Others are calling this light, but I think of it as more light to mid toned blue, it has a slightly dusty quality, and I like the colour, its a very pretty blue.
Formula, nearly opaque in one coat, was a bit runny despite being thick so it flooded my cuticles really easily, and I never have that problem these days. But hey, that’s what q-tips and clean up brushes dipped in acetone are for, tidying up. I also expect that the formula will settle down as I work through the bottle.
The finish is a lovely straight up cream, it was even in application, not that hard to work with and definitely one of my better china glaze polishes. More than happy with this product and would happily buy more China Glaze polishes in other colours based on this experience.

Electric Beat is a light blue shade, with a creme finish. I don’t usually like lighter nail colours as they look washed out next to my pale skin, but the shade this polish looks really cheerful on me; the blue is light enough to be called pastel, but it has a brightness to it too – if that makes any sense. A lovely shade for spring/summer.
The colour is highly pigmented, so you really only need one coat (though I usually wear two coats just because it’s become automatic to do so). The shade is colour true to how it looks in the bottle.
Electric Beat is smooth to apply, leaving no bubbles or streaks and I was impressed with the drying time; within three minutes after application it was touch dry and after ten minutes I was rummaging through drawers, there were no chips or smudges. I hadn’t applied a top coat at that point.
Using my usual base and top coats this polish will last me around two/three days with only minimal wear; but I’m tough on my nails (self powered wheelchair user), so it will probably last longer on other people.

Electric Beat is a really pretty light blue, leaning a little periwinkle, with dusty undertones that keep this from being too Easter egg-y, if you know what I’m saying. It has a cream finish and is a really great shade for the spring and summer.
I usually find that China Glaze has a really good formula for their cream polishes. This one was a little weird — it was pretty thick but also very runny at the same time. However, I had no issues with application. It wasn’t messy, didn’t streak or bubble, and it was opaque in one coat, though I always apply two.
With a base coat and a top coat, I can get roughly a week’s wear out of this, which is typical of most nail polishes I own, so no complaints there. Like I said, it looks great on; it’s fun but not over the top. I also did my toes with it and it looks really nice.
The only downside I can find is that this is basically an exact dupe for Orly Snowcone polish, which I already own. I bought Electric Beat and several other colors from the Electro Pop collection while browsing Ulta before doing any research on dupes. I actually compared this side by side in the bottle with Snowcone in the store, and they look very different. Snowcone seems much brighter and doesn’t lean periwinkle the way Electric Beat does. But once applied, I could honestly hardly tell a difference. Snowcone is the tiniest bit brighter, but not so much brighter that you would want both of these in your collection.
Despite being bummed about that, this is still a great polish on it’s own. If you don’t have Snowcone (or China Glaze Secret Periwinkle, which is also very, very similar), I’d suggest this shade if you’re looking for a light springtime blue.
