First, let’s start with the positive. Part of ColourPop’s Disney Designer Series, Floating Lights comes housed in an octagonal cardboard container printed with a picture of Rapunzel on the front. It also contains a mirror in case you ant to use it on to go. Thus, the packaging will attract those that collect Disney items and is pretty. And that’s where the positives end for me.
The color of the blush in the container is beautiful. It’s a very cool light pink. If it appeared that way on my skin, I would be thrilled. Unfortunately, it appeared as a medium-toned peach. I can only assume my skin chemistry oxidized the blush on contact. I’ve never had this happen with a powder blush. However, I see on the internet that it applied to others true to the color in the package. Just be aware that it can happen with this blush.
The other thing I was unhappy with was the feel of the blush. As I applied it with my brush (a Wayne Goss brush, the same brush I apply most of my powder blushes with), I noticed it felt much drier and more powdery than other blushes I typically use, to the extent that it felt like the powder granules were irritating my skin as I brushed them on. I noticed this about another ColourPop powder blush I received in this sample shipment, and I note that both of them were just released, so it’s not an issue of them being old and dried out. Perhaps this is just how ColourPop’s powder products are; I’ve never bought powder blush or eye shadow from them before. Either way, I’m used to powder blushes feeling much more creamy. The powder blushes I was using most recently were RBR and Tarte.
ETA: I tried the blush again after washing my blush brush to eliminate any contamination from other colors. That eliminated most of the problem. While the blush still does not apply true to pan color, it no longer appears a coral color on me. The color is acceptable. Thus, I changed my rating to twho lippies.
