The moment I saw pictures of the Italian lace embossing of this limited edition Spring/Summer 2016 Runway Palette highlighter I went “squeeeeee” before falling into a state of obsession until I got it into my possession (in Nude Gold). I’m usually quite disciplined as I go gaga at pretty much any limited edition highlighter (and there’s still barely a dent in my trusty Bobbi Brown beige shimmer brick after 2.5 years’ near-daily use), but my justification for caving in to this Burberry offering was that I’d recently lost my Dior Transat golden shimmer compact.
Quite frankly, I didn’t care what the blog reviews about this Runway Palette said as I had already decided that I needed it in my life. But since it’s a Burberry product, there were quite a few references to “finely milled”, “refined” etc.
I was actually a bit surprised when I swatched it at the store that the powder particles were on the sparkly glittery side (and I’m really not buying into the strobing trend when I already live in a hot and humid climate). I still think my Bobbi Brown beige shimmer brick gives a more refined finish, but this Runway Palette doesn’t disappoint and I apply with a light hand anyway. I tend not to notice colour differences between different shades of gold/ beige highlighters once they’re on my face, so cannot speak much to the Nude Gold shade itself.
I love the idea of this product much more than what it delivers in reality, and the Burberry packaging gets me every time. I don’t regret the purchase as I really do enjoy the lace embossing and handling the weighty polished metal case when I use it, but it’s not something which would require replacement if I finished the palette or lost it.
