This reminds me so much of my beloved, discontinued L’Oreal 24hr Power Volume. HG status here! Yes, the packaging is cheesy and let me tell you—it put me off buying it for the LONGEST time. Also, I had tried the original Colossal in the past and that brush was MASSIVE and all I ever did was accidentally tap mascara onto my contacts every. single. time I used it. So I was very much not interested in another, as advertised, HUGE mascara brush. But I have been on the hunt for a new, reliable mascara that gave me pretty, fluttery, semi-dramatic every day lashes. Mine are long but super straight so I go for volume and wp formulas (to hold a curl.) I had been using The Rocket for a little bit but so far, it just was kind of okay. It gave volume but could get clumpy in a hurry and it seemed to do a very meh job of coating and separating every lash. Not a fan of the formula overall, with that one—so I’ve been bouncing back and forth between The Rocket, a couple of Revlon’s new ones (volume + definition & ultimate volume) and not really loving the results with any of them.
CUT TO; Me in CVS, armed with coupons + determination and feeling a little bit desperate. There are a kajillion mascaras in the drugstore—SOMEBODY has to make one that gives me what I want. I started doing my usual google search for images/reviews and going up and down the aisle and typing in product names. Pumped Up Colossal, surprisingly, seemed to consistently provide for reviewers the volume and multiplying/separation I was so keen to track down in a mascara. The reviews on MUA were mixed but I have learned with mascaras especially, to take those reviews with a grain of salt. I think mascara is a hyper-personal product, i.e. everyone has different lash “needs”. So I took the plunge and was fully prepared to be disappointed upon application this morning. Not so!
Lo, and behold this mascara is PERFECT for me AND perfect upon first application!!! It has kind of a drier, more mousse-like consistency that kept me from making a total mess with a newly opened mascara (we all know most mascaras usually start out too wet and age to workable perfection over time), color me impressed! The brush is only fat in the middle but tapered at both ends—which really gave me the ability to get to all my corner lashes and ZERO contact lens accidental transfer! With two coats, my lashes look defined, multiplied, and fluttery with nary a clump! Gorgeous! Holds a curl like a champ and no flakes or smudges throughout the day! Love it!!!
NOTE: It’s been in Maybelline’s line-up for a while and I’m kind of nervous about discontinuation but Maybellline seems to hang onto a bigger roster of mascaras for waaay longer than most companies so I have my fingers crossed that this one won’t see the ax anytime soon. A+ #hiddengem

All I wanted was a waterproof mascara with NO fallout. I dont really enjoy buying mid/high end Mascaras because they have a short life span and are prone to bacteria growth. I have average already dark lashes, and this does the job of lengthening them and not making them clumpy. This lasts all day and night for me with NO fallout. Keep in mind some mascara has fallout on some people, and on others it doesn’t.
I usually wear pretty heavy eye looks, so as long as my lashes are black I am happy.
I would get this again because it gets the job done and its cheap.

If you want a mascara that will irritate your eyes and have lots of fallout, this is for you. Personally I like not too wet mascaras (dry ones are fine too) and I felt like this was the correct consistency, but boy was I wrong. It gets super dry on your eyelashes and will start flaking and getting into your eyes and then fall on your cheeks. When I’ve worn it before I come home and under my eyes are just completely filled with black specs and flakes! I wouldn’t recommend this mascara at all because of this!

Brush was too large for my small eyes and short lashes.

I have average lashes. Average length, volume and curl. I always use my shu uemura eyelash curlers prior to applying my mascara.
this mascara is above average. It gave me great length and volume after applying a second layer. It’s a drier formula which I prefer but I felt I have to work a little harder to get the desired look I want. The other complaint I have is the bulky packaging and wand. I have large eyes and still found the brush to be too big. I purchased this for $8 CAD on sale.

I’m nearly at a loss for words to describe how much I hated this mascara! I’ve tried countless mascaras, and generally only waterproof formulas. Pumped Up is CLUMP CITY! When I say that my wand is a huge gob with only the tips of each bristle tip showing… that should say something. This stuff globs my lashes into spider legs on the very first stroke and it only goes downhill in wiggling to separate. The only thing that I’ve found it usable for is on my outer lashes over a coat of any good lengthening mascara. Weighs my lashes down badly, doesn’t hold much curl at all. Just BAD.

I don’t review that many makeup products but do not buy this product! The advertisement claims this mascara is waterproof but it isn’t! I’ve tried to use this mascara multiple times but it keeps smudging and transferring onto my eyelid and under eyes! I don’t use any mascara on my bottom lashes and I’ve never had a mascara transfer onto my eyelids before. I’m sticking to L’Oreal mascaras now!

RIDICULOUS. I purchased this based upon the packaging and commercial- sounded awesome. It is GARBAGE. They have balls calling this colossal volume – so silly. PLEASE save your money !!!!!!! L’oreal is terrific ! All the mascaras are amazing. I don’t like ANY cover girl or maybelline! cheap crap!

This mascara is alright but pales in comparison to other mascaras available. It does give volume but the lashes always feel tacky and never completely dry. Besides the Rocket, I am not very impressed with Maybelline’s waterproof formulas. It does not hold a curl fantastically and the consistency feels moussey, almost like the “Mega-plush” formula. The packaging is just eye-catching and unnecessarily large. I believe I like the original Colossal Express better

My lashes are very long but have no curl whatsoever. Any mascara I use just weighs down my lashes, except this one. It adds great volume and length, and really does hold a curl on me. I usual wear this for about 8-10 hours a day and my lashes stay up and have minimal smudging. Only downside is the wand is quite big and can get messy, but I can deal with it.
