   I wanted to love this blush so much but It’s so glittery! It isn’t something I notice in the morning when I’m applying but it really comes out when I’m under the lights at work. It isn’t subtle sparkles either. This is clearly large pieces of Mica on my face.

   The shade is lovely. I wanted a pastel pink that just looks good on my pale skin and was hoping this would be it. It looks promising in the pan, which is super cheap by the way, and the smell is wonderful as usual. I just wish that there wasn’t so much glitter!!

   For the price you pay this reminds me of something I’d give to a little girl just getting into cosmetics. Not for me

   I’m so sad that this is only LE. It’s my most favorite blush ever. It stay all day long, didn’t look cakey, amazing formula. But my most favorite is shade because I’m very pale. After I use this blush, my skin looks very natural, healthy and like I return from holiday where I spent all day outside and where I only rest….

   This is one of the very rare impulse buys that’s turned out to be a slam dunk winner for me. I’ll be honest, I’m a sucker for LE collections and who does LE better than Guerlain?….Exactly. So despite not being at all a fan of pink blushes (as opposed to pinky-nude or pinky-peach which I find more natural looking), I ordered this anyway. Oh, Guerlain. The things you drive me to do.

   The verdict? I really like this blush, way, way more than I thought I would. It’s a lovely soft petal pink, very delicate and spring-like. On my N15 complexion, this pulls ever so slightly cooler than warm but I think it could pull either way depending on your undertones. More on my thoughts below.

   FORMULA/FINISH:
   Guerlain has marketed this as a combination blush/highlighter but in my opinion, that’s all just ad copy hyperbole. This is a blush albeit a subtly luminous one – it’s not a highlighter. There’s the faintest trace of silvery shimmer in it but, speaking as someone who’s practically allergic to shimmer and frost, it’s super refined and elegant. You’d have to be very close up to your face to notice it. It did not emphasise my pores at all.

   SCENT:
   This has a strong candied violet sort of fragrance, similar to the other Guerlain Météorites Pearls and pressed powders. I would say it’s actually even more heavily scented than the standard Météorites Pearls. Something to keep in mind if you aren’t a fan of fragrance in your products. I rather like the Guerlain scent but yes, it’s a tad heavy.

   PIGMENTATION:
   This is definitely not the most pigmented blush out there and if your skin tone is is any darker than NC/NW30, I don’t think it would be likely to show up on you. I’m around N15 and I use a slightly denser blush brush with this one than I do with my other powder blushes, which are mainly from Surratt, Burberry, Givenchy and By Terry. For those blushes, which I have in more pigmented shades and which have softer textures, I prefer an airier brush like the Suqqu cheek or the Chikuhodo Z-4 (a little larger and denser than the wispy Suqqu).

   However, for the Happy Glow blush, I need something denser and firmer to pick up the pressed pigment – I find my Surratt cheek brush works well. I swirl the brush a few times over the powder, tap lightly against my wrist to shake off any excess shimmer and then sweep it lightly on the upper part of my cheeks. One pass is enough – I don’t need to build it up any more than that, otherwise I find it looks too rosy (when built up, the vibe is sort of Alpine shepherdess/Dutch milkmaid, definitely not my style but if you like a bucolic flush of pink, this is for you.)

   You can definitely build this up to your desired intensity so if on first swipe/first view of online swatches, it looks rather faint, don’t be put off. I have no problems with it showing up on me. That said, if you generally aren’t a fan of sheerer colours, I wouldn’t recommend this. However, if you prefer a buildable, virtually impossible to overdo formula that’s suitable for weekday mornings when you’re still half asleep, this is for you.

   PACKAGING:
   I’ll be honest, the packaging doesn’t wow me, and I think Guerlain could have made it a little more luxe, especially for the price. It’s very similar to the Voilettes pressed powder only the compact is made of pearly pink plastic instead. It’s actually very pretty but I’d prefer something weighted. Another thing to note: I’ve read online that some people have had issues with the blush pan detaching from the compact i.e. it was not properly glued on. I didn’t experience this but it’s worth keeping in mind.

   OVERALL THOUGHTS:
   While some aspects of the packaging could be improved, overall, I think Guerlain did a fantastic job with the Happy Glow blush! Seriously, the whole concept of a blush made out of their signature pressed Météorite pearls is genius and I’ve been wearing mine every day since I got it. I hope to see Guerlain bring out more of these blushes in the future!

   GRADE: A. (It would be A+ if not for the packaging.)

   *Since this is an LE product, I debated whether it was worthwhile to review this. However, it’s just so lovely that for those people still on the fence, hopefully this will help you make a decision! It’s still in stock at Nordstrom’s and other online retailers but I’d move sooner rather than later!
