   This did absolutely NOTHING for me. Maybe it’s just my hair type (fine, but lots of it).
   No noticeable shine, no bounce/body, no improvement whatsoever. I tried using varying amounts of it, but each time the result was as if I’d used nothing at all.
   I agree with the other reviewer that it does have a distinct masculine smell. Not unpleasant, but too strong in my opinion.

   Seriously amazing. I have overall healthy hair- never coloured, semi-wavy, medium to thick texture. I do, however, have an oily scalp, so I don’t generally use too many products. I really liked the description of this product though, since I do always tend to blow-dry my hair (I feel like it gets oily very fast if I don’t). This definitely upped my game and I am sincerely loving it. It gives my hair a light airy/weightless look and adds some volume while keeping my waves in place and actually enhancing them. I used to use the Caviar CC 10-1 cream after every shower (because that one is great too) but I feel like recently I am using this one more just because of the life it gives my hair. Just finished my tube and I’m definitely repurchasing asap.

   Oh, how I hate to be the one break up a product lovefest. But I gotta do it. I purchased Redken Velvet Gelatine at Ulta after reading all the glowing reviews because it sounded custom made for my hair (fine hair that needs more body, shine, swing, etc.). I have two major complaints:

   1) It makes my hair TOO soft…as in no volume whatsoever. I thought it would perform better than a standard mousse, but it completely underwhelmed me (and, yes, I used it exactly as directed and described by several reviewers). I expected a “WOW” factor and I didn’t get it.

   2) THE SMELL!! Let me start by stating that I am NOT sensitive to fragrances. I can roll with just about any added scent in a product — Herbal? Love it. Citrus? One of my faves. Minty? Bring it on. But I think this smells unabashedly like men’s cologne. It’s described as a “green citrus,” but I don’t detect those notes at all. To me, It smells very strongly of juniper. It’s pleasingly fresh, yes, but distinctly masculine. Like a gin & tonic! And again, it’s strong. When I returned it to Ulta, the sales clerk asked for a reason for the return and I told her I thought it smelled like a men’s product, she sniffed it and completely agreed with me.

   So there you have it. Sorry I couldn’t keep the love alive.

   For reference: shoulder length, long layers, naturally wavy from ears downwards, fine, color treated hair.

   My hair stylist used this product on me and I loved how it gave my hair volume, movement, and shine without being sticky or stiff. I ended up buying it. I rub a small amount between my palms, apply, and comb through. I would definitely repurchase. It costs around $20.00 Canadian before taxes.

   Great blow dry gel for men’s pompadour hair style. Gives such a uniform sleekness without a high shine. Gives your hair natural movement even without any additional product.

   This stuff! My word. I have the world’s worst hair. Fine, limp, damaged, genetically sad. Got a great cut and a stylist with the knowledge to recommend this. Wow. She explained how it will help style while managing “swing’. Nailed it! My hair can move but has focused direction! Absolutely amazing. I also use “Guts” spray at roots on nights out for height. I have a blunt, slightly layered, just-below-chin length bob. Worth the price tag and smells wonderful.

   So this is what I’ve been missing my whole life. This item has been on my ‘things to try’ for years, but for one reason or another, I’ve never picked it up. Last week I decided to try it, and wow, am I ever impressed! And mad that I didn’t try it sooner, wasting my money on other products that have not delivered (oh I could give you a list of what is even now sitting unused in my product basket). In fact, I wish that I’d tried it before buying my new Avanti flatiron, as I almost have no need for flat ironing now! At least my old irons would have been enough. Dang! Whaa?

   This product makes my hair behave perfectly, and the results are so easy to get! Now drying my hair with a round brush and blow dryer delivers the perfect results every time! My hair is fuller, softer, bouncier, shinier, and healthier looking, and keeps in my style all day – no falling or flattening. Even the next day it still looks great and full of body. And with less hot tools to have to rely on, my hair will only improve in condition. Did I mention how soft and touchable my hair is now? I used to have to use so many products to keep the style in place my hair was stiff and crunch – couldn’t run my fingers through it.

   I do use my lovely Avanti flatiron to smooth out my bangs and a few ends, but do not have to rely on that step to make my hair ‘acceptable’ anymore – there’s no need, as my hair is already perfection after the blow dry. Holy cow! For my fine chin length bob I use a large pea size. Posted a pic – not bad for 55 y.o.!

   I’m going to do a full flat iron effect on my hair soon just to see how it looks after this product and blow drying, but so far I’m totally happy with the way my hair is with minimal intervention from the flat iron. I’m disgusted thinking of the money I could have saved on appliances and products if I’d only tried this first…..

   I don’t even know how to begin to describe this. I am still in awe that it works like it does on my shoulder length, super fine, dry, frizzy, color treated hair. My hair looks like I just came from my stylist every day, shortens drying time, adds volume, and reduces frizz. I first use Redken’s 07 Layer LIft as a root lifter, then about a nickel size, rub it between my palms to melt it and run it through damp hair from roots to end, then style as usual. My hair has never looked better, even in my youth. Great line of products.

   My hairdresser uses this on me, and to my delight, I’ve been able to recreate the same blowout at home when using this gel! Velvet gelatin cuts down my drying time, adds volume and just a smidge of hold… it’s as if it gives my hair a “memory” of the style, allowing me to wear it for 3 days with virtually no breakdown. This reduces frizz but adds no heavy gloss (hence the “natural shine” description), which means hair looks and feels cleaner for longer. While this product isn’t perfect (strong cologne-type fragrance, pricey), it’s a great tool in achieving a professional look, even for very curly hair.

    This is another HG hair product for me. I discovered this at the beginning of the summer when my hair needed it the most. Every time I blew my hair straight and flat ironed it, I had problems with frizz and my hair kinking and “blowing up” as soon as I spent a little time outside in the humidity. However, this stuff eliminates that! I just use a dime sized amount, rub it between my palms and apply to my damp hair before heat styling. I find that I don’t even really need a brush with this stuff, it does a really good job of getting the kinks and frizz out of my hair and it also speeds my drying time up so I’m not blasting my hair with dryer heat for 20 minutes! I’m able to run the flat iron over my hair to smooth it and out the door I go! I also love the fact that it keeps my hair straight with a little volume all day without frizz! This stuff is a miracle in a bottle and I absolutely love the woodsy, fresh smell!
