   Worst eyelash curler I have ever purchased and used. No matter what I do, I can never get all my lashes curled. And I can never get a decent, eye-opening curl with this eyelash curler. I also hate how I have to heat it up and it still doesn’t give me a decent curl. Save your money and avoid this product at all costs. Very disappointed at a respected company like Tweezerman for this product.

   I tried this about 5 years ago and I hated it. It didn’t curl my lashes at all, and I felt like I couldn’t see what I was doing because it is so bulky. I decided to pick it up again because metal lash curlers always left a dark mark on my skin from the metal wearing overtime, and sometimes pinched my skin. I think the main reason why this curler does nothing for a lot of people is because the pad is too soft. I replaced the original pad with a firmer one, and I was able to get a decent curl using no more work than when using a regular metal curler. I was still able to get an OK curl with the pad it comes with though. I would recommend swapping the pad if you don’t like it and still have it laying around!

   Love this thing cept for the bulkiness! I actually don’t mind the plastic since that allows me to heat it up a bit for a better curl. I have really short lashes and almond eyes. I could not for the life of me use curlers with the sides. They always pinched me and I could never get close enough.
   I had a side-less one from Revlon ages ago that was full metal but it got discontinued so I couldn’t get replacement pads… Ever since then I’ve been trying to find a curler without the sides so I could get to my dang lashes. Finally, I found this at Sally’s and made sure I bought an extra pack of cushions LOL
   I don’t press hard and still get a nice curl 🙂

   Reeeaaallllyyy surprised by the bad reviews because I LOVE this thing!

   My eyeballs:
   I have deep set almond eyes, and short useless lashes. The mere sight of those evil metal curlers makes my eyes water – they pinch my delicate little eyelid skin! So I bought this product many moons ago specifically due to the ‘open’ design (no side bars). And amazingly, this thing cost a few bucks and continues to be inexpensive, around $12 at DJs. (Dear North Americans, in Australia all cosmetic and related products are like 300% more expensive than in the states, waaa). I have repurchased this about 3 times in the last 10+ years.

   How I use this thing:
   1. Lashes are clean and pre-makeup-application.
   2. I do a deep crease at the base of my lashes, then do some little pumps of the curler towards the outer corner of my eye, and finally a GENTLE pull to release any loose lashes (I have lash in eyeball fear).

   Please note: Once upon a time I used to HEAT the curler with my hair dryer to get more dramatic curl, I think that’s why I have gone through 3 of these (eventually the plastic snapped at the neck after a few years). I actually do not find this is necessary now that I’m using a mascara that holds a super curl – ‘Better Than Sex’ by Too Faced.

   Good stuff:
   1. No side-bar things to pinch eyelids.
   2. Nice deep eye rest thing at a useful angle – this lets me get RIGHT to the base of my lashes.
   3. Cheap as for something that isn’t a piece of junk, hello!
   4. Comes with 2 spare silicone pads. I think I have about 8 of these now as I never change it, haven’t felt the need.
   5. Is plastic, somehow this is appealing when I am clamping shut full pressure near my eyeball.

   Bad stuff:
   Doesn’t give neck rubs or make dinner.

   I bought this specific curler due to the famed Tweezerman name. I was excited to try it. I was disappointed at first because I felt the lash pad didn’t seem to sit high enough in place to really make a curl. I put it aside a bit then tried with the pad from amother curler and now I really get a great curl! I think perhaps others that found this sub bar may agree if they tried this. The curler itself is actually quite sturdy and well made. I have used many curlers over my time (!!!) From name brand to a dollar store one I loved, a pink and green one by Maybelline, had a nice Revlon yrs back, ELF too which unlike many, I hated, didn’t close easily, you really must exert pressure to work with it. I have a heated curler too and one that is a sort of flip top variety. This is my current favorite, the open sides don’t crimp my skin and I have not lost any lashes. A curler should come with a pad that suits it, and is ready for use. That said, if you have bought this, mine was about $12.00, not Shisedo costly but not ELF cheap, try it with another curler pad. Mine works very well nown if I “walk” it up my lashes I get a very good curl!

