I am really surprised at how much I like these 2-in1 lipsticks! I think NYC is a genius for creating the concept with two colors in the single tube, and the formula is amazing for a drugstore product! I’ve recently been craving the perfect light peachy-coral lip, and I was on the hunt for a dupe of YSL Peach Passion. When I saw the shade Rock A Fellas in the display at CVS I bought it immediately, because one of the sides was a perfect match to the YSL! Now my hunger is stifled, and I only spent $3! I definitely recommend these 🙂

This wasn’t the lipstick I was originally looking for (I wanted Wet ‘n’ Wild in Cherry Bomb), but a similar color. I wanted to try a purplish red color, so I got this lipstick in The Penthouse Plums.
While in concept this lipstick design is a good idea, the application of it is kind of awkward. It is also pretty sloppy to apply… it leaves streaks. It fades unevenly too, so reapplication is necessary.
I’m not too fond of the square packaging either. It makes it kind of bulky to store/take with you on-the-go.
I’ll use this up, but I won’t buy again and I don’t recommend it.
EDIT: I’ve realized if you apply lip balm before you put this lipstick on, it won’t fade as weirdly.

I saw this Halloween duo and had to get it. The look is amazing – one side of the lipstick is black and the other side is red. The black is used to line the lips with the red inside. NYC lipsticks in general are very greasy and the taste and smell are not the best – almost a lanolin type of smell, but this is a very “different” look and would be fabulous for Halloween. It is dramatic and beautiful. The Halloween display also includes black/red nail polishes and a two sided eyeliner in black and red.
I love the idea of a two sided lipstick and will be getting more in the Duet line if I can find them. The worst thing about their lipsticks is the packaging. To remove the outer plastic casing is difficult, as it is fully glued on. You can’t even cut through it at the cap line. Once you get it off, the lipstick tube remains covered in sticky residue. But for the low price and the fact that this duo isn’t made by anyone else, I can tolerate this poor packaging. I love this black-red look.
