I bought this thinking since this product only had 4 ingredients that it would be better. It did clear my acne significantly in the first three days but then it broke me out even more. It took me 2 bloddy weeks for the reaction to go away. At least now I know I’m sensitive to concentrated amounts of salicylic acid. I would so not purchase this product again.

I have been using this face wash for about 6 years now. NO LIE! I had very troubled skin with acne and redness, you name it. I tried everything. Proactive was wonderful for about 6 months until one morning i woke up with such swollen skin that I couldn’t even open my eyes. NEXT! This is what I came across. I was in Sears of all places in their natural herbal department and there was the whole DermaMed line. I purchased this and the gel stuff in the tube as well. My doctor always told me to wait 3 months until you move on to the next thing because you have to give it a fair chance to work. I didnt see much until about month 2. ITS A MIRACLE. Honestly, one of the worst things as a teenager is bad skin on yourself. Especially for a woman, I was SO HAPPY. I still recommend this stuff almost on a weekly basis. It works. Yes, it burns your eyes like no tomorrow. Don’t get it in your eyes then! I use it every day, but only once at night to remove the day and makeup. Using it in the morning would be too drying and honestly not necessary. Sometimes if i had a cake face on, I repeat with a second wash. Rinse well with water and I still use Neostrata Level 2 Acne Toner after that(ALSO GOING ON 6 YEARS OF USE). I have SUCH dry skin naturally and this has probably even made it a little worse. But I do a coat of Clarins Face Oil for dehydrated skin once a week before bed as a treatment.
Theres a difference between “non-drying” and “gentle”. This is considered gentle. It is drying. But IT WORKS. So make up for the moisture elsewhere. Like I said, 6 years, going strong. Have tried to think I can replace it, and never can. If I ever find out this product is going off market, I am buying enough bottles to last me the rest of my life.

this is the best face wash I’ve used so far. I’m always on the search for something better but I always find myself coming back to this one. its perfect for my sensitive skin because it doesn’t contain a ton of ingredients and you actually know what you’re putting on your face. my skin is on the oily side so it balances it out without over drying it. I don’t really have any complaints other than it is a bit runny, but if it does the job who cares. I know I can reach for this face wash whenever I’m having breakouts and trust it to do its job.

I’m 19 years old with pretty dry acne prone skin. I really wanted this face wash to work for me because I’ve been struggling to find something to clear up my acne. I used this face wash about 3 times and noticed my skin was completely dried out. I ended up getting a very dry and painful rash on my face that started around my nose and mouth and spread to my cheeks, forehead, and neck.It took about a week for this rash to go away.. very embarrassing!
My pharmacist said that this face wash could have BURNED my skin! I have used other face washes with the same ingredients and have never had this problem. Just a warning to those who have a similar skin type! If you feel your face drying out, stop using it immediately!
Really disappointed this face wash didn’t work for me!

