This is a color that I would imagine a sorceress would gravitate towards! On my neutral-warm ivory complexion – it’s quite deep. I like the grey cast of this dusty purple. It’s quite blue/cool toned. Very unique shade. If I’m feeling it is too dark, I will just top it with a nude shade to tone it down. I would only wear this during the fall and winter – it’s just so dark (which I do love!) I do brights and shimmers all spring and summer. Love this price – I can always get them for less than 3 dollars on sale at Ulta with the 3.50 of 10! These go Bogo too – so you can save even more! With these cheapie prices, I love trying out different lip looks!! The formula is on point. Love them and can’t wait to buy Thalia and Power next (I’m so into mauves and purples right now!)

Lala is a intriguing dusty plum mauve shade…this is how it looks on my nw20, deep soft winter complexion (almost black hair, brown eyes) . It actually reminds me a bit of Lorac Goddess, but Goddess is more of a dusty PURPLE mauve shade and Lala is more of a PLUM (purple/brown) mauve shade. It is stunning in the fall with my NARS Sin blush & with my UD Bittersweet blush. The dusty/mauve portion of the color it what makes this works on my complexion so well (nw20, deep soft winter). Like Lorac Goddess or even shades like MAC Fluid, if you have dry patchy lips, pile it on too heavy or just don’t have the right complimentary makeup, this is the type of color that could suck the life out of your skin or look too goth. I can see how that could happen. However, it looks amazing on me! I also have Kat Von D Lovecraft and I love that shade. With my fall makeup look ( I do a bit more drama in the fall), Lovecraft was getting lost; it didn’t pack enough ooomph. Lovecraft is a beautiful dusty mauve shade as well, but very neutral. Lala is like the uber fall version of Lovecraft. I wear Lovecraft winter – summer & on low makeup days in the fall (with Pink Cult Blush). I wear Lorac Goddess mostly in the winter/spring. And I wear LaLa in the fall.
For a $4 lipstick this also applies so nicely and leaves that perfect smooth lip look you see on Pinterest. No blatant lip lines or chunky pieces of lipstick here…just smooth and creamy. I bought this in the spring and now that fall is here I can’t stop wearing it.
This lipstick will not be for everyone. Those that can wear it I think will really love it though. It will feel like the perfect Fall not too bold, not too plain shade. And check it out now…Lala was made for fall! If you are darker complected, this might be a great MLBB shade for you. The color gets 4 lippies because it will not suit everyone (too dark for some, wrong color for others), but the lipstick (especially combined with the price) as a whole gets a 5. So I stuck with a 5 rating.

Am I crazy? I don’t see purple or vampy at all. Especially in day light. This is a medium shade, not light or dark, in my opinion. It’s slightly dusty and slightly brownish brick but I’d still call it a mauve. I like that it’s interesting and still different enough from whipped caviar and Thalia, which I have both of. I wanted something just a little more mature and evening that wasn’t necessarily red or plum and this is wearable and smooth. I don’t find the formula much different from their other round cases, which other than Pure Nude, I have liked. I also got a great sale so I paid less than $2.
Aha…it is very different indoors. Much darker bit still not quite goth unless you’re very used to nude and light shades. I see the purple shift indoors, but I’d still hesitate to call it a purple. It’s more of a dusty brown wine. But really unique. I do love it.

This is one of my most unique shades. This is defiantly in the top 5. Since it’s unique most people would probably shy away from such color. I love all shades purple. Lala is a medium mauve purple, it is on the darker side but compared to other dark purples such as revlons matte balm shameless or wnw’s ravin raisin, it is considerably more wearable. It’s pretty much ravin raisin’s little sister. Luckily the hubs prefers med- dark purple on me than any other color. Him saying ” ya I think purple goes with with your dark hair better” to me mean ” I am happy for you to go buy more lipstick ” yessss.
The formula I wish was more long lasting, but that does not dieter my love for such uniqueness. I will wear this all day every day this fall/winter. Someone afraid of color or anything past pink or red may not find this as beautiful as I do. This is a get you notice color. Love
Since this is a darker color it will last longer than say tea rose from nyx. The formula is thin and a bit slippery, but workable, but I can deal because this is so unique.

Gorgeous color, perfect for me, but…
Terrible, terrible formula as it’s dry & “dragging”.
I love NYX and this is my first dud from them – I am so bummed as I thought I found my go-to lipstick.
Don’t forget, NYX is cruelty-free. 🙂

I am crazy about the NYX round lipsticks, so when I was at Ulta around Christmas time, I picked it up. It was around $5 with tax. I really love natural mauve/purple toned colors, so I really liked the look of it in the store. However, I am very fair, so it kind of washed me out. It turned out to be a tad darker than I expected. I have nothing against dark lipsticks on fair complexions, but I just don’t think this exact color was right for my skin tone. It is a very lovely color, but it would probably look better on a more medium or deep skin tone. But the consistency is very good, and it’s a nice smooth lipstick!

I wish I had seen the review that called it “kinda gothy”. I am not pale, I have medium skin that tans easily, and this shade makes me look dead. Even the texture is bad. I love NYX lipsticks, but this color is a huge miss.

This is the closest dupe I have found for Revlon’s discontinued Smoky Violet. (In case anyone else was looking.) It smells kind of cheap. Doesn’t last as long but it’s not too bad with a lip liner. It’s a really pretty and very wearable plummy/fleshy purple. Goes great with smokey purple eyeshadow designs. Somewhat gothy. 🙂

My first experience w. a NYX l/s! I really like this a lot…love how it’s moisturizing and it doesn’t dry my lips out, which happens with a lot of lipsticks that I have. The color is nice. On me it evens out my very pigmented reddish lips. I’m an NC35, more tan now cause of the winter months. It’s definitely a mauve color but with more pink in it so it’s a little brighter at the same time. Love the creamy texture!

For reference, my skin is dry/combo, sensitive, NC/NW (jury’s still out) 25-30 (usually 25 but I accidentally tanned :/). I wear NW25 in MAC and Soft Bisque in Clinique Soft Finish, if that gives you a better idea of my coloring. My hair is darker brown, my lips are lightly pigmented.
I bought this color on a whim because it looked pretty in Ulta, and I’m a lipstick hoor. Turns out, I find myself reaching for this color every day now. It is a mauvey brownish pink color that looks, well, just perfect on me. It gives my lips a deep, brownish mauve tone that I just love and that just enhances their coloring and shape without overpowering.
The texture is silky smooth, glides on very nicely. It is the perfect “neutral” color for me. As for the staying power, it’s interesting. Yeah, the product slides off when eating and drinking, of course. However I notice, after 1 or 2 reapplications, the pigment pretty much stays on my lips after that. Almost like a lip stain.
At any rate, I think it’s a lovely color, and am delighted to have picked it up, and will surely stockpile tubes of it lest NYX do something evil and discontinue it, as we know makeup companies like to do.
