ELF Posh is much more than the name sounds “basic lipstick” in that the color is very luxe! It is a beautiful browned down red brick. The packaging is the basic part. I don’t turn it up much more than abso necessary because of the fact that I fear it will break off. It’s okay–no need to turn it up further! These lipsticks are $1 & much better than wetnwild’s $1 SilkFinish lipsticks. There are limited colors selection but whereas wnw has quantity, elf has quality. I’ve bought many a lipstick for 5x more that sucked 10x more! This is beautiful w an eye done in brown eyeshadow/liner, elf golden bronzer & elf blush gems “blush.” An every day color that is a real work horse. I love the formula, it’s not drying & is very long lasting. It doesn’t feel thin nor grainy. I was expecting so much less. What a bargain! And cruelty free…it’s downtown triple crown!

For a dollar, this is a great beauty bargain. This is one of 2 basic lipsticks from e.l.f. that I have, the other is the now discontinued Coy. I like Posh much more! Now, I admit that I am not thrilled by the berry fragrance in this formula, but I can live with it. And yes, the packaging is cheap, but really: It’s a dollar! The things I do like about this simple lipstick, another person might dislike, and vice versa. At any rate, the formula is a little bit stiff and waxy, but still manages to soften up a bit and feels creamy on the lips. The waxiness gives it some longevity and keeps it from slipping around on the lips.
Now the color: it’s lovely! It’s a lovely medium red-pink with hints of purple to my eyes, and maybe a touch of brown which keeps the color in the subdued red-berry range. It’s so pretty. I had wanted this color for a long time, but it was always out of stock. Finally, during a sale, it was in stock and I pounced. I don’t regret it.
It’s a cream finish, but slightly sheer, which works for my lip tone and the natural lines I have. I have finally figured out that sheerer formulas work better; creams or mattes creep into my lip lines and look awful. I can’t really wear shimmer or metallic formulas for the same reason–the finish enhances the lines. Boo hiss. But I did experiment with my Shimmering Facial Whip the other day–I put the tiniest speck onto my center bottom lip and blended it in over Posh and the effect was very pretty.
I’ve purchased other lipsticks for far more, and some of them have performed in a lackluster way compared to a one dollar lipstick. No, Posh isn’t the most elegant lipstick around–it doesn’t claim to be–but the color is, well, Posh! It’s a great little lipstick.

I bought a bunch of elf lipsticks a while back. Not sure why really because i usually don’t wear classic lipsticks instead opting for stains, glosses, pencils etc. I suppose since they are so cheap it wasn’t really a big deal and i liked the colors. these got thrown in my makeup box and i ended up forgetting about them. Last week i was clearing out my makeup and decided to give posh a try again. It was still as creamy as the day i got it. Had not dried out a bit. The color is a really pretty brownish red. It is very pigmented and actually pretty moisturizing for a classic lipstick. It does come off on my coffee mug and things but it leaves behind an even stain once it starts wearing away. For the price i don’t mind reapplying.

Love this color. It’s a deep, almost vampy shade of reddish pink. Super flattering on my cool skin tone. Creamy application, doesn’t accentuate any lines, doesn’t feather. Smells divine!
As with all elf essential lipsticks the packaging is awful but in that regard you get what you pay for. Still a 5/5 for me though due to longevity, moisturization and pigment.

Posh is a drop dead gorgeous crimson. It is highly pigmented – only one swipe is required to get full coverage from this beauty. It is a little soft in texture and does transfer, but as it stains the lips and does not wear off unevenly, it fades with some grace. It has a faint satin sheen and feels light, comfortable and very moisturising – I would go as far as to say that it IS moisturising, and for a strongly pigmented red lipstick that is unusual. It has an inoffensive fruity berry scent which fades quickly, and no flavour. It is an absolutely stunning, wearable red on cool or neutral complexions.
So much for the good stuff. But if you like your lipstick to evoke a sense of glamour, look away now. The packaging is among the cheapest and ugliest you will see anywhere, and when you twist the casing to reveal the lipstick it creaks and sticks like the cheap crap it is. Also, keep it in your bag or jeans pocket for a day and the ugly fake pearlised silver colour actually rubs off the casing, revealing the sludge coloured plastic beneath. Personally I do not care a fig about this because I love the lipstick so much, but it aint pretty and you will not ever flourish this lipstick with pride.
Further, due to the softness of the product it is easy for the lipstick to get knocked off centre and the lipstick ends up smeared all over the inside of the casing. I am careful with my lipsticks so it hasn’t broken, but I can totally imagine this happening if you twist the product up more than a couple of millemetres. These aesthetic considerations are the only reason Posh does not get a full five lippies. I have had far more expensive products in beautiful casings that have turned out to be unpleasent to wear and super drying, and while a beautiful case is seductive, it’s the contents I am interested in and at only £1.99 I am never going to be without a backup of this gem.
