This is a Limited Edition powder cheek color that comes in a pretty “pebble” silver compact with a mirror. Five percent of the sale price is donated to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, which helps take the sting out of the cost, at least it did for me. The pressed cake is embossed with an elephant and has a gold “overspray” that comes off as you wear off the top layer of blush. What remains is Chantecaille’s Fun color, a very pretty apricot. The compact is small. In fact, it’s the size you’d expect an eyeshadow to be, but this is meant to be a blush color. Just for “Fun,” I experimented with this as an eyeshadow as well as a blush and it works nicely both ways because it is a soft peachy hue that enhances blue eyes. In fact, I find good peach shadow a rarity; seems like a tricky color to get right. Rather than think of the size as stingy, I decided to view this shade as a portable multi-tasker, perfect for weekend excursions when I am traveling light.
$38 for the cheek pan already inside the refillable compact. There is a similar Wildlife Limited Edition blush in a dusty rose color for those who prefer wolves to elephants. The Wolf Cheek Shade is called Ella and it’s $40. Apparently wolves charge two dollars more than elephants.
I’d buy again if it’s still available when I run out, however; it is limited edition. A delightful splurge.
