I have been doing my nails for a long time now, but was a really late adapter for the soak off gel craze. I have just recently started using sog. I have used Gelish, Jessica, Orly, OPI, and China Glaze Gelaze gel polishes. So far I have been the most pleased with the formula of the Gelaze, I have very little issue with pooling at the cuticles (the Orly was a nightmare), shrinkage after curing (that was a real problem with the OPI). I use gelish foundation and top coat, and 2-3 thin coats of gelaze for the best results. I have found using the gelaze in this way I get very good wear, usually I remove after one week simply because I want a change of shade. Only once have I had it lift and pull off, that was Dorothy Who, on one nail that I did a poor job of prepping. As far as price goes, these are a bit more reasonable than most other brands of soak off gel.
Rated 5 out of 5 by bo from Excellent product This product is excellent for use on area of nail that is not pointed due to many small bumps on the nail. As long as you are a smooth base the soaked-off gel will not roll off the nail. Highly recommended.
Rated 4 out of 5 by MikeM from Quality treatments I tried several top coats of gel storm at the Gold Mountain Wet Wet Gel project using a 2:1 emulsion and I was pleasantly surprised when they worked with no bite/illumination. The crystals were fine, but I have to say, this is not a gel stain product. Best product for getting clogged with oil from your nail.

These polishes are great! They lasted two full weeks without chipping. They were on sale for four bucks at Sally’s so I decided to give them a try. Would highly recommend!

I’ve always been a do-it-myself manicurist. I’m extremely picky and usually don’t like paying for something that I can do better myself. After deciding that gel wasn’t as difficult to remove as I was dreading, I’ve invested in a few products.
As a reference, no matter what brand or color I’m using, I always start with Gelish foundation, lay down three coats of color, and then finish with Kiss Gel (old formula) top coat. I do this because I’m very hard on my hands (I used to work in what essentially amounts to woodworking, using lots of tools, machinery, adhesives, and solvents).
As for color polish, I’ve used Gelish, Red Carpet, OPI, Sally Hansen, Orly and Gelaze. Gelaze has been by far my favorite of all the brands. I’ve found with all others, I have to fight the polish shrinking back from the free edge and cuticle. It got to the point where I would just work one nail at a time, which ends up being far more time consuming. I’ve had very few problems with Gelaze shrinking back.
In addition, I find the color of the bottles are truer to color than with other brands. There may be some slight variation but they’re much closer than the colored/printed labels other bottles use. A prime example is Gelish’s You Dare, I Glow. Label shows the color as a dark purple but the polish itself is a vibrant magenta, like the flowers on purple iceplant. (Also, the color is gorgeous but the shrink back is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE).
I also find that Gelish wear time is excellent. I could easily go three weeks between manicures if it wasn’t for the nail growth. Now, it may be because I use base, three coats of color and top coat but again, I do this because I’m rough on my hands. If I’m going to spend an 45 minutes to an hour doing my nails, I don’t want to cut corners just to have to re-do them in a few days. I don’t want to have to worry about them for another two weeks and with this brand, I don’t.

I bought the nail polishes for BOGO at sallys and used my 20% off coupon as well, so they came out to around $5 each after taxes. I had been searching for a gel nail polish that was a reasonable price and could be used with an LED light, so at this price point I couldn’t pass it up. I got 5 different colors and I’ve used 3. I have had good experiences with the nail polish so far and have gotten compliments on the colors. The reasons I gave 4 stars is because the nail polish does tend to pool, but an orange stick helps with taking off excess nail polish and keeping it off your cuticles. Also the top coat wasn’t as glossy as I’d like at first, but I fixed that with a second coat and will probably buy a different top coat next time. As long as you don’t mind spending a little time, your manicure should come out great. The fuse LED light only cures one finger at a time, so I would finish one nail completely then continue to the next which worked well for me. My first manicure lasted almost 2 weeks before I took it off because of my nail growth. (It was still perfectly manicured, no chips or lifting) I would recommend this nail polish to friends, especially if you get it on sale like I did. Much better quality polish then what with my fuse kit.

As a fan of regular China Glaze polishes, this product is a huge disappointment. I have tried many other brands of gel polish (shellac, opi gelcolor, orly gel polish, finger paints gel, gelish etc.) and Gelaze has the worst formula by far. It shrinks from the tips, runs into my cuticles and sidewalls and somehow manages to be both thick and runny simultaneously. I have tried flash curing, thinning, keeping it cold and nothing helps. They advertise it as not needing a basecoat, but not using one makes all these problems even worse. Between cleaning the gel out of my cuticles, wrapping my tips constantly and flash curing each finger individually, one hand took almost an hour to complete. The result was a mess: translucent tips, messy cuticles and uneven coverage. To add insult to injury, soak off takes forever and the gel that leaks into my sidewalls and underneath my tips is nearly impossible to remove even after 30 minutes of soaking. I bought several colors that I loved from the original polish line and unfortunately I have had the same application and removal issues with every one of them. It’s a shame, I would love to have my favorite China Glaze colors in long wearing gel, but the fight to get it decent looking is absolutely not worth it to me.

I’m not impressed. I gave this 2/5 stars because the color is absolutely beautiful – a rich blue sparkle. But it requires 4 coats to get good color payoff although in the bottle it doesn’t look sheer at all. Very thin, pools, difficult to work with. It’s too expensive for what you get.
