This product is very blendable, although dries a little fast, and has light to medium coverage. I took off a lippie because it can look a little cakey and sort of look like it’s sitting on your skin if it’s not blended right. Otherwise, great affordable product!

My local store had a really good sale on NYC products. I pulled the first tube of the BB 5 in 1 off the shelf for inspection. Since it had no seal, I figured someone had already damaged the product. When I uncapped, I saw that someone had already squeezed it too, so I just dabbed the back of my hand, capped it, and put it back in the front of it’s row. The product smelled terrible, like glue. I rubbed it in and blew on it to avoid fumes. It stayed tacky and abrasive until I washed my hands at home. Even for $2, I wouldn’t buy this.

Like the previous reviewer, I have fair skin with a yellow undertone and bought this product in light – it is a very good match for my skin tone and blends very well without making me look as though I’ve caked foundation/tinted moisturizer on. I usually use this product instead of a foundation, although I have used it with powder on top for a fuller “evening” coverage (my powder is elf’s Flawless Face Powder in ivory) and it works well this way too. The powder blends easily on top of the BB Creme and stops my powder looking to dry or flaky. I apply this product by squeezing a little onto the back of my hand and applying it with a foundation brush (elf) as this stops me over doing it – you don’t need much of this product, and if you over apply, it could end up greasy. Using a brush ensures a light even coverage. This, paired with a little under eye concealer gives me a very even, natural looking complexion – a good base for light or dramatic make up, or just some lipgloss and go. Another thing I like about this product is that you get 30ml in the tube, and I’ve seen many larger looking pots with less product in them. This packaging doesn’t fool the eye into thinking there is more product than there is – it’s compact and efficient, there isn’t a huge glass bottle with 20ml cream inside. I will definitely re-purchase this product when I run out, it’s my go-to foundation and I have no desire to try a different brand or formula. This BB Creme is light, blends well, matches my skin tone, provides even coverage, is a great price (around $4) and works well alone or with a concealer or powder. I definitely recommend this product.

This is a pleasant little–and inexpensive–surprise. As I get older, I am finding that heavier foundations don’t wear very well on me any more. I still have the oily skin of my youth to some extent, but, well, there are LINES now where there weren’t before! Dang! I am having to reevaluate what works with my skin tone and texture. I have not gotten on the BB creme bandwagon; for all it’s worth, BBs and all the rest of that alphabet are tinted moisturizers, even the Asian ones. I lived in Japan for 10 years, an the significant thing in those potions is the sunscreen; many of the US wannabes lack sunscreen, so I don’t think that they could be called a BB cream in the “classic” sense.
That said, NYC’s version does not contain sunscreen, which is sort of why I picked it, because I can use my own sunscreen which I KNOW has broad spectrum protection. So few products actually do, which is sad. It does pay to read labels. The texture and finish of this BB reminds me of Paula’s Choice Barely There product, which sadly is being priced out of my ability to buy it. NYC’s is easy to blend, has sheer coverage that evens out skin tone in a subtle way. The product feels slightly wet and cooling as you blend, then it dries down to a subtle matte finish.
The shade I bought, light, is a nice truly neutral shade–no pink or orange at all. I am impressed by the wonderfully natural color this budget item is. For reference, I have fair skin with yellow undertones–in the NC15 range I believe. You can layer it a little for slightly more coverage, and add concealer where needed. It’s hot and humid now, so the oil breaks through after a while and I just blot. I have to do that anyway with most of the foundations in my rotation, except for my Almay TLC. I’m evaluating this product on how it performs/looks, and not on the inflated promises that all brands rely upon.
One significant plus to this version: it is fragrance free. I cannot stand fragrance in my makeup or skin care products. Fragrance isn’t skin care; and I wish the assault on our olfactory senses would just stop. But that’s my own bias.
I consider this a beauty bargain, because it’s easy to use, blend, doesn’t settle into fine lines, looks natural, is fragrance free, the tube is easy to use, and it’s less than $4. Yeah!
