Cafe Au Lait is light years better than the Almond Cream shade. You really can’t pass judgement on these from just one shade. First, it is the most amazing brown shade that I can actually pull of and does’t make me look sick (and it is matte!). Second, it wears quite well and can go on straight from the stick and look quite nice; there is no need for tools or fingers. I often wear it as a thicker liner with a clean lid.
I do wish these were retractable and not needing to be sharpened. But this shade is quite nice and the standout of the collection.
FYI, I am nw20, deep soft winter.

I have never been able to wear cream eyeshadow. It just smears and dissolves because of oily lids. But this stays on all day. Even on my lower eyelid, even in allergy season this wears great. I don’t even need a primer. I use it mostly as a soft color eyeliner but as a subtle crease color it still wears wonderfully. Cafe Aulait really makes my green eyes pop without being dark or heavy. I can use this on the waterline with no irritation. This is a winner and SO cheap.

LOVE this creamy jumbo pencil! It goes on easily and smoothly, and stays on like wallpaper! I am getting more colors. ALSO really like Milani’s Liquid-Like Eye Liner pencil in black, stays on great, no smearing.

I LOVE these. I’m not one to buy multiple shades of the same makeup product, but I am hooked on Shadow Eyez. I have several shades which I’ve reviewed already (Black Ink, Espresso Line, Cafe au Lait, Champagne Toast, and Almond Cream). Milani has some really great makeup at reasonable prices–these are $7 or 8 at CVS- I use them almost every day. I thought I’d add a separate review of Cafe au Lait since it’s up on MUA, and I’d like to get the word out how fantastic it is. Like Almond Cream, Cafe au Lait is blendable and very easy to work with–the darker mattes set quickly and are best used as liners instead (I use them on the water line). I use Cafe au Lait as a crease shade and all-over lid shade, and it blends like a dream. It looks great on its own or paired with a lighter base shade. It’s a very wearable color–light/medium cool toned brown (looks like a coffee with cream, actually) that looks just fine on my NC 35 skin tone and would flatter light to medium skin tones (probably too light for tan or darker skin tones). It’s creamy and easy to blend, but lasts a long time, particularly over primer. I am impressed with the quality and performance of Shadow Eyez, and Cafe au Lait is a really great multiuse product that would look great for different occasions- it can easily be built up or down for day or night looks. This is HG material for me.

I could just cut and paste OMGURTEEF’s review for this. It’s an excellent product. Unmatched in every way. These shadow liners are amazing and this color is no-fail perfection.

I’ve been purchasing the Shadow Eyez pencils since they were launched ages ago. They are fantastic cream shadows that don’t crease, are easy to blend, and are super pigmented.
When Milani released the matte, neutral versions, I was disappointed to find that there weren’t any shops within what seemed to be a 50-mile radius from my home that carried them. There was always a good stock of the original pencils, but nary a matte one to be found.
While I was in Baltimore with my band this past weekend, I popped into the CVS near where we were staying and was delighted to see the full range of matte shades on display. So I grabbed 09 – Cafe Au Lait, which was the color I’d been pining for all this time. And it. Is. Amazing.
First off, a lot of matte cream shadows go on uneven and feel dry. Not this one. It’s so creamy and blendable – an absolute dream to work with, and it applies more evenly than MAC’s Paint Pot in Quite Natural, for which this is a spot-on color dupe.
Once it sets, it’s budge-proof as all get out. I can wear this all day with no creasing (though I do use a primer, since my eyelids are an oil slick), and it adds just the right amount of color to my lids. It’s perfect if I want to do a disheveled 90’s-style look, and it’s also great for adding just a bit of depth to a simple winged eyeliner look as well. It’s quite versatile, as it is very buildable and, as I said, blends like a dream.
I feel like I should have stocked up on more of these. I’m sort of kicking myself for not having done so. But since I love them so much, I’ll have no qualms with ordering them online from here on.
Packaging-wise, they’re great. They do need to be sharpened, which I’m not thrilled about, but you do get a lot of product, and the packaging/cap feels sturdy. They do sharpen easily as well, and since the product isn’t uber-soft, it doesn’t just mush around in the sharpener. It actually does come to a good point.
Definitely will repurchase time and time again.
Milani just knocks it out of the park with their products these days!
