I tried to make this work. The color was beautiful and it went on like a dream at first application.
Keyword first.
It had already dried up on day one.
I tried everything to get the color to come out again.
Results were spotty.
I even opened up the bottom cap to add a few drops of water in order to get it wet.
It worked a bit…sometimes too much and it dripped on my hands.
Either way, it never went on like the first time.
Huge disappointment and waste of money!

For a start, I normally like lipstains and had one a few years ago that I loved but for the life of me, I couldn’t remember who made it, so when I found this for around $2, I figured it was worth a shot to see if maybe this was the brand I had loved. The answer would be an emphatic no!
The tip makes it very hard to get a precise and even one-swipe application which is definitely something this product requires. Trying to even the color out only makes it appear that much blotchier. I can’t give any opinion on its staying power as almost immediately after putting it on, it started stinging. I do not have sensitive skin on my lips and have never had a bad reaction to any product. I also take very good care of my lips and do not have any cracks or splits in them. My lips were swore and swollen for over 24 hours afterwards.
I guess I will have to keep looking for that lipstain.

I got this in the scarlet colour, because of the packaging I had no idea what the colour would look like. It was a bright red… Anyway, even with smooth exfoliated lips, this thing insists on going on super patchy. It does not sink into your lips. So after a few minutes, it accentuates all your imperfections and settles into your lips fine lines.
But that is not the worst. It doesn’t matter if you don’t eat or drink, after about an hour, the entire inside half of your lips has no colour, it just fades away from the wet inside your mouth. Lovely. I’ve tried preserving it with lip balm, but that doesn’t work at all. Just one drop of water, and the entire “stain” washes away.

I don’t understand all the hate on this product, but to each her own. I love this lipstain and it seems like it’s one of the few felt-tip ones left. Revlon and Maybelline did away with theirs which I loved as well. I purchased Teasing Blush which I would describe as a slightly muted red shade. It can show up rather dark, but it’s a really pretty berry/red that dries down as more of a natural-ish red and looks very fresh and youthful. There is a slightly cherry flavor to it, but it fades quickly. You’ll definitely want to make sure your lips are well moisturized and exfoliated before applying because it can look patchy. Over top you’ll want to apply a good balm to help the color be more even.

This is great for a daily look. It’s very light, smells great and tastes pretty good also! Be aware that the color you choose will always be darker. I choose the lighter colors knowing that when applied, it will appear quite a bit darker than the color advertised on the package. Also, the stain does dry fairly quickly and can look streaky if your lips are not somewhat moisturized. I just apply a layer of chapstick over it and it looks great. I also like how this looks much more natural than lipstick.

This product is too expensive for what it is worth. The color is very nice so it’s unfortunate that it isn’t the best product. The felt tip almost hurts to apply! And it dries out SOOO quick. So overall, it has a nice color, it stays for a good amount of time, but it is way way way overpriced.

This is the single worst lip product I have ever used. It costs about $10 at Walmart in Canada, and I bought it on sale for maybe around $6. I threw it out after attempting to use it a couple of times, but I think the colour I had was either Wild Berry Wink or Everbloom Kiss. It looks just like a marker, and you might as well just go to the stationery section and pick up a kids’ Crayola marker. You’d end up with about the same results and wouldn’t pay as much. The colour looks extremely uneven and splotchy, and just gets worse if you attempt to fill in the lighter patches. It defines every little line in your lips in a very unflattering way, and dries them out. Also, because it is a stain, it is so hard to get off! I have used many different drugstore products, and even the cheapest of NYC and Wet N Wild lipsticks performed much better than this.

This is bad. When I started applying it for the first time I was like “Whoa, this doesn’t feel too pleasant on my lips.” The color was stronger and more vibrant when I first got it since it was obviously new. So I was like okay, let me just see how long it lasts. It didn’t last at all. After having it for a while, the color seems to not come out as much. It’s like using a marker running out of ink against my lips and it leaves them very drying. I’ve read that this product is best if you use something else over it, but eh. Never buying again. Also it’s pretty pricey.

I’ve been really surprised to read all of these bad reviews for this lip stain! I’ve got it in shade 425 and I absolutely LOVE it. It stays on well on my lips (generally 2-3 hours. Nothing and I mean nothing stays on my lips longer than 3 hours anyway, despite what anyone says in their marketing campaigns); it doesn’t dry my lips out at all – in fact my lips generally feel quite soft while I’m wearing the stain. My favourite thing to do is apply it just before bed and it will have sunk in amazingly by morning, then lasts at least half the day, so that works really nicely for me as well.
I got the stain on sale for about $7 and I would definitely, definitely buy this again in the different shades offered. My first foray into lipstains was with Revlon and this covergirl stain is SO much better.

I actually found this at Big Lots for just $2. Now I know why. This is TOO DRYING! Within a few minutes of applying, my lips were so dry they started to wrinkle! I had to apply chapstick, which made the lip stain last less than 2-3 hours. Definitely would not repurchase. I recommend NYC lip stain… A lot cheaper, and much less drying!
