I’ve used a lot of tanning lotions, I’ve been in the bed tons of time. I have been professionally sprayed tanned. I really like this tanning gel because it really lasts up to 2 weeks. I always double application. I shower up to 4 times a day and it doesn’t get streaky. Make sure you don’t use a loofah or anything harsh when you shower to maintain the tan. Gently wash your body and when you dry yourself, PAT dry gently, do not rub. Rubbing will remove the tan and cause unevenness.

I have used this for years but they must have changed it because it STINKS so bad when it dries, even AFTER you shower! I mean…just horrible. It takes forever to dry and feels slimy. I have 2 bottles that I will not use. Not to mention the color is hardly noticeable.

eww. Horrible stuff. Im no virgin self tanner so trust me when I say this is one of the worst tanners on the market for a few reasons other have already mentioned. It smells horrible. There was so much fragrance in this it took my breath away. It also refuses to dry. I put it on at 8 pm and two hours later it was still wet and slick on my skin. The color payoff is good but very orange. Even though i applied it very sparingly over lotion it still stained my ankles. It looked very fake and uneven. Save your money.

I did not like this at all. The scent turned me off, but the sparkles in it were a turn off as well. I exfoliated very well, and I think because of that I didn’t have much streaking, but it took forever to dry and left “tan lines” on my feet where my sandals rubbed, I had let it dry for 45 miinutes right after toweling off after my shower. The color had an orange tint which I didn’t like, so all in all, I will end up throwing this out.

Not stinky. Not streaky. Whenever I use this I get tons of compliments on my
“tan”, especially in the winter when everyone else is suffering from paleness. Don’t let the “deep” shade scare you, it’s not too much, but it is a good, noticeable, healthy glow. All I do is exfoliate with st ives apricot scrub in the shower then dry off completely and slap on this gel. I’m really not that careful, and I’ve never had a streak. I wash my hands very well, then wait about 10 minutes before dressing and I try to go at least 8 hours before my next shower so that it has time to fully sink in and do the tan(not sure how scientific and/or necessary this is). My only complaint is that it covers you in chunky glitter, but even that part I kind of like and they wash away with the first shower and the color remains. The best thing about this product (besides the tan) is that it doesn’t have that offensive self-tanner scent. I also really enjoy the Sublime Glow lotion for days that I do not use this.

I didn’t like this that much at first so I bought a Sub Labs lotion and realized the color payoff I got from both was very similar. In the past I’ve used Jergen’s Foaming Self-Tanner and really liked it, but wanted something that would get me much darker. I have used L’Oreal’s Sublime Bronze in the past and got variable results…too much glitter and a little bit too unrealistic (but dark). In comparison I like the Gelee formula a lot better.
I use the Gelee on my legs and arms before I got to bed and apply Jergen’s Foaming Self-Tanner on the rest of my torso, wrist, hands, and face. I wear gloves when I apply them both and make sure I rub everything in really well. I have found it is best to apply tanner before I go to bed. You will get transferring on your bed and linens, but a lot of the smell will have dissipated by the time you get up. I recommend showering in the morning. It will wash away some of the tan, but it will wash away some of the funky smell…and you will still have a nice tan when you are done.
Like every self-tanner I have ever used this stuff looked really nice for about a week and then your skin sloughs off and you look patchy up close. I usually try to exfoliate at this point with my clarisonic and then keep applying self tanner nightly. It seems to even out again after that.
I have found that self-tanners pretty much require you to apply them nightly in order to maintain an even looking tan. It will take you awhile to apply the tanners at first, but once you get your routine down it will only take like 12-15 minutes to apply. I personally have to apply every night. Sometimes I can get away with missing one day, but I bath daily so my fake tan breaks down fast, but all the work is worth it because I have an awesome looking than that is healthier than being out in the sun and gets me a lot of compliments!
If you have tried self-tanning in the past and it was terrible give it a few more tries. It took me YEARS to figure out how to apply it all appropriately. There are also some really great videos online that explain how to apply self tanner.
Good luck! Stay healthy and beautiful! 🙂

I been using this for 4 months. Dont cofuse this with the lotion because i tried the lotion and i turned orange streaky and extremely glittery. I only buy the gelee in mediu and i get a nice bronze color overnight. The downside of this is it takes foreverr to dry so i usually use my blowdryer for a while. I’ve bought this so many times and buy backup just incase this gets discontinued. Thanks to this stuff i never have to use a tanning bed which is a definate plus considering how damaging tanning beds are to your skin, my skin feels so soft using this. I never look orange or streaky and i dont smell from it either. Overall i highly recommend this product if you are looking to get a fast nice safe tan. My advice is to start with your legs first and work in sections and wash your hands after every section and do your arms last. 🙂

Why oh Why did L’oreal add that horrible cologne smell to this? I know nobody likes the self tan odor but this is seriously a 100 times worse. Smells like cheap men’s cologne from the eighties. Couldn’t they have come up with some kind of a better scent? That said, at least they didn’t fool with the formula in any other way. I have been using this product for years now. It doesn’t streak and its priced low enough I can purchase it on a regular basis unlike St. Tropez, my favorite but too pricey for every day fake tan. I have super pale skin and used once I think it looks fairly believable. Anymore than that and I start looking a bit orangish. I like that its clear, if I need to I can wear it out though it stinks so bad now I might not. I apply at night. It does take a long time to dry but whenever L’oreal tries to make quick dry self tan it streaks so I just put it on at bedtime under old sweats. It does not usually break out my face though the perfume stink has been making my eyes red when I put it on now which was not a problem before…It does tend to get a bit patchy on me as it comes off instead of fading gradually though. I generally have to exfoliate a couple days after I apply it fairly aggressively.

I really liked this self tanner. I have tried all of the drug store self tanners and this and banana boat deep dark are my favorites. Its scary at first because its kind of a watery consistency and i thought it would streak. It dries pretty quick so you have to rub it in good and do it in small areas.
The one thing about this i didn’t like was that it dries but leaves your skin with a greasy film that last like an hour. But one it completely dries its worth it. Your get a very nice tan color from this product. I would def buy this again. I have tried sun labs and would say for the price this is a better buy.
One thing i didn’t really find that much on here was could i use this self tanner for my face. I was really scared to try because they break me out pretty bad and this was like a sticky gel substance. I gave it a try anyway and did not break out at all. My face looked tan without all the pimple i would normally get from other self tanners.

I have used A LOT of self tanners over the years, and this is the best I’ve found. I have very pale skin with freckles and really hate sunbathing as it dries out my skin and really only affects the freckles. But I am one of those people that looks so much better with a slight tan! This stuff gives a really nice summer glow when I put it on about 3 times per week. Any more than that it can look pretty orange though. This gives a more noticeable tan than others I’ve used and doesn’t fade in blotches. My one complaint is every time I’ve tried using it on my face I get a really bad break out. However it doesn’t cause any body breakouts. It can be pretty greasy so plan to let it air dry for a bit before putting on clothes! I typically use it in the morning before I blow dry my hair and do my eye makeup.
After a lot of trial and error, I have found an exfoliation method that really works to keep a self tan super even. What I will do is take one of those skin brushes used for dry skin brushing and do the dry skin brushing method (using circular motions up the body) then I will shower and shave, then after the shower I will dry brush again. I apply a non-greasy lotion to feet, knees, under the boobs, armpits, elbows and wrists. After this I will apply the loreal sublime bronze. It has really made a difference in the appearance of a self tan!!
