I tried the orange-ology and its such a fun orange. Apollo, not so much

I love this lipstick!! I am a bug fan of matte lips and this product does just that, mattifies your lips! It didnt clump up in one area and went on smooth and stayed on for a long time, I didnt have to reapply for two hours, if you like matte lips this product is a must try!

I have mine in the shade Apollo, which is an orangey-brown nude. I was drawn to these by the fact that they’re drugstore liquid lipsticks, affordably priced (I want to say mine was between 3 & 4 dollars at Ulta), and I really like the packaging. The way the cap looks is neat. And there is the satisfying “click” whenever you close it.
This product itself though doesn’t particularly impress me. It smells bad, kinda like chemicals or paint or something. The doe foot applicator is easy to use, but this product never seems to really completely dry down or set on my lips. Also to me the formula is a little gritty. Not very long lasting. The texture is between a liquid and a mousse… pretty typical for this type of liquid lipstick.
This stuff isn’t terrible, but it’s not the best either. I wouldn’t repurchase. Also Rimmel tests on animals so I’m not buying anything from the brand ever again.

Rimmel products for me are soo hit-and-miss. This one is definitely a miss, for me, anyway.
The colors are very pretty, but so many drawbacks. First, it can be tricky to apply. Even though it is a doe foot applicator, I often find it slips outside my natural lip line when I apply, even if I am careful. I just do not like to fuss with lip products, and to me, this is a ‘fussy’ product.
This also has a weird, chemical smell.
I will say that generally speaking, I am not a fan of matte lipsticks/lip products. I like the fact that they are not sticky obviously (hair does not stick to my lips when the wind blows, petty and quirky, yes I know, but it bothers me to have hair stuck to my lips, even for a second!! haha..) BUT, that said, these do not perform like a ‘true’ matte lip product, and there are other drawbacks.
One final note, for a matte lip product, I find these do not last very long at all. I get maybe 2 to 3 hours, max, out of this, and to me, that is not good, esp for a matte lip product (which I typically get a lot more wear with matte lipsticks).
If you look for and desire a true matte lipstick, I do not think this is a good one. It is a bit shiny when first applied (?), and buy time it ‘mattifies,’ the color seems to have faded off, and for me, these do not leave behind a stain, like most matte lipsticks tend to do.
There are better matte lipsticks out there, around the same price. I would recommend one of the Maybelline matte lippies or even a Jordana matte lipstick over these.
I only gave it 2-stars because the colors are pretty, and if the smell does not bother you (and if you accidentally get a ‘taste of these, imho, yuck!), and if you do not mind that these may not perform like a true matte lipstick (at least for me, these do not), then you might enjoy these, as the colors are quite pretty. But as I said, for me, the performance and other drawbacks make this a ‘no’ I would not re-purchase.

I’m really suprised with the reviews. I have all of the colors but my favorite is atomic rose. I really like the formula, it’s pretty hydrating and doesn’t make your lips feel ridiculously dry unlike other liquid lip products. The product takes a few minutes to set, so it’s not instantly liquid to matte. The lasting power is pretty good as well. I work an 8 and a half hour shift and I eat lunch between, and although the color doesn’t remain as true as it was after 5 or 6 hours of wear, it’s still visible. J like this product and I would re purchase, but of your looking for something that’s gonna be super long wearing and not come off at all, this is not the product. None the less, the colors are very pretty and they look nice not chalky on the lips. Keep in mind I dont have dry or cracked lips to begin with.

I should have read the reviews before buying this product but I was on a drugstore binge. Like the reviewers said below, these remind me a lot of NYX’s matte lip creams, which I do not like since they do not fully set like other liquid lips (Kat Von D, LimeCrime etc.). I might also add that it has the same mousse like texture, which I think feels like I have grease on my lips similar to eating fried chicken.
To its credit, the shade “Burning Lava” has a wonderful color pay off and looks exactly how advertised. However that will not be a redeeming quality for me and back to the store it goes.

These remind me a lot of NYX’s matte lip creams only not quite as comfortable as those, vastly smaller color selection (there’s like 4 or 5), and the wear is not quite as impressive.
The formula goes on more liquid that NYX’s. If you like their fluffy mousse texture this is a cross between that and a liquidy lipstick. It is extremely pigmented, even a thin layer will provide awesome coverage.
These take a bit longer to set than I expected. Once they do they are a very nice natural matte finish. They don’t have that velvety matte look. I like the finish a lot but they are not transfer proof.
So far I have tried Meteoric Matte which is a lovely bright fuchsia red and Burning Lava which is a deep red. The both require careful application and could definitely use lip liner. The colors are brighter and more lively than they appear in the tube.
I only feel compelled to purchase these on sale bc otherwise they are around the same price as NYX mattes and for full price I would rather add NYX to my collection.

I am on the matte lip color kick right now. I really like the NYX matte lip creams but my lips do dry out with them. I decided to try the Rimmel Show Off Lip Velvet in Matte colors because these are supposed to be less drying. The colors I bought were Atomic Rose, Burning Lava, and Meteoric Matte.
Finish/texture: First of all, the finish on the lips was not matte. It was really quite shiny. Unlike the NYX matte lip creams, these lip creams transfer and will get into your teeth and seep into the lines around you lips.
Color: colors are pretty, especially the reddish ones-Burning Lava and Meteoric Matte. The Atomic Rose was too light for my skin tone. Made me look a bit washed out and sallow.
Application: It is a light, fluffy, creamy substance. The applicator is doe foot with a divot or well in the middle to scoop up more product from the tube. Smooth and easy to apply. I would use a lip liner (see finish/texture).
Taste/scent: has a flowery, chemically scent and taste. Not particularly unpleasant. Not great either.
I will stick with NYX soft matte lip creams. These really do look and feel matte and don’t transfer, seep into the lines around you lips, or get on your teeth. I do dab a little Chapstick on my lips before applying and my lips stay moisturized and I still get the matte effect.

I have this in “Orange-ology” and it is beautiful. It’s a liquid lipstick. It doesn’t seem particularly matte on me, but the color is INTENSE. The doe-foot applicator has a little scoop on one side and holds lots of product. The only thing I didn’t like about this was the smell- very fake roses. But it fades in time and the color is definitely worth it. Doesn’t seem dry or anything, and I’m not sure if this is supposed to be a long-wearing lipstick, but it didn’t come off when I ate breakfast. I will need to try more of these!
