   the shape is whatever, didn’t help much and was more awkward than a normal pen for me personally

   for me the issue was how patchy and crappy this looked and how quickly it dried

   no thanks.

   The design of the bottle might have helped a little bit with getting a better line. I like to lay my finger on the long end that reaches up to the felt tip so my finger points at the area I want to line.

   However, the formula isn’t as heavily pigmented as others out there.
   It fades on the outer eye edge with time.

   I did long winged eyeliner one day, and I have side bangs. By the end of the day, that wing behind my bangs had completely faded off.

   It needs a stronger hold, and heavier pigment.

   Not too impressed with this. I thought the ergonomic design was nice but application was a let down. First, it’s not a rich deep opaque black when it dries. Secondly, it applies pretty easily from my inner eye to the outer but when I tried to extend past that to make a mini cat eye, it dragged and the line looked jagged. I use the my wet n’ wild gel liner and never have this problem. I’m going to return and may try the Physician’s Formula liner.

   This product seems to be the same formula as Milani’s normal liquid liner, just put into a different packaging/applicator. If you are used to using brushes, this applicator will be awkward and difficult for you, and not make any significant difference in your end result.

   I bought this product because I have unsteady hands, and have always had a hard time getting the desired level of precision and thickness when using traditional eyeliner brushes. I’ve found that this applicator does not make things any easier, but might have done so for me 10 years ago, when I had never held a brush in my hands before.

   This would be a great introduction to eyeliner for the makeup novice, but to users that still struggle (even after years of practice) with getting that perfect line, this product just falls short of its claims. I have bumped it up to two stars because the formula is the same fantastic one used in other Milani eyeliners–but don’t be fooled. The “experienced” user will find this applicator to be a hindrance, rather than an aid, in their makeup routine.

   Tip: If you want more precision in your lines than you’re getting from a straight brush (or any of the straight applicators that come with most liquid liners), I would recommend Sonia Kashuk’s bent eyeliner brush. It uses the same concept, but at a lower price point than Milani’s “Eye Tech Perfection,” and with a much less unweildy design.

   Have you had your eye on NYX’s The Curve liner but haven’t purchased it because that $15 price point seems a little high? Well good news, because this $8 liner isn’t just kinda like The Curve, it’s the same product. So much so that I wouldn’t even call these products “dupes,” because I’m pretty sure that the plastic pen exterior (and possibly even the lining fluid inside since both formulas contain the same 13 ingredients!) for both products is manufactured by the same third party company. Dupe is a word that I use for products that were developed independently (even if one was developed with the other in mind), not single products sold under the branding of more than one company. Because if you were to scrub the printed white logos from both liners, the pens would be completely indistinguishable from on another.. Same goes for the Sephora brand Smart Liner ($14) btw. So unless Milani is just hard to find where you live, there’s no reason at all to buy this liner from NYX or Sephora.

   Anyway, onto my review of the actual product! This liquid liner comes in a curved applicator that’s ergonomically shaped to comfortably fit your hand. The curve of the pen body stabilizes itself along your palm. This makes this liner a great choice for people who have had trouble with liquid liner because of unsteady fingers or confusion over how best to hold the applicator during application. This liner not only feels very natural in the hand, it fits both right and left hands equally well!

   The lining fluid is water based, with dark, even pigmentation. The fine felt tip applicator is firm without being hard, so it draws on the lids easily without poking, dragging or tugging. It dries very fast and is capable of drawing a very fine line (to get the thinnest line possible hold the pin so that the tip is perpendicular to your lid. Decrease the angle between the pen and your face to thicken the line). And while I don’t have any problems with it smudging on my oily lids it’s not waterproof. When allergies or fatigue have my eyes watering and I start rubbing my eyes, the liner can rub off. Haven’t experienced it smearing or running though, which is good news! I usually can get at least 12 hours out of it before it starts to fade at the corners, and it sticks around along my lashline for at least a few hours more.

   All and all great liner at a great price! I just wish it came in additional colors! This deep black is very nice, but I’d love to see a navy or a brown added to the line!
