A clean, musky/almond floral. Light, feminine, sexy.
The salty and aquatic notes are there, but tempered nicely by the amber and vanilla. It’s a bit soapy, but not powdery, not fruity, sweet, or loud, and no dry blast of cold florals. It’s warm enough and it’s cool enough. I love it for everyday wear. I rotate between this, No. 5 Eau Premiere and Eternity Now as my daily drivers. I wouldn’t wear this in winter, or for an evening event or date night, it lacks the personality for those occasions. But it’s perfect for spring or summertime walks, beach trips, backyard get togethers and tank-tops-and-sandals type outings.
It doesn’t have that premium high-end distinction in formula, projection or longevity. It feels like a mall fragrance, but it is one that’s quite nicely done. And thanks to the fact that it’s no longer sold in stores, it’s ever so slightly exclusive.
It wears close and needs to be reapplied often. I wish it were better in those aspects.
Based on the other reviewers, we’re all kind of thinking along the same lines. I don’t know how much room there is for subjectivity with this fragrance. Think casual, light, sexy, clean. And you have Close.
It shares a fair amount of notes with Bronze Goddess, and I can definitely smell the similarities. Both are suited to the same casual, warm weather wearability. I own both but prefer Close. Bronze Goddess is sweeter and less floral, where Close is more aquatic and salty. (To me)
**JORetail on Amazon is where I get mine. I still have a bottle I got from GAP to compare to, and they sell the real deal, at least according to my nose. A little overpriced though.

I grabbed Close as an impulse purchase at TJ Maxx. The bottle is so cute, like a cloudy raindrop with a faint opalescent sheen. In the bottle I smell musk, soap, and almond. Unfortunately, it only smells like musk on my skin. A thick musk that chokes me. I wanted to like it. Oh well, I’m using it as poopouri.

Bought this lovely scent for a few dollars at TJMaxx. It’s a very clean and fresh scent without the Pinesol citrus scent that annoys me in other “fresh” fragrances. It’s very subtle and sits close to the skin. It’s a unique scent that’s sexy in a very light and understated way…I love it!

An understatedly elegant and very unique fragrance. Salt is listed as one of the notes, no wonder it’s really like no other on the market currently. The sweetness comes from the vanilla notes. It’s extremely sexy, soft, warm, and so feminine. Nothing harsh. It’ makes me feel like that gorgeous girl who seems comfortable in her own skin. Who has her own style. It never tries too hard. Everything about this fragrance feels innate. This ties with my Chanel Chance Eau Tendre as an all-time FAV. Simply beautiful. Like their clothes, accessories make it your own signature. This fragrance, upon application, morphs into its own entity. Lingers and identifies. It’s like locking eyes with a beautiful stranger, if only briefly. Subtle at first glance, then you become completely intoxicated. Memorable and eternal. If attraction had a scent, GAP bottled it! LOVE!

Lovely little scent that has a bit of sweet floral hidden away to come out and sorta grab you as it dries down. Unfortunatelly, it only lasts about 2 hours (being generous here) and until then is lovely. Gave a low score since it’s so close to the skin and lasts so little. It’s inexpensive enough to reapply frequently but I just don’t have the time and it’s not that special to go to the effort.

DOES NOT LAST. This was a real disappointment. It smells really good. It has a spicy and clean scent and reminds me of CK-One somewhat. The staying power however is awful. I put this on, and I swear an hour later I could not smell it at all. I had to give it away, it was a real waste of money.

I really wanted a change from my flowery scents. Something clean and refreshing to cut through a hot, sticky summer’s day . after debating for ages, I got it, but I only wore it once. something about it is quite ‘spicy’ kinda like when you smell chilli powder and it kinda stings your nose and the back of your throat. what a shame 🙁 .

Love this scent. Very nice, soft, pleasant but more importantly, husband thinks its realllly nice:) Other fragrances I like/own: Lancome Poeme, Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche, Egoiste Platinum, Juicy Couture

This is one of the most interesting scents I’ve come across, and I really think it’s one of the hidden gems of 2009. I’d gone into Gap intending to buy underwear and left with this instead. It’s so unusual-it’s described as a floral musk, but I don’t feel that accurately describes this perfume. Top notes are salt water, citrus, and fresh almond, which, to me anyway, is a lovely and unusual combination. Through these, medium notes of florals-heliotrope, freesia, and jasmine peek through, and soften the harshness of the salt. The base notes of sandalwood, musk, vanilla, and amber blend with the florals and intensify them just enough. The overall effect is very beachy-think of the Atlantic ocean in the summer, when the flowers hit the sand of the beach, and the fragrance hits the sea air. It’s very light, modern, fresh, and feminine.
It’s not an overpowering perfume; it’s definitely a scent that is to be smelled at close range (hence the name “Close”). Bottom line, it’s a very romantic scent, really meant to be smelled by your SO when he/she gets close to you and smells your neck, your wrists, behind your ears, your hair, and left as a reminder on a pillow; even the bottle mirrors the scent: a simple tear-drop shaped bottle with a small silver cap and gorgeous pink-white opalescent sheen. This has taken a place of pride on my vanity.

I’m not a big fragrance follower, but I caught this one at a GAP store recently and was surprised by how much I liked it! All the scents involved really compliment each other – white flowers, a little salty beach air, light and airy.
It’s not an overpowering fragrance and it really is meant to be smelled up close. Nice and fresh and it really compliments my natural body chemistry – the price is pretty decent, too, and I can see this working really well as an all-day fragrance.
