I really enjoy this cleansing oil – I finished my entire bottle, and would repurchase if it was more readily available (Canada). I use this as my first cleanse/makeup removal, and I follow with a second gentle cleanser as I have been a nightly double-cleanse person for many years. This oil completely removes my full face of makeup, including eye area and long wearing makeup (KVD tattoo liner, waterproof mascara). It’s lightly fragranced (I personally don’t find it too heavy for a product that is washed off) and a nice texture that can be used for facial massage while cleansing. It also rinses clean, but does not dry out my skin at all when followed with my usual skincare routine. I spray the product into my hand rather than directly onto my face, so the utility of the spritz bottle is a bit lost on me, but it’s a very nice sturdy (non-leaking) packaging with a fine, even mist – so I won’t fault it for that. I use about 5-6 sprays for my whole face including eyes, which concerned me at first as I thought I would go through the bottle very quickly, but it’s actually just because the mist is quite fine. With nightly use, the bottle lasted several months. And it’s inexpensive to boot.

After recently discovering how great cleansing oils are, I was really keen to give this a go especially as Kiko’s make-up is second to none when it comes to quality and price. Unfortunately my experience with this was not a good one…
Unlike other cleansing oils I’ve used, this was very dry and in turn drying on the skin, which surprised me because the bottle claims it’s for normal to dry skin. In order to remove even the simplest of eye makeup, I had to use at least 4 soaked cotton pads per eye but because it’s a dry oil it really irritated my skin and made the sensitive skin around my eyes incredibly sore. Again, this concerns me when you consider the skin type it’s aimed at – I certainly wouldn’t recommend using this if you have dry skin as it was way too drying for my oily/combination skin. I can only imagine what havoc it would play for those us with skin requiring a bit more moisture.
The scent of this isn’t nice either – it has a heavy, floral aroma to it which when you’re using as much as I had to, can become quite nauseating. As a result I used this for a week and then threw the rest away, deciding to go back to my tried and trusted eye makeup remover that’s not oil based.
This cost me £7.00, but I actually think that it’s too expensive considering how disappointing it is to use. You can definitely get better quality cleansing oils for the same or slightly more, which won’t strip your skin or smell like an old lady’s handbag!
