MAC Cosmetics is responsible for the greatest blushes ever created. Soft, bold. Subtle, brilliant. MAC blushes give your look that punch and power that at once adds vibrancy and introduces delicate elegancy.
Whether you brush it on softly or pack it on lightly or layer it up gently or blend colors together nicely, it always looks good. The ease of use and less likelihood to go overboard makes it a win for people getting into blush for the first time; it can be a more or less foolproof blush particularly the Sheertone finish variety of blushes, unlike other brands of blushes that may require more knowledge of technique.
Part of the fun is just in the application by itself, swishing your brush in the product and laying it onto your skin feels very much the experience especially as it brightens up your face with color and vigor.
As a lover of blush, I love all the different colors and variety of finishes. For my dark complexion, the blushes that best complement my skin are Format (frost finish), Ambering Rose (sheertone finish), Peachtwist(sheertone finish), Raisin(matte finish), Fever (matte finish). Raisin is the most beautiful reddish terracotta; Fever is the sweetest burgundy pink; Format is a bronzey peachy pink; Ambering Rose is a soft reddish pink; and Peachtwist is a vibrant peach with gold flecks. Some other pretty, popular blushes that complement other skin tones are Blushbaby (soft pale pink color), Gingerly (bronze peach color), Melba (coral peach color) and Peaches (peach color). Even though Gingerly, Melba and Peaches may be better suited/complementary on other skin tones, I still use them and love them too but they require technique to finesse to my skin tone. Colors like Blushbaby, although stunning on women with pale complexions, would be too light for darker ones, so it’s best to try colors on your cheeks at the store if a person with any complexion wants to sample a color that may not be first recommended to them to see if they like it/if it works for them regardless.
The Frost finish adds a gorgeous highlight to the cheeks along with the color to make your skin flashy and next-level. The Sheertone finish is stunningly glowy and sheer with the color to make the skin look like the color of the blush is emanating directly from your skin. The Matte finish is bolder with a smooth, airbrushed finish.
The softness and texture of MAC Cosmetics blushes are unbeatable for me. The range and variety are top notch. The availability of colors that work for me is the best. Most ranges of blushes, both high end and drugstore, have limited availability of complementary shades even though I have tried many of them over the years. Nevertheless the number and range of MAC blushes is exceptional for everyone simply from the permanent line alone–add in all their limited edition lines over the years, MAC blushes are truly unbeatable too in this aspect. I am a true fan of these blushes from the look to the application, from the colors to the finishes, from the texture to the softness, from the range of possibilities to the packaging.

I absolutely adore Mac blushes. I have seven of them, and they are all so gorgeous. I find that they look perfect every time, are perfectly pigmented, and the satin finish is perfection. Wow that’s a lot of perfect, insert your own qualifiers if you will, that is what I think!

Very nice colour and it goes on well. I wear fleur power. Harmony can be used as a bronzer on light skin. Not streaky. I love that they’re fragrance free.

Recently, I have used Mac all powder ‘All’s good’ blush and I am in love with it. Its pigmentation is high and buildable, which I can use for regular and part wears. The staying power is also more than staying power of average blushes. You can check teh detailed review here: MAC All Powder Blush . I find it one of the beest blushes I have used so far. I will give its another shades a try soon !

I need a really good quality blush to stand up to my skin type. I have very fair, sensitive (cheap quality mica shimmer irritates), oily (blushes fade) AND acidic skin (blushes oxidise orange) so I need to buy what works. I’m really sorry to say that MAC fails badly on all levels. All the sheertones, mattes, satins and frosts I’ve brought go on blotchy, oxidise orange and then fade away after an hour or two. (I haven’t brought beauty powders or mineralize blushes so I couldn’t say about those). The frosts use cheap un-coated Mica and itch at my skin. A lot of the colors are way too sheer and/or glittery. Many are hard, dry and cakey and I find it hard to pick up enough color on the brush. Also, I actually think the color range here is poor. They don’t sell pale pinks, peaches or beiges in matte and satins that suit my pale coloring. To me the all look basically the same medium pinky browns and shimmery bronzes with slight changes. Based on performance I feel this sorely represents poor value for money.
Some Blushes I DO like are:
Rimmel “Santa Rose 001″ and” Bronze 041″ (excellent match for fair skin and reasonably priced at NZ $14)
Shiseido The Makeup (very silky and blend smoothly and comes with a super soft high quality brush in the compact)
Elizabeth Arden (the pigmented matte ones not the shimmers)
Paul & Joe Face Colors (blush/highlighter duos in adorable compacts, smooth satin glow no chunky glitter)
L’oreal True Match “Sandalwood Pink 120” and “Nude Pink 125” (blends smoothly and last all day)
Fyrinnae Loose Mineral Glow Blush in “Enchant” (a vibrant ripe peach shimmer that actually has a pigmented base underneath the shimmer so the color holds)
NARS mattes
EDIT: After saying mean things about these crappy MAC blushes I should find something nice to say for balance. I love the way the compacts make that sound when they *click* shut. Its the Apple effect heh heh.

My skin tone is shade NC15, so I’m very fair. I bought this blush in “peaches” and I absolutely adore it! Peach tones are my favorite for blush because it’s cute, playful and not too mature or overdone. It gives the perfect amount of color, it’s true to color, buildable and lasts all day. I just love it, even though it’s $24 for a little thing of blush – I would absolutely buy it again!

Purchased my first MAC blush in Peachykeen. Must say I’m very impressed! Works great on my pale skin to give my face a touch of color. Great for every day use-will definitely repurchase! 🙂

For the price, MAC powder blushes are great. They have vibrant, buildable colors and a good color selection. They do not oxidize on my and the colors stay true for most of the day. I have three shades currently, Prism, Rose Quartz (discontinued I think), and Pinch ‘O Peach. I have an NW 25 skintone.
