my face looked fresh. I wouldn’t say it was COMPLETELY changed or anything, but it did look a bit brighter and fresh. No breakouts – no rashes – no skin issues – NADA. Normally, since I am so sensitive with my skin, if I’m going to have issues with a product, it’s usually immediately or overnight – and I know. This scrub was 100% fine. I do think that the more you use this (2 times a week, possibly 3 spaced out since it’s so gentle) the more you will see results with your skin. So I think that not seeing a huge change the next day was typical – and that the more you use this, the more you’ll see brighter skin.
I use mine at night before bed, just because that’s when I put my moisturizer on and I want to make sure to have that on after something like an exfoliating scrub. It also allows my skin to repair while I’m sleeping – and be fresh for the next day. Just my routine. Other reviews said they liked to use it in the AM in the shower. All up to you, just make sure you moisturize after.
Great one from e.l.f.!
(ETA: I have used this religiously 3 days apart since end of February – and have had no issues with my sensitive skin and I LOVE THIS. I would say this is one of ELF’s best skin care products in this line. It’s such a great scrub, and makes my skin so soft, even my boyfriend can’t believe how soft it is (even after applying my acne BP gel and then my regular moisturizer). it’s great. It almost makes my skin PLUMP. For $5.00 – grab this for your skin routine!)

It works as an exfoliator but it gave me hives. Pretty sure it’s this product because it’s the only new thing I’ve introduced to my skincare and the only place I’ve gotten the hives is on my cheeks which is the only place I’ve exfoliated.

I LOVE this product! It’s great value for being so cheap. It smells great and my skin is always the smoothest after using this. It also has heaps of natural ingredients + is paraben free. The little scrubbing particles are much smaller than any I have seen before, probably about the same size as the ones in Proactiv… I think this is why the product works so well (: It also contains tea tree oil, which I find a bonus as I have problem skin.

Paraben free, made in NZ, really inexpensive, and it works so well! Much better than St Ives scrub – not so harsh but still manages to exfoliate incredibly well. I’d say this is the best scrub I’ve used. Will repurchase until I die.

Skinfood is a NZ brand that has a lot of natural ingridients and all there prodcuts are paraben free.this product includes tea tree oil, sweet almond oil, orange oil, aloe vera gel, manuka honey just some of the ingridients.this scrub is really nice it gives a good scrub but the bits arent to big ,it didnt dry my skin out but also left my oily skin feeling clean.i will have to purchase more of the skinfood products

I started off loving this product, but after continued use – usually once a week – it’s started to have a negative effect on my skin, leaving it very red, sore and irritated. My skin used to be able to tolerate Clinique products well, but over the last few months I’ve noticed this isn’t the case anymore and I’m starting to think they must have changed the formula of more than just the DDML.
This is a great product if you want something that finely exfoliates and leaves your skin feeling fresh and tingly (it has menthol in it, so be very careful not to get any in your eyes), but I would be cautious if you have sensitive skin – even if it’s oily – as I think this would be too much for it to handle.

Fantastic face exfoliator. I’ve been using it for almost 20 years and continue using it once a week, before my facial mask. If I find that my face looks dull, I use in the meantime and only in the mornings the 7-day scrub cream, which is lighter. For the moment… it’s a keeper!

Fantastic stuff. My skin tends to get dry patches and this exfoliating scrub is great at stripping away flakes and leaving my face baby soft. It’s fairly grainy but still very gentle, in my opinion, and the price is very reasonable for the quality, especially considering what a lot of comparable high-end exfoliating scrubs go for.
