This is a gorgeous dark and juicy berry colour. I bought it over a year ago on sale at my local Trade Secrets for $4. Three coats gives me full opacity with no streaking. Standard dry time. I love this colour because you can actually see the beautiful berry undertones, unlike Wicked and Vixen which are too dark (in my opinion) to really see any undertones.

I picked this polish up at my local dollar store for $3! Along with a few other colors, at that price I couldn’t just buy one.
But this one in particular is unlike any color I’ve seen before. I’ve had marroons, burgundy’s, dark browns and reds but this is basically all of those combined. Like most Essie polishes, you will need a few coats to get the exact color as the bottle, but it dries fast so re-applying is never an issue. It’s a perfect color for autumn, and halloween because it’s almost the exact same color as blood.
I love everything about this polish and I’m definitely going back to buy more.

I really love this shade!!!!! It’s deep and dark but still much lighter than say Wicked by Essie, and it’s darker than Bordeaux by Essie. It has a gorgeous reddish-brown hue that makes my nails look fabulous. I love the formula, applies great for me. I was actually surprised when I read so many negative reviews for this polish because I had absolutely no complains for application, wear time, chipping, or color. It’s actually one of my very favorite dark shades. oh and it’s super shiny too (must be a jelly).

I’ve own this color for awhile but I just barely used it for a pedi & I LOVE it! I can see alot of people gave it bad reviews but I think that its sad this color is getting a bad rep! The application was a lil streaky, but 3 semi thick coats & it was perfect! Which usually is the case for Essie polishes. This is a dark brownish/burgandy red that in my opinion is a perfect vamp color!

The color — deep jelly plummy-brown burgundy — has been described pretty well, as have the application issues. Put me down as someone who has a bear of a time getting this to go on evenly, and who needs three or four coats to get anything I can wear. I’m by no means a manicure wizard, so factor that in if you’re going to try this. BTW, I love Essie’s Rock the Croc and Berry Hard, which have a similar finish, and I have NO trouble applying them evenly. Go figure.

i was really shocked by these other reviews that complained about it being streaky and difficulty in application. this did NOT smudge and dried quicker than ANY polish i’ve ever used.
i’m not a novice in applying polish, but can never usually get it quite right–regardless of the polish brand or color i usually end up with less-than-perfect nails.
this time was different.
essie’s clutch me if you can–a deep extremely shiny burgundy black matched the bottle color in three medium-thick coats. it went on bright fuschia with the first coat, but with the 2nd and 3rd coat it darkened up tremendously.
the consistency is different than other polishes–jelly like. keep that in mind and there won’t be a problem.
1 lippie off because it wasn’t as dark as other Vampy polishes and it was 7 dollars.

DDD/NC43. I’m pretty “meh” on this polish. Color-wise, it’s a pretty dark burgundy with slightly cool undertones, but this isn’t a color that one couldn’t find in many other lines. It also takes 3-4 coats to achieve the bottle color. Although I’m a huge fan of Essie’s jelly-creme finishes, I didn’t think the jelly effect was noticeable enough, nor the color unique enough, to be worth the effort.

I love Essie nail polishes, but this particular one leaves much to be desired. It requires about 2 layers to achieve desired color, but that’s not the problem. My problem is that it took wayyyyyy too long to dry. The consistency is not right. Unlike other Essie nail polishes, I found the consistency really difficult to work with. It smudged like crazy and did not dry properly no matter what top coat I used. Boo!

Essie’s Clutch Me if You Can has two things going for it: the pretty wine red color and the glossy, jelly-like finish. But then the good times stop rolling. It is unbearably streaky. It’s not opaque enough after two coats. You can see every brushstroke, and in a creme that’s not a good thing. I was so frustrated with this polish. I absolutely loved its glossiness but no matter what I did I couldn’t get it to look any better than the manicures I gave myself when I was 8. Wah!

I agree with other users that this takes several coats to achieve the bottle color. It has definite plum undertones so you have to use 2-3 coats to achieve the desired bottle color. I found using base and top coats helps with chipping since chipping is noticed more with darker polishes.
