I am surprised by how much I like this BB Cream (as I normally only use Cushion Compacts: Amore Pacific, Sulwhasoo, Hera). I bought this after reading the review from Asian Beauty Blogger Extraordinaire – Kerry of Skin & Tonics.
This BB Cream makes my skin look soft, smooth and “pore-less” (as my friend exclaimed, “What are you using? Your skin looks perfect, pore-less!”). Not a bad reaction for wearing this BB Cream on a hot & NYC sticky/humid day. As I rely on my color cushions for a “dew-y” look, this BB Cream is what I use when it’s unbearably hot/humid but I need to look polished.
My skin is very dry and this formula plays nicely with my skin. I had Dr. Jart’s Premium BB Cream in the past (1st time I bought skin make up when I was 46) but the Missha Super Aqua Snail BB Cream looks more natural/smooth on me. I also bought the Missha M Signature Real Complete BB Cream but I find the Missha Snail BB looks more natural on me.
Application: I use a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush (for buffing) to apply overall (as the Brush does not suck up product like a sponge) and AFTER the brush, I use a Laura Mercier’s Sponge to quickly go over, smooth out and make sure there are no “brush marks” on my face.
The price (on sale for $15 2x a year, reg. $29) is a steal for the quality (42% snail & SPF 30) and quantity (1.5 oz / 45 g). You need a pea size for your whole and face and it lasts all day. In comparison my Dr. Jart Premium is $39 + tax. I took a chance on the color but the Skin & Tonic website review was a perfect match for me.
INGREDIENTS:
Highlighted – Morus Alba Root – This is actually a Mulberry extract, and is used for its skin lightening properties.

It is difficult to find reviews for Asian Beauty Products on makeupalley ((I switched to mostly Korean skincare since 2014). I have to look for reviews on various blogs (which I never know if they are being SPONSORED/biased) or reddit where I have no idea what age or skin type they are.
I hope MORE people write reviews HERE as mua is my favorite resource for reviews (and negative reviews here do not get taken out like they do at sephora or any other commercial website).
I am 49 yrs old, Korean, with dry skin since my mid 40s (but had combo/oily skin before). People who work in skincare (dermatologists, plastic surgeon nurses, aestheticians, sales people at Bergdorf, Barneys, Saks) think I’m 28-34 so I try to take care of my skin.

I got a couple smaller sample-sized tubes of this BB cream last month, after store-hunting for it for ages! I really wanted to try this one because I like the Missha snail skincare line, and I was sure that I would love their snail BB cream as well.
TL;DR: I really, really love this BB cream and have already put in my order for the full-sized tube!
FINISH: I also tried the Missha M Perfect Cover in #21, which I really liked as well. Both of these have a flawless finish, but the Missha M looks more glowy, while this one is more of a satin finish, which I like sometimes. The Missha Snail BB does give your skin a slight glow as well, it’s definitely not matte – but it’s not as glowy as the Missha M, I’d say. I’m sure you can boost the glowiness by using the Missha BB Boomer underneath, too.
COVERAGE: This one has really good coverage! With one layer, I’d even say it has slightly better coverage than the Missha M. You have to be careful with layering with both products, though – don’t let it get cakey! Let the first layer settle in and add some concealer, and that’s usually enough.
CONSISTENCY: This snail BB smells pleasant, and the fragrance is very light – usually Missha BB creams (like many Korean BB creams) are VERY fragrant, but this one is much lighter than usual. I like it! It’s easy to blend; not too creamy, and not too watery, it’s a great in-between. It’s very hydrating on my skin, much more so than the Missha M. Probably due to the snail filtrate? ^^
BENEFITS: One of the main reasons I wanted to try the BB cream is that it had snail mucus in it!!! I’m a huge fan of snail mucus in skincare products, so the thought of being able to have snail mucus in my makeup, on top of my skin all day, made me very happy! And it’s paid off, too – every time I use the Missha Snail BB cream, my skin looks so nice only a few hours later, and it looks great by the end of the day. My blemishes, which pop up overnight, have always calmed down substantially after only a couple hours of wear. I think the snail cream in this BB is really very effective at pampering your skin – and this BB has much better, all-natural ingredients than other products in the Missha makeup lines.
PACKAGING: The 20ml sample bottles come in squeeze tubes, so the packaging is only okay – it’s hygienic, but still slightly messy (fingerprints get all over the tube, etc). The full-sized product is a tube with a pump, which I’m very excited about! It’s the same packaging as the Missha M, which I love. The tube-with-a-pump is my favorite kind of packaging for a BB cream so far – you have the lovely efficiency of the pump on the one hand, and you can also squeeze the tube to help use all the product up. Actually, I wouldn’t mind at all if the Western market took note of this kind of packaging – I’d love for more liquid foundations to be packaged like this!
OVERALL: Even though this doesn’t give me a SUPER dewy look that I like, it’s glowy enough to satisfy me, and the long-term effects of this BB has made me fall head over heels for it. It will be hard for me to deviate from this one for very long, so I don’t know if I can ever try new BB creams again! They will all pale in comparison now.

