This is the other scent I bought, next to Ellenisia. Another floral, but with some kind of lily sharpness. It can smell soapy-synthetic on some angles, but some greens makes it alright. It’s gorgeous, yet the scent kind of just faded..didn’t remain long on me. I appreciate it as a nice, unpretentious floral. But not a necessity, nor distinctive enough to warrant such price. It’s a thank-you-that’s-nice. Not truly a wow-what-the-shit-is-this nice.

I bought this blind as it was discounted. I regretted it as soon as it arrived. It’s a thin citrus, with a hint of snapped green twigs over a light floral with a teeny bit of powder. It is really boring and is like half a fragrance. Lasts about an hour? However, I can see that it would be nice for summer, or to keep in the office or to layer.
It doesn’t smell of peonies.
Edit:
I’ve added two more stars. I tried it again and found it lasted to mid afternoon, not bad for a light scent. It turns sherbety, might make you sneeze. And maybe there is a hint of peonies, peonies not in full bloom and hidden under a white cotton sheet,

Oh my, this is gorgeous. Perfect for spring/summer. Light, airy, with a bit of a kick to it. Initial blast is peony and violet leaf—a bit sweet, a bit green, almost a hint of tobacco leaf to it (that’s the violet leaf on me, it is so rich). As it dries down, you get the vetiver mingling in which gives it such a crisp feel. The jasmine is fairly nonexistent on me, but that’s quite alright as I’m loving the peony-vetiver-violet leaf combo, with just a soft hint of musk in the background. This was a total steal (about $50 at Nordstrom Rack, if you can believe it) but well worth the full price, especially for this time of year. Not screechy or harsh at all, just soft, sweet, and pleasant. I’m at 3 hours now and it’s still going strong. Would repurchase.

Peoneve is ideal if you seek a floral scent with plenty of greenery. The initial spray is extremely green with plenty of violet leaf intertwined with the vetiver. I found this opening way too sharp. After an hour or so, the fragrance settled and the peony note blossomed nicely. I did not get any distinct rose notes on my skin but the scent definitely sweetened very slightly after a few hours. The jasmine and the musk come in for the drydown, but they do not overshadow the fresh peony scent.
This is a scent for someone who likes to smell the whole flower- stem, leaves, and all- in a perfume. It is much too green for me, I would prefer more of just the peony blossom with more rose.

Wonderfully fresh summery scent.
I love this on my clothes and during summer spring for a non-fussy feel.

British fragrance line Penhaligon’s consistently churns out well-crafted perfumes. I don’t think they will ever push anyone’s boundaries or earn kudos for stunning originality, but there is something to be said for making people smell, well, NICE! And doing it in a way that steadfastly refrains from following the mainstream trends. Indeed, there is something a touch nostalgic–I won’t say old-fashioned, because I don’t think that quite fits–in every Penhaligon’s fragrance. Today I am testing Peoneve. Peony soliflores are not new. However, there aren’t many that last more than a half hour on the skin. Penhaligon’s Peoneve lasted a solid three hours on my wrist and I suspect if I spritzed it on my hair (my favorite way to wear scent), it would last all day. The opening is the soft, dewy, almost rosy scent that you expect of a peony. As it dries down, there is a greenness that grows stronger, almost soapy. It’s a gentle scent, wearing very close to the skin. I think this is perfectly appropriate for work and its coolness is perfect for a hot summer day.

A soliflore with some zest. Feels sheer, light, good for warm weather. Refreshing, uncomplicated. Average sillage. Longer lasting than others I’d put in this category. Reminds me a lot of Annick Goutal’s Le Chevrefeuille.
This is what Penhaligon’s does well—fresh dewy garden scents, get-up-and-go scents, plucky old-fashioned G-rated-movie heroine scents. Cute.
