Can you say love?? The effects of this mascara are beautiful. It makes my lashes long, volumized and defined. It’s completely travel-friendly; you don’t have to put it in your declared liquids/gels bag, which frees up more room for your other items. 🙂 The packaging is quite large; the compact is nearly the size of my hand but the cake isn’t that large, though I wish it were. Also, I don’t care for the two mascara spoolies that come with it. This type of mascara really works best with those weird toothbrush-type brushes, so I just use a brow brush for application.
It’s not waterproof, but i haven’t experienced the “scary running mascara face” when I sneeze or my eyes randomly water. It does smudge a bit, but that’s not a huge problem considering what it does. I’ve also tried it with Fix+, and that works well too. I haven’t tried it with an eyeliner sealer yet, but I’ll update when I do.

When I first got this I was really excited to be using a cake mascara and had a bit of a honeymoon period with it. The packaging is really old school Hollywood glamour and it is much better than tube mascaras. Allowing for much more control of look, being much less clumpy and I’m sure lasting much longer.
I then started to notice things I don’t like that much about it. The brushes you get with it slightly defeat the purpose of buying a cake mascara as they are normal tube mascara brushes not the little toothbrush ones that work much better with cakes. Also, the formulation can be a little lumpy and waxy and isn’t at all water resistant. It also really stings my eyes if I get any in them.
I just got the Longcils Bronzca cake mascara which is much better in formulation and brush so I won’t be using this one anymore unless in an emergency.
In summary, cheap and quite good but I would invest in a different brush (one of those toothbrushy eyebrow ones) to get the best effect. If you don’t mind spending a bit I’d get the Longcils cake mascara instead. If you’re based in the UK you can get it for about 12 quid compared to 8 for this one.

THE BOMB! Sorry, I did not mean to yell, but this mascara is un-be-lieve-a-ble! It is everything I want in a mascara, cake or otherwise. I mix in 2 drops of generic sterile Visine as the liquid, then swirl the supplied (they sent two) spooly brush in the cake after letting it sit a minute or two to soften. I applied it by first bending the spooly brush to make it an offset angle (think the numeral 7!) and just brushed it on until I was satisfied with the results. Bending the brush made a BIG difference in application! I got soft, dark, thick lashes with absolutely no clumping, flaking or spidery looking fringe. It is natural looking but can be made more dramatic if you wish. Honestly, this is what I was hoping Longcils Boncza was going to be and it’s a fraction of the price! I wish I had tried it sooner! It’s not waterproof, but I do find that it is very wearable and lasts the entire day. I don’t think I’ll go back to tube mascara any time soon if I ever do!
