Heather Silk is a satiny, cool toned berry/dark pink blush that sits beautifully on the skin. In the pan it looks pretty matte, but buffed onto the cheeks it does have a subtle glow. For me, this is the perfect “wintertime flush” blush.
If you haven’t had the chance to spend a short while with Heather Silk, you’re in luck. The right shade would include an old pink bra, which I love to wear all the time and get in layers, but by now I’m super discerning. Heather Silk is now one of the best finishes available on the market, so what have you thought of her?

Wow wow wow calm down you Heather silk. I see what you did there.
This is single-handedly the most pigmented item I own in my beauty bag. No kidding. It took the crown from Wnw’s Cherry Picking (the most reliable lipstick I ever, ever found and, in my personal charts, the others are far away from the 2nd and 3rd position) after an extreme experiment where I wore it on my hand, and a single strike lasted through 3 hot showers, 6 dish washings, many hands washed and gardening, for a total of 3 days. Just for a comparison.
I got it for only 2 euros in the sales box in one of my favourite drugstores along with Mellow Wine (reviewed elsewhere), and it was the last of its colour, so I had to bring it home with me even if I wasn’t convinced by the shade. But for 2 euros, there’s nothing to worry about if you want to experiment a bit.
So, boom! I dabbed a little (less than Mellow wine I was still in shock for that lighter shade’s pay off) and became a clown. Like, no training, no costume, no creepy jokes, that single cheek made me a full professional clown. Wow.
Aside from jokes, this is really the very own definition of impressive, wheter it’s positive or negative. I just stood there with a wide open mouth thinking like “Okay, how am I supposed to use this without losing my mind everyday for blending the s**t out of it?”. This is truly an issue if you don’t like spending more than 5-10 minutes. I had troubles in blending it with the Real techniques sponge, and that sponge blends everything except smoothies. It really took more time than I allow myself to spend on make up.
BUT! The colour looked kind of..flattering? Personally I’ve never dared to discover the fuchsia side of blushes, I always stuck on corals and baby pinks. But I got the strong feeling this will be lovely when my skin will turn to its normal colour (I’m freshly sun tanned) and will give a flush of health this winter. It will look quite fake, but I usually fail in giving a damn about it. I just have to figure out the fastest way of blending it and the correct movement to pick the littlest amount of powder from the box.
This will last ages unless the packaging cracks which is very likely when we speak about Wnw. But, even if I still didn’t try it on the long run, I’m sure I’ll never need to carry it around in the bag.

This blush can stand up against any MAC blush I have (and I own a lot). This was a first purchase for me, and I am amazed at the color, formula, and staying power of this lovely blush.
I tried this because I use Wet N Wild highlighter (I think it is actually marketed as a bronzer) in Reserve Your Cabana. I LOVE that powder and use it everyday on my cheekbones, just above my blush.
Will definitely be looking at more of the Wet N Wild line in the future 🙂
Leaving BB Cream, Composts All
My previous purchases also included this brush, So What, and BB Sample Cream. My really familiar with BB Cream is when I was beginning out in Benefit, I didn’t like how well it reflected the nuances of their cream. But being BB Cream is a different animal from what it used to be. And I actually love SPF32-XL, and it only does SPF28! Honestly I feel like this brush is the “biggest red lump” (I think I can add to the collection) I have ever gotten from BB Cream. I really like that color. Especially for over a year now, since I’m not so sure what to use on my lips with this blush.
One thing I didn’t like about BB Cream is it didn’t go so well with my lip products I own, so for my skincare routine, I added a little BB from 100% High Stick, then tried using It, Vino’s, Gel Clip, Effexor, and Wellness and on and on for 4 weeks and they looked wonderful. After the 4 weeks I decided not to use Allergy’s Therapeutic Balancing Eye Balm, I didn’t want to use it with Concealer.
First thing I did before doing the setup: I broke up my first batch of BB Cream products into 3 tubes to make them look my way. I then hung my picture up and put the first bowl in before putting the 2 smaller tubes in after I said “I’ve got two tubes of BB Cream this morning”. The third tube could either be just IUD caps or lip products and one brand that I already have. I then placed the 3 smaller tubes in the, fairly large, stash bag. When it got home it was all over with BB Cream still giving me that wrinkly glow in the eye without any coverage, but I do get shade from Concealer anyway. I added Concealer & Safety Mirror to get a blush, while my mini BB Oil pump unit was using Concealer for shade…
I’ll not say that concealer doesn’t have benefits, just in general. I actually still use makeup, but I’ve always liked it as a lip primer. By just putting a little BB in I seem to get this pinkish,

Love the color. Very pigmented! Good texture, smooth and not chalky. I really like that this is a matte color bc wnw always seems to put shimmer in everything. Can’t beat the price. I’ve done a lot of drugstore hauls lately and this was definitely one of the more mention worthy products I’ve brought home. Deducted this brand again for the packaging. It is light a convenient but no mirror so applying on the go would require another compact. And the product is such a thin layer that I would be afraid it would break in my purse or travel bag. Over all a good buy and I would repurchase.

I tried the Heathersilk blush and was not impressed. I had been searching for a dark pink that would compliment my skin and give me a sultry, night-on-the-town look. This was not the blush for me. It was streaky on my face and didn’t blend well. It was dark, but it was a dark/bright combination and upon application it had looked as if I had been smacked. I toned it down with light face powder to blend some of the brightness. I threw it away because I just couldn’t work with it. femme couture had a similar looking shade in their loose blush (sweet blush) that was more agreeable in terms of shade. I love Wet-n-Wild, but I personally did not like this blush.

Has a really nice pigmentation and is quite soft/buttery. I just broke mine, but will def. buy it again!
