Very impressed by this brand so far, and this liner is certainly no exception. It performs just the way I want it to. The felt tip is fine and has just enough give to it – it’s not so soft that you lose precision, and not so hard that it’s unpleasant to use. Winged eyeliner is made easy with this one. The staying power is good as well. It’s actually says it’s waterproof, but that’s not actually true. When my eyes water it can make the liner smudge if I have winged eyeliner and wipe the “tears” away clumsily. It also won’t hold up if you rub your eyes a lot, but it stays perfectly put on me during a day with normal wear. It’s easy to remove at the end of the day, and it feels lightweight and non-irritating on my sensitive skin near the eye. I have a real problem with eyeliners giving me bad reactions, but this one feels very gentle without the longitivity being worse for it.
But by far the most revolutionary thing about this eyeliner is that once the tip of the liner has gone frayed, you can pull it out with a tweezer, turn it around, and put it back into the pen and continue using it! It’s so clever yet so simple, and I applaud Eye of Horus for figuring it out (at least I don’t know any other brand that has before them).
The packaging is sleek and elegant, much like the mascara’s. I like that the cap needs to click into place. You’ll notice if it’s properly on or not, so there’s no risk of accidentally leaving the cap half off and have the eyeliner dry out. Another clever thing is that you can fill the tip with liner by pushing the tip into the cap. Hopefully that’ll mean that the life span is even longer, since it shouldn’t dry out like felt tip liners are known to do.
I’ll be honest: the price is a bit hard to get over. But with the clever little things added to the design, it might just have a long enough life span to make up for it. For now, I just know that this is a really amazing liquid eyeliner!
edit, october 2016: having used this more by now, I really feel like I need to bump this down a notch to 3/5 lippies. My problems with it is mainly that it’s not opaque enough, and that the waterproof claim is ridiculous. For example, if I’ve drawn some lines on my hand while pushing some more product into the tip, they wash right off with water. And as mentioned before, it does smudge from teary eyes and such. For the price and the waterproof claim, I expect way more, and I actually wouldn’t repurchase.
