I recently dyed my hair a dark burgandy and wanted to preserve the color, so i decided to use the Pantene color preserve. Immediately after the first wash it washed away the dark color…i continued to use it thinking that wouldn’t continue to happen, its been three weeks and my hair looks so faded , you can see my natural hair color , its just horrible and this product does not work whatsoever . I would not recommended it

As far as hair goes, this wasn’t a bad shampoo. It did make my hair shiny but not quite as clean as it should be, and it wasn’t drying. However, this makes my scalp so itchy and irritated I can’t continue using it. I have bloody sore spots on my scalp now from barely scratching it. This is something that doesn’t happen to me with any other hair products. I suspect it may be the dimethicone causing it.

I recently won a bottle of this on Listia, and just used it today. I had stopped using Pantene for awhile, but this stuff worked really well. My hair has been color treated for a looong time, and I’ve always used color safe products. After using this, my hair is smooth, silky and with a radiant healthy shine. It feels really healthy. But then again, I think it may have to do with the Aussie leave-in conditioner I’ve started using. It’s like no matter what shampoo/conditioners I’ve used, my hair always looked and felt awesome after using that! So maybe it wasn’t just the Pantene, but it didn’t make it any worse! It’s worth a try if you have color treated hair, and want to keep it looking great.

i really like this shampoo and it’s conditioner. my hair is color treated, dry and tends to frizz. when i use the conditioner i comb it through to get good coverage then rinse it out well. shiny, sleek and next to no frizz. it does build up so periodically i use a clarifying shampoo but it works well for me.

I find that this shampoo doesn’t clean my hair well even though I don’t use any additional products on my hair. I have to wash my hair everyday because my scalp and roots are oily by the night. This doesn’t happen when I use other shampoos. It does help with the color since the color hasn’t faded much. I wouldn’t buy this again because my hair never feels clean…. feels like bad hair day everyday!! 🙁

Ugh…I used to use Pantene a long time ago. Wasn’t impressed, but it was cheap so I gave it another shot since the reformulated the product. Well…it was HORRIBLE. I have acne like bumps all over my scalp. My hair looks lifeless and dull. It smells like the old pantene which is gross. I have used it for about 1-1/2 weeks and it is going into the garbage. Going back to Aveda. More expensive, but in this case you get what you pay for.

After having darkened my once-blond hair, I did not want it to fade. MULTIPLE hairdressers really stressed the importance of a shampoo for color-treated hair. Since the Rene Furterer stuff at the salon was beyond my normal shampoo budget, I marched into the nearest drugstore to pick something else.
“Color Preserve Shine” by Pantene sounds great! I wanted to preserve my color and who doesn’t like shine??!!! Plus, some gals I know with gorgeous hair swear by Pantene products, so I thought this was a great value.
Any shampoo or soap product will clean your hair, and this one also, of course washes away city grime and excessive hair oil, BUT I have been unable to note any appreciable color preservation. I have a thick head of hair, but the individual strands are very fine. So I feel like it’s too heavy a product for me. I’m not sure why…maybe the color preservation technology actually coats your hair shaft with a micro-fine film of something or other to give it shine and keep the elements from beating up your haircolor…? In my particular case, I would reap more benefit from a clean-rinsing, lightweight shampoo but if someone has thicker, wilder locks, Pantene Color Preserve Shine might be a good product as it would tame it as it protects.

I love this and I usually hate Pantene. I noticed with their new formula’s they aren’t putting ammonium sulfates in their shampoo’s, which is great. I use this b/c I absolutely love the smell, it does not bother my scalp and my hair does not get weighed down (baby baby fine hair here). I also use the matching conditioner which is excellent as well. —–> Blech, never mind. This ended up to be the usual Pantene crap after a few dozen uses.

I cannot stand Pantene. I don’t understand why, but my mother just swears by it; I let her buy the shampoo recently, and this is what she came back with. Had to go through a whole bottle of this, along with the conditioner, and I was so glad when that bottle was empty.
I gave it a chance, since they have the new packaging and reformulated everything…but it’s even worse than I remember.
Drys out my hair but somehow leaves an oily film on top. Makes my scalp itch. Harsh. Leaves buildup that takes forever to get rid of. Made my hair look completely lifeless and dull. I’m keeping this short to avoid ranting about it.
And that smell…I really hate the smell of Pantene. It’s one of those scents that you instantly recognize, and it’s so soapy and artificial smelling.
You can get better shampoos for less money. Just leave it on the shelf.
