I am from the brow plucking days. Sad, because when I look at my childhood and early teen photos, before I started tweezing, I had the exact brows that everyone lusts for today. Anyway, I never got too carried away, but with the years of tweezing and getting older, my brows are thinner than I’d like them to be.
I’ve tried quite a few higher end brow pencils, the most recent from Benefit (which I found to be a dry formula that is hard to work with) Turns out, this inexpensive drugstore one works the best. The “blonde” shade blends in perfectly and looks very natural, and lasts all day. I just touch up, really, I don’t like the obviously drawn on brow look. Because this mechanical pencil is so thin, you can actually make hair-like marks. My only negative is that I prefer pencils I can sharpen, they just seem to last longer….but I will definately repurchase.

I have the ultra slim brow pencil in the shade Medium Brown which is a neutral medium brown. This shade is almost a dupe for the Precisely My Brow by Benefit in the shade 3.5 Neutral Medium Brown. The Ultra Slim eyebrow pencil in the shade Deep Brown has neutral undertones and is slightly black brown side and it’s closer to the Anastasia Micro Brow in Medium Brown. For reference, I have NC20-25 (fair/light skin with yellow undertones and dark brown hair). The shade “Soft Brown” is warmer and a bit lighter than Medium Brown.
FORMULA& PIGMENTATION: The formula is dry and not waxy. It has enough pigmentation, it covers sparse areas and bold spots but due to the formula it doesn’t provide a ton of pigment with one swipe.
COMPARISONS: The formula and pigmentation reminds me of the Micro Brow by Anastasia and the Benefit Precisely my Brow. The FDFxEyelure was the exact opposite of this formula and pigmentation (super waxy, very pigmented). The It Cosmetics Brow Power (was a nightmare and drier/harder in texture…and don’t get me started on the “universal shade” because that’s a joke!).
It has good staying power and I personally have oily skin. The spoolie is thinner and shorter compared to the Benefit one.
ALL IN ALL, if you have light skin dark brown hair I would recommend the shade Medium Brown. You would be pleased with how slim and precise this pencil is and with its staying power. You might find it a bit too hard in texture, especially if you prefer softer more waxy formulas. The spoolie does the job but it could be improved. I think it definitely worths a try!