I have been on a search for a more natural cleanser and I think I have found my product!
Every couple years I get anxious to try find something more natural and SIMPLIFY my routine. Again, I want to get away from so many harmful chemicals.
No fancy labels and hard to pronounce ingredients here. I noticed it because it was in the Acne section and was bright green in a clear bottle. I spent a small fortune ($300) in the last month on more “natural” products – Dermae, Desert Essence, Andalou, Avalon Organics Vit C. Within 1-2 uses, they either broke me out of dried me out. Like an idiot, I didn’t just buy their cleanser, I bought the scrub or moisturizer too. UGH. When will I learn?
Well after the $300, I thought, “what’s another $30?” so I bought this Acne Wash ($15) WITH the Acne Prone Gel ($18?) (small, not the large). It has been a week and I think *fingers crossed* this is “THE ONE.” I only found it in one health food store (and I go to 4 regularly) – Noah’s at Eglinton. Typically my skin does better with Glycolic acid rather than Sailysylic acid, but it has been almost a week and the breakouts I had are healing quickly and disappearing. Hello! AND NO NEW BREAKOUTS. 🙂
I use the Wash morn and night, followed with Thayers original toner and then the Dermamed Acne Prone Gel (this gel is a carmel colour watery lotion actually and does not smell too bad once dried). I lightly massage one dime size of the green cleanser wash for 1 min all over my face using my fingers. At night, I use a natural bristle brush instead of fingers to exfoliate and remove makeup. (I use either a drop of EVOO to take off mascara and eyeliner OR Carina baby shampoo/bodywash- do not get the green acne wash in your eye, it has the acid and will burn).
Price is okay, but if it was in other stores (competition), I could save a dollar or two I am sure. You can also buy it online from the company website.
I am impressed with this and will wait a full month to see how well it works. I am hoping I can throw out all those other products and my old cleansers and scrubs. Honestly, this was the LAST product I was going to try before going back to my chemical soup cleaners and be stuck putting all those nasty Benzyol Peroxides and Parabans on my skin… blah!
I am hopeful and happy so far.
UPDATE: Jan 2015 – I no longer use this. It did work but ended up really drying my skin. Currently using Andalou Clarifying and it is working VERY well for me in the winter, no drying and great results, great prive and organics/more natural!!!

First off , I’m nineteen and I have these annoying tiny pimples all over my forehead.I had been looking for a natural acne cleanser for a long time so I picked this up from the Organic shop at the beauty section. It was about $15 , which is pretty expensive for a cleanser but I really love that it contains green tea and salicylic acid ( 2%) to help with my stubborn acne.It also contains no harsh ingredients. The first time I used it , I immediately was turned off by the gross chemical-like smell the runny texture and fact that the color is a gross green. The package was pretty annoying too because the contents would easily spill out. After I cleansed , I felt clean and refreshed but mostly dry. I’ve been using it for about a month and I can say that its helped with the acne somewhat , as any acne cleanser would.I wouldn’t recommend this product because I can easily find something more effective for a cheaper price.

This acne wash really does the trick of making your skin feel clean and clear. When I first started using it I saw great results, but then it started to feel like my skin was drying out even though I have pretty oily/combination skin. I continued to use it anyway (since it comes in such a huge bottle) and I find that it doesn’t really dry my skin out anymore…I can use it daily.
A few downfalls: The gel itself is pretty runny and it’s super easy to accidentally squeeze a large amount because the container has a large pouring cap thingy…I always end up wasting a lot of it. Also, NEVER get this stuff in your eyes, I’ve done this twice (inevitably) and it stings like crazy…it’s unbearable actually…it feels like your eyes are set on fire and then gouged out and the stinging lasts for hours…kind of makes you wonder what the heck is in the wash itself.

At first it really helped me and reduced redness and number of pimples I had, but then it started drying out my face. My skins sensitive so I guess thats why it really dried some spots out..I guess if your skin is oily this cleanser would be good for you. I like having it for emergencies, but I wouldn’t personally use it as a twice a day cleanser.

I tried this product once a couple of years ago and ordered it again after I wanted to try a simple BHA cleanser. This is the best! It gets makeup off and it really deep cleans so well. It is also gentle and has simple ingredients. I love this!

I really like this cleanser. It is NOT for folks with dry skin though as it can be a bit drying. If your face is oily you may like. It does foam and my face feels nice and clean afterwards. I still like the Marcelle Aquarelle cleanser but I found it wasn’t drying enough for my needs. This one does have a smell to it even though none is listed. I’m assuming it must be the green tea extract (and it is a pleasant smell). I did email the company to confirm that there wasn’t anything else in the product besides what is listed since I couldn’t figure out what the cleansing agent was. I received a prompt email back that salicylic acid is the cleansing agent. This cleanser only has a few ingredients. I have been using the product now for about 10 days and really like it. For those in Toronto, I picked it up for about $9 in Kensington Market.
INGREDIENTS:
Water, Vegetable Base from Coconut, 2.0% Salicylic acid, Green Tea Extract.
