First off, while I’m a big fan of Paula Begoun’s work, and I know she frowns upon essential oils in skin care, I’ve also been reading a lot of books on how to safely incorporate EOs into your skin care regimen.
Now on to the product: Age Defy is an essential oil synergy blend from a company called Edens Garden. It is a blend of frankincense, helichrysum, lavender, myrrh, rose, and sandalwood. If you’ve read any EO books, you know each of these oils is a skin care powerhouse individually. According to the label the blend works to “protect and nourish skin while helping to reduce inflammation”. It has an overall sweet floral/woody smell. It’s hard to describe, but it’s nice.
They recommend mixing this with a carrier oil but I haven’t found a carrier oil that doesn’t break me out at some point. Luckily I can use aloe vera gel instead. I squirt some aloe gel in my hand and add one drop of Age Defy. Since aloe is water soluble, the EO doesn’t mix with it, so I swirl my little emulsion together between my palms really fast to get it as mixed together as it’s going to get, then spread it quickly all over my face, neck, and upper chest. My skin looks downright glowy some mornings when I wake up, and breakouts have been dramatically reduced. Time will tell if I’m defying my age or not… : -)
The price has gone up recently, but that’s because the price of the individual ingredients has gone up, so I can’t really fault them for that. I personally love this, but as always, your experience may vary.
