I wanted this duo for a long time but was worried about the glitter. Not that I mind glitter sometimes but for an easy, everyday type of look (which was why I wanted this one) I’d rather reach for something softly shimmery. However, I absolutely love this duo and don’t regret caving in and buying it.
I love rose gold shades but so many of them tend to look brassy or coppery on me and it’s actually hard to find shadows that are truly a rose/pink version of rose gold. For reference I’m N10, hazel eyes, blond hair. This actually looks like a romantic, pink gold color that looks effortless and enhances the green in my eyes. It never looks harsh or give me that tired eye effect, and it doesn’t pull too warm either. The pale peach color is also lovely and is just the perfect wash of all over color.
I wear the pale peach shade from lash line to brow bone and the rose color all over my mobil lid. I add a flick of black liquid liner and some matte pink lipstick and I feel polished and natural. As far as the glitter is concerned… I simply tap my brush gently a few times before applying and I don’t have any issues. There may be a few glitter specks here and there but it’s not a problem.
This is one of my grab and go palettes and I’m so happy with it!

I can not believe I really spent $32. on this eyeshadow duo. First off I have 6 of the Nars duo eye shadows so clearly do not mind spending the extra money, but only when the product has results. Ive owned Silk Road for close to 2 years now and still can not find a way to make it work. I usually pull it out of my collection realize why I never use it and out it back. The lightest shade is lacking pigmentation and I really need to pack on the shadow to get any color payoff. The Rosey said is a beautiful color IMO, but the glitter chunks are way to big and fall all over my face through out the day. I use good quality brushes and tap of the extra, but still have the same problem. I would not recommend this duo to anyone unless you enjoy no color payoff and chunky glitter flexs. I do love my other Nars duo just not this particular one.

Its a gorgeous neutral duo, something that I rely NARS on always making. The shades are beautiful, and VERY shimmery. On the verge of sparkly. Creating loads of fallout. Not that I mind, but it can be a bit much when you’re looking to create a soft, mess-free look.

Holly cow, BIG BIG FALLOUT! I always do my eye makeup first so in case of any fallout I can clean my face easily, but I was literally picking out the golden flecks the minute I put the shadow on and still found some random bits here or there after I was done with my foundation and blush. Tapping the brush helped a little, but didn’t solve the problem. If you want to blend, better use a cotton pad to cover your face. What a hassle! The lighter one hardly has any pigmentation, and the darker one turns out very neutral, which is fine. Both are wearable for work during the day since they are quite subtle, I just don’t have time or patience in the morning to pick out all those sparkles! The application of the duo sure does not live up to the price tag! I’m returning it.

For reference, I’m in my mid-late 30’s, fond of subtle neutrals and do not like glitter. I don’t fly into a rage if I miss one fleck and get fallout, so I have no glitter issues with Silk Road. I was scared off initially by the warnings of other reviewers, but continued to obsess over the beautiful color combo until I found it in a swap. This duo is now ensconcing itself in my HG arsenal. It’s a very subtle look, like a slightly more rosy high-contrast alternative to AAE. I generally use the rose shade to contour and it gives me that oomph without the pinkeye look of some pink/peach shadows. A NARS MA also told me how to avoid the glitter–just tap your brush after picking up the rose color and the glitter falls, leaving only the shadow. Works like a charm.

I bought these when I got my makeup done at the NARS counter in Lord and Taylor. The makeup artist swatched the colors on me and I thought they were very beautiful but when I applied them to my eye there was a lot of fall out with the glitter and the pigmentation was sheer. These are not the reasons I buy $32 eyeshadow palette (esspecially from NARS which is know for their pigmentation). I would really like to see how professional makeup artists use this eyeshadow, because I really wasn’t impressed with it and was forced to return it.

This duo is gorgeous. I have been wearing All About Eve for years and when I saw this it reminded me of that duo only with more shimmer and prettier colors. It is a pale peach pink and a darker shimmer rose. It is really pretty with Mekong as a liner. It makes a great neutral eye with a little kick becauseo f the shimmer and the prettiness of the colors.

For what this duo costs I would expect it be be better quality. Some kind of applicator would be nice too. The lighter color is kind of chalky and not very pigmented, the darker color is a little better. It kind of reminds me of Urban Decay’s Midnight Cowboy but with way, way less glitter. The glitter fallout was not bad at all, it looks far more glittery in the pan than it is when you have it on and the glitter pieces are very fine and not chunky at all. The packaging is sturdy but I don’t really care about that since my eyeshadows sit at home in a makeup case. This was my first nars eyeshadow and I don’t think I’ll be getting another.
UPDATE: I like this less every time I use it. The darker color turns a weird pinish color after a while. I think I’m going to return it

This is a beautiful alternative to your usual All About Eve or otherwise neutral beige eye combination. The hint of cool rose/shimmery peach adds just the right amount of interest to make the look really gorgeous and seductive, especially if paired with some good black or brown eyeliner and lots of mascara. I don’t mind the gold flecks in the other shade. Although I understand that it can be distracting, it’s unexpected and interesting depending on what look you are playing with.

I really like these colors, just not the glitter. If I am careful, I can avoid the glitter.
