Background info: My skin is combination, sensitive to most fragrance ingredients, golden yellow and olive undertones (NC37-40).
I saw this on the display at Nordie’s and just fell in love with the colour immediately. I hope it does become permanent. MAC describes this as a “coral pink” and it looks way brighter in real life than it does on their website (at least on my screen!) and also a bit redder. It does apply as a coral pink shade, not as scary bright as it is in the pan, and looks beautiful on cheeks and lips.
The pigmentation is in my opinion, perfect for this type of product, it’s not super intense (like ELF’s HD Cheek color) but can be easily built up. It starts out sheer with just a dab or two. On lips it can be built up or applied with a heavier hand to a medium-coverage/semi-opacity although you can see the shade of your own lips coming through. I use a touch of concealer around my lips to make it look more vivid if that’s the look I want that day – or apply lip balm on top to keep it more sheer. Very versatile. The finish is a natural matte, it’s creamy at first but dries to a soft non-powdery finish. If you have very oily skin you may need to apply some finishing or translucent powder on top to prevent oil breakthough.
For cheeks, as I mentioned above, I use two tiny pats and blend it out with a skunk brush or fingers. It looks like a gorgeous natural flush – definitely gives you a healthy youthful look. Most mornings I use MAC F&B foundation with a few dabs of Secret Admirer on lips and cheeks and I look like a cute little doll! Perfect pick-me-up in the mornings for a soft, healthy look. You will get compliments on this colour, I can almost guarantee it. It is feminine, bright but not in your face bold and works for all seasons.
The *only* complaint I have is longevity (on lips only). On cheeks this lasts at least 8 hours, and longer if I use a bit of powder. But on lips, even though it does leave behind a beautiful stain, I have always used Korean-brand stains which can barely be removed from lips even after eating and drinking. I know this isn’t a “staining” type product and it doesn’t claim to be super long-lasting so I won’t deduct points for that. Either way it lasts a few hours on my lips so long as I don’t eat anything greasy.
