Good attributes are that it is non sparkly – hurrah!
It does lend a subtly beneficial appearance to the complexion. If you are wondering what the final mixed shade appears to be, it’s an incredibly light pinkish, brown.
The powder is finely milled, much finer than many however not quite as creamy and fine a texture as some of the more advanced powders from other brands. The Chantecaille bronzer’s texture is far better – not the HD one however – that is made from talc and corn starch and is sadly drying on the skin.
The brush is competent for generally applying to face. After picking up the colour, I apply to the back of my hand before the face, to ensure the colours have been properly mixed. The brush is not ideal for under the eyes, a pity because the shade is great for eliminating a reverse panda appearance from overly light concealer – necessary for disguising dark undereye circles.
A delicate small fan brush would be better for this.
My thoughts upon the general concept are mixed. Merely a gimmick or inspired?
It has to be said that all colours have elements of different shades to them, it’s just that they are presented to us in their unmixed form in most bronzers. Having said that – it’s such a satisfying swirl!
Can each colour be applied separately? Not with the wide, flat brush provided, it can’t!
The pink candy shade, for instance, would lack pigment as a stand alone blush. The rusty brown could be applied as an eye contour. The white? Possibly too flat a matte for highlighting.
This is a sensory experience, so what about the scent? It’s subtle, not as lovely as Guerlain but pleasant enough as a sugared almond.
Finally, let’s look at the packaging. It hasn’t broken! That’s expected for the price or should be, however my experience of Laura Mercier’s compacts are that they invariably end up losing a lid if they fall on the floor, so this is a reassuring plus.
I would buy it as a non essential but not quite HG.

This is an illuminating finishing powder in the same vein as Guerlain’s meteorites powder. Although the ads suggest it can be used as highlighter, blush, bronzer and eyeshadow, it really is not a substitute. On my Shiseido N2/Dior 020 skin, it barely shows up when used as a blush. It does give the skin an airbrushed look and accentuates the natural flush of my cheeks. However the browner shades work well as a subtle bronzer for very fair skin tones . The packaging is very elegant and functional which I prefer over Chanel & Dior’s compact. It even has plastic bits on the brush tray to hold the brush so it doesn’t fall out when opening the compact. I do like the powder and think it’s a fabulous choice for the no makeup natural look that’s very wearable in day to day life. If you prefer a product that can replace a traditional highlighter, blush & bronzer in one compact, then Chanel’s Coco Code Harmonies de Blush is a better option.

This is such a versatile powder. You can use it as a blush or as a highlighter, or even as an eye shadow (the brown shades). The powder is so finely milled and although it looks scary in the photos, it is not at all sparkly or shiny. It gives you skin a gorgeous glow. The packaging is beautiful. The brush is very soft and luxurious.
