You young’uns don’t know how good you have it. Back when I was your age, I had to drive over an hour to a mall near NYC to find a store that sold Benefit, or order by a 1 800 # thru a catalogue. Then I had to wait, sometimes more than a week, for it to arrive in the mail. I coveted the line much more then, probably because it was so hard to get. Today, other than the mascaras, a barely give it a glance.
Anyway, back then they only sold the original benetint, in a glass bottle, with a brush, a very liquid formula in a deep cool rose color. I loved it and purchased it several times, I think it was $18 and that seemed a lot for my budget then…but you know how it is! I won’t go into the very sad time I dropped a brand new bottle on my ceramic tile bathroom floor – but will say, it shattered like a bomb, I was totally traumatized, and that stuff stained the grout forever. I was never able to completely get it out. It stayed on my normal skin and lips very well too. This new lip stain, LoveTint, I’m not so sure about. First of all, it’s too warm of a red for me. A firey, orangey, very bright tomato red. I can make it work, but probably not the best color on me. Second, it doesn’t have a brush, it has a sponge wand, it seems like there is a lot less actual product in the bottle than Benetint, and the formula is a bit thicker. It has some staying power on my cheeks, but hardly at all on the lips. It fades quickly, and is completely gone after eating or drinking. Could be that because of the bright warm color, I’m applying a lot less, but I didn’t apply a lot of product with the original Benetint either, and that one seemed to stay on better. It dries VERY fast, so you have to move quickly to blend when applying it to the face. A tiny bit goes a long way as a blush, so that is good.
I’d like to try some of the other Benefit lip and cheek stains, but I won’t be buying this one again – I’ll look at other colors, and choose the ones with brushes.