   Oh my, do I hate this thing.

   I had a tweezerman eyelash curler in the mid-90s that was blue and it was awesome. I threw it away in a fit of cleaning and suffered through various metal curlers until I decided to buy another tweezerman. This one, however, is clear and it sucks.

   1. It pinches
   2. It crimps unless you shove it so close to your eye that it pinches
   3. It doesn’t curl

   My left lashes have a permanent weird bend from this piece of crap. As soon as I can determine which brand doesn’t suck I’m going to pitch this sucker.

   P.S. About three days after I wrote this the piece of crap broke in my hand while I was using it. It must have known I was talking smack about it.

   I really like this curler, but the trick is to not squeeze the heck out of it when you curl your lashes! Yes, it creates a crimp, but that’s from using way too much pressure. It works best when you heat it for a few seconds with your hair dryer and use A LITTLE bit of pressure. Let it sit for a few seconds. You can even out your curl too, just change positions of your curler on your lashes… Play around with it! Don’t be so quick to chuck it in the bin! The only downside is of course the bulkiness, but whatever.

   I love tweezerman products so when I found this in an eyekit that had a tweezer and a eyelash comb and the mini edge curler I snatched it up.

   I was super dissapointed. This curler did not fit my eye shape at all. It did a mediocre job curling and since it didn’t fit the lashes were not curled in the same spot across the eye (if that makes sense).

   If you have flatter eyes this may be for you, but if most metal eyelash curlers fit your eyeshape this will not.

   WARNING: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT

   The whole point of buying this product in the first place was so that I could find a replacement for my beloved Sonia Kashuk eyelash curler. I’ve been trying for months to find replacement pads for it, with no luck. I even bought a package of generic ones that claimed they fit most regular eyelash curler brands, but they didn’t. I’m stuck with those.

   This purchase is a classic case of me jumping the gun and not checking reviews on MUA first like I usually do. I bought this at Sally Beauty Supply for about $12. I thought it strange that it was plastic, but didn’t think twice about it. Got it home and did a test run and was instantly disappointed. The device is so large and bulky that a. I cannot actually ‘see’ my eye to be able to find my lashes, and b. does not actually curl my lashes when I eventually find them. I’ve read several reviews where people said that it crimped their lashes. It didn’t even bestow a meager crimp on my lashes. It made them straighter than when I first started and I am absolutely terrified to use this product because I fear that it will curl my eyeball.

   I”m embarrassed to go back to Sally to return it, so I put it in the donation bag. The silicone pads that come with the curler are much bigger and thicker than most (what about this product isn’t, eh?), but I seem to be able to trim them a bit to fit into my Sonia Kashuk curler, and they seem to work fine. I also purchased a refill set of silicone pads when purchasing the curler. So, as long as my SK curler holds its own, I shouldn’t have to worry about buying refills or a new curler for quite awhile.

    I am surprised by the negative reviews for this curler.
    I purchased this b/c I saw a similar one (possibly the same one) on the very first beauty video that MichellePhan from Youtube made.
    It has no sidebars, or w/e they’re called, so I don’t get pinched on the outer or inner corner of my eye, but it isn’t wide enough to cover all my lashes, and there are some often left out either in the inner or outer corner. I sometimes choose the outer corner to curl and leave the inner lashes b/c they’re tiny anyway.
    The silicone pad curls my lashes very well, but b/c it’s silicone it also needs to be replaced more often than rubber, since it’s so soft and using it frequently puts a dent in it.
    I am looking forward to trying out Shu Uemura’s lash curler, since it is so famous, and since this plastic lash curler is actually pretty expensive, although it does come w/ replacements (it used to be ~$6.49 at Sally’s Beauty, it has now become $8.49).