So first let me tell you about my skin: I have sensitive, combination skin, prone to clogged pores. I tend to break out from a lot of products, so I have to be very minimalistic about what I put on my face.
I normally use Mineral Foundation, but I wanted to try out a Korean BB Cream as I have heard so many raves about it and as I really like a dewy finish, which I sometimes miss with mineral foundation. This is my first BB Cream.
Claims: Super Aqua Cell Renew Snail BB Cream promises a fresh, natural glow as well as wrinkle repairing, whitening, and sun protection benefits.
+ very handy packaging (with a pump!)
+ SPF 30
+ a lot of promising skin-benefiting ingredients
– greyish looking color which makes me really pale in a dark kind of way (if that makes sense) {color inbetween #21 and #23 Missha Perfect Cover}
just generally not natural looking tint
– hard to blend, you can definitely tell that there is something on your skin
– difficult to remove (I had to rub my face with micellar water so much to get this off, leaving red, irritated skin)
This BB Cream really reminded me why I never use liquid or cream foundation. It’s just such a mess to blend and you’re always trying so hard to make it look natural but it won’t and you just start hating your real skin because everytime you remove your makeup it leaves red, irritated skin. I never have this problem with mineral foundation, as it will never leave streaks of color on my skin.
I can’t say anything about the skin-benefiting ingredients or long-term effects, as I’m not gonna use this product anymore.

This is my HG BB cream! This seriously gives you that angelic, petal-soft and perfect even-toned skin you see in ads. I bought this from Missha of course, after using their brow pencil (works wonders for black brows like mine that can’t find a match anywhere in most brands) it retails for $30 US regular price but was on sale for about $17-18 at the time I bought it. It has an SPF of 30, but I wear a separate sunscreen underneath as most people do not use enough BB cream to ensure the stated protection. This contains 42% snail mucin. I found this to be the most moisturising and “moist” appearing (non-drying, dewy finish) when compared to Cho Bo Yang, Perfect Cover, Signature Real and Shiny BB’s. It is lightweight, very skin-like, and the feel/texture is very similar to Dr. Jart with a dewier finish. Whenever I wear this I always get compliments on how beautiful my skin is, what skincare do I use? – of course it helps that my skin is good, but I still much prefer this compliment to “your make-up looks good”.
According to Missha ” helps brighten and even out skin tone for a beautiful complexion. Contains Snail Slime Extract and Baobab Extract to moisturize, soothe, and regenerate cells for healthy skin.”
First thing I noticed about this – the packaging is very pretty. . Yellowish-golden and silver gradient style. It’s a sturdy, hard pump bottle and not a soft tube like Missha’s Perfect Cover BB or Cho Bo Yang (which I also use and like), but this one looks cuter to me. It stands upright, very easy to take to work or travel since it’s not soft, so it won’t accidentally get smooshed and leak out all over the place.
The colour suits me very well now that my skin has lost its tan (yellow undertones, currently NC20 in MAC, Missha Perfect Cover BB in #21, and in other brands: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk in 4.5 and Dior DiorSkin in #21 Linen, Bobbi Brown Skin in 2.5). The Snail BB is about the same shade as Missha’s Perfect Cover BB in #23, only slightly darker than the #21. I really love Missha’s other BB’s – Cho Bo Yang and Perfect Cover – but find this even smoother, more natural, lightweight and easier to apply than both the other BB’s. Sadly it only comes in one colour which would probably suit most fair to the lightest of medium shades – no darker than NC25 and even that may be pushing it, but possibly workable. It can however be darkened with a bit of bronzing gel or a deeper foundation.
It does have a fresh, clean scent and while I do prefer fragrance-free cosmetics – this is not irritating for my sensitive skin. It can linger for a few minutes so if you hate fragrance this might not be a good choice for you. It has medium coverage, but can be sheered out or built up a bit, either way it is smooth and not cakey – it’s not like your typical Americanized “BB cream” with zero coverage. The finish on my skin basically looks like my own skin, I would call it satin or semi-matte with a soft glow, but not overly dewy and no shimmer. I don’t know if it really has any skincare benefits, I have been using it for a couple of months and do notice much softer and more even-toned skin when I wash this off which is nice but I take good care of my skin anyway and don’t rely on make-up for that. Mostly I just love wearing it! I can even use it under my eyes without any problems and it covers up my dark circles and any redness on my face. I buff this on with a foundation brush, stippling brush or my fingers and I’m out the door in 5 minutes, it’s easy to blend and doesn’t drag or streak. For a more sheer finish I apply with a damp sponge. I also mix this with Etude House’s Nymph Aura Volumer for a more glow-y finish. On oilier days I use powder to tone down shine.I have combo skin and have no issues with this making my skin oilier nor emphasizing dry patches so I think it can work for almost any skin type. It’s a bit light looking when you first apply/buff it in, then meshes really well with skin and blends perfectly to look natural. No line of demarcation and it doesn’t look or feel like thick caked on make-up. I use less than one pump per application so even though I use it daily I still have more than 75% left in the tube.
I can’t think of anything wrong or bad about this really aside from the lack of shade options as well as the long ingredient list which has some potentially irritating ingredients like lavendar extract and fragrance, even though it is almost at the bottom of the list and unlikely to be a problem, it’s still better to patch test than have problems later. I’d recommend this to anyone with fair to light-medium skin, who wants satin/somewhat dewy finish BB cream. It’s also available in a mini-tube which is great if you want to try it out before committing to the full size.
