This is my first BB cream and I’ve repurchased it twice after running out of the product. I liked it before I knew why, and it’s only after trying other BB creams that I knew why this is a very good BB cream. My skin is oily/combi and I live in hot and humid southeast asian climate. Outdoor, it might get a little shiny, but never frying-pan kind of oily; indoor it can stay matte on my skin for hours. I always use moisturiser underneath and I never top it off with any powder. Since it has SPF30 I don’t usually use it in combination with any sunscreen.
This product stays well for a whole day, indoor or outdoor, and at most I blot my face with tissue paper and that’s it (I never use oil-blotting paper). Coverage is medium to full, definitely better than many other BB creams I’ve tried (Dr Wu, Body Shop Vit E) and even comparable or even better than some high-end BB cream (Diorsnow). Great for day to day makeup, but for special functions I’d suggest topping it off with powder.
The only thing I don’t like is the tube packaging, because I travel often and this BB cream would be a mess inside the cap after every flight.

I’ve been using this as my foundation for 3 years. Has never caused me to breakout and it looks glowy and natural. I prefer the super light version, though.

I would repurchase this product, but I would hope they come up with a better tint for this long term.
The Pros:
-Great texture (relatively matte)
-Great smell
-Good brightening ingredients
-Good value (size is decent for a bb cream 1.7 fl. oz.)
The Cons:
-Grayish tint (very gray, requires a lot of blending)
-Not very moisturizing (will require a moisturizer underneath)

Just to clarify – this is for the Brightening Balm BB…NOT the Hydra Intensive BB
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH THAT…
I’ve been using this BB cream for about a year now and just repurchased my second tube (read below for details on why). Aside from this and a stick type foundation (that was dc’d), I’ve never repurchased a face product while being happy about it (anything I repurchased was only because I didn’t have time/money to experiment w/something new).
BOTTOM LINE: Everyone reacts differently to different products, but I feel that this one is worth trying for ANYONE with ANY SKIN TYPE. If you’re looking for broad range skin type, buildable coverage, and functionality (spf, arbutin, etc) I would highly recommend this.
If you want the details, read on…
My Skin: oily, but sensitive due to eczema, occasional acne, sun-damaged and hyperpigmented, fair/light by general standards, light/medium by asian standards
Environment: Hawaii so tropical/humid, mentioning this because my skin was quite different when I lived in NorCal
I’ve tried: foundations (too heavy), stick (my only other fav face product was d/c’d), powder foundation (didn’t last), mineral (Bare Essentials made me itch), powder pacts by itself in my younger days (not sufficient anymore)
Prescription meds: Epiduo (night), Acanya (morning), birth control, eczema creams as needed and varies depending on severity
MY STORY: see what I’ve tried above and that’s why
…I bought into the BB cream craze…
More comparisons:
The Face Shop Power Perfection was my first. It doesn’t claim to keep you matte and it didn’t but it didn’t seem to “slide off” and I felt it lasted okay, offered the coverage I was looking for BUT the darker shade (comes in 2) was still too light for me and if I didn’t apply it a certain way, my coworkers asked me if I was sick~!
Lioele Triple the Solution: too light coverage, light shade, didn’t last.
GOWOONSESANG: stumbled upon a couple reviews of Dr G and explored the brand. Was going to try the pore minimizing one but found a photo of color comparisons and opted for this one instead.
COVERAGE – medium, buildable w/o looking cakey (to a certain extent of course).
CONSISTANCY/TEXTURE – medium, creamy.
OIL-CONTROL – decent but you’ll still have to blot. I don’t have time to do that and get oily around hour 4/5, but not like frying pan status. Slightly shiny maybe? Keep in mind I do not set w/an oil free powder.
STAYING POWER – on my oily skin by itself depending on the day…at original coverage about 3-5 hrs , but at decreased coverage about 4-6 hrs. Used w/my TFS oil control essence + mixing w/the TFS BB cream about 85/15% (mixed on the back of my hand and then applied)…add about 2-4 hrs to those (I reapply if I have a dinner to go to).
COLOR/SHADE – I’m pretty typical asian yellow, warm undertone, hate looking orange/pink/gray/dead. This makes me look slightly lighter at first but it doesn’t seem that way as it settles. In pictures and direct sun, if applied only an hour or two prior, I look pale pale…but I attribute that to the fact that it has titanium oxide and zinc oxide (spf that reflects the sun) and I’m not going to sacrifice my sun protection. (side note* I add more spf at lunch)
FRAGRANCE – nothing noticeable to me.
Its claims on whitening/brightening – I can’t say as I use a retinoid for this
so in short…I LOVE THIS BB CREAM~!!!
At least enough to not spend money experimenting w/other face products. I do have other products I supplement with but this is my main product and will be as far as I can predict.
