   I quite like this lotion for use on the arms and elbows (pretty much the only place I apply lotions).

   TEXTURE. This is a thick gluey lotion, of the sort that, if it were housed in an upended ketchup bottle, would take a longer time than most drugstore or cheap (Bath and Body Works) lotions to make its way down. However, it IS a lotion; if you are looking for a shea butter cream, you should try L’Occitane’s 25% formula, which is suitably even thicker.

   SCENT. I’m not too keen on the scent. It is a bit too powdery for my liking. I like sweet scents only when they are linked to fruit smells; this is more of the sweetness of body care products that claim they are “Milk” scented (my good old 2% and skim don’t smell of almonds and baby powder, I assure you!)

   EFFECTS. I was impressed with the effects of this when I reached down one evening and felt my elbows and the backs of my biceps and was surprised by their plump, dewey texture. Then I realized that I had applied this lotion a few hours earlier (the heat of the day also accounted for the moistness).

   Do be aware that in humid hot climates, the lotion may remain a bit tacky or moist on the skin, but not irritatingly so (at least not for me, and I normally hate lotions I can “feel” throughout the hot day).

   After I started using the Shea butter hand cream, I went on to buy almost everything in the body line.

   I picked this a few months ago when southern China was experiencing a very bad winter. I bought this back home in Malaysia where it is much cheaper.

   I had wanted the 25% ultra rich body cream but they had just run out of stock so I bought this instead. I was already using the 5% extra gentle version for the body but it wasn’t quite enough.

   Smell: Pretty much the same as everything in the line, Shea buttery. Some like it, some call it grandma. I like it. It doesn’t hang around too long.

   Texture: It is a thick liquid but doesn’t have a problem getting spread around effectively even in the frigid apartments of Shanghai (it can fall below 10C indoors) so most users shouldn’t have spreadability issue.

   Protection: It keep my skin hydrated for up to two days in the event I don’t hit the showers before then. It gives a beautiful sheen once absorbed. When it is cold, it might take a few minutes for ur body heat to even out this lotion. But once it melts into your skin, you’ll get a beautiful pearly glow, like a glowing tan, minus the tan. Some would call it waxy, but I find the finish quite velvety. After using this for a month or two, I find that my dry skin does a good job looking healthy for a day or two even if I don’t use any lotion. So it does seem to have a strenghening effect on skin.

   As a self-confessed beauty junkie, it’s hard to keep faithful to one product, but like their hand cream, this one is a keeper. I don’t think I’ll need the richer version now that I have this. I use it almost every day for 3 months and I’m halfway down the bottle. I’ll let you be the judge of its value.

   I would bathe in this stuff, if I could. I love this lotion. It is somewhat rich – it isn’t as thin as the (usually BBW) lotions that I am used to, so it doesn’t spread as much, but it absorbs quite quickly and is not greasy. I absolutely love the scent, although it is not strong and I have a hard time describing it. I especially love using this on my hands – it leaves them very soft and almost with a powdery finish (and -slightly embarrassing, but – I can keep sniffing my hands to enjoy the scent). I will definitely be buying this again and trying more products in the shea line.
