I got the shade poppy nude, a bright orange-red. The lipstick is truly matte, but not drying. It feels very light in the lips, oddly drying to a thin, wax-like seal. I don’t mind the resulting texture (because it feels so light) and i think that it contributes to the longevity if the lipstick. The color remains bright for up to 4 strong hours, but stays solidly on throughout the day. Touching up is no hassle; the lipstick does not cake. Did I mention it’s gorgeously matte?

These are so similar to the Nars lip pencils it’s scary! The shades are lovely and range from nudes to darker reds, very on-trend colors. These lip pencils are matte but don’t feel like they are drying out your lips- as other reviewers have said they feel more balmy but appear to be very matte. The color lasts for a long time- comparable to the Nars imo. For a fraction of the price of the Nars pencils I think these are a great bargain!

I own a bunch of the NARS Matte Velvet Lip Pencils. Allow me to explain to you the *only* reason I prefer NARS’ version – their shades are more “pale-friendly”. Other than that, I’d be reaching for the Sonia Kashuk Velvety Matte Lip Crayons if I were darker than NW/NC15.
The formulas are very similar. I am *not* a fan of the matte lip trend. To be honest it just looks ugly to me and nobody needs to see my premature granny lips dried out by a lip color. These however, do not dry out your lips. They are balmy, yet have a matte finish. The pigmentation is pretty good too!
My favorite shade is Pinky Nude. That is my favorite shade because it’s the lightest of her line. Unfortunately even then, it’s still a medium warm nude/pink hue on me. Perhaps Pinky Nude will be perfect when I have a spray tan applied.

I have this in Poppy Nude. It is a very nice orangy color. It is a bit drying with time. The color lasts and lasts though.

These have been slightly revamped and have more modern black packaging. I have some of the NARS pencils, but I prefer the SK shade range and price (except for the NARS reds). There are too many similarities to tell them apart sometimes. Both brands have shades that vary with pigment, but you can build the color easily. I don’t have anything bad to say about them. The lasting power is about the same as the NARS version without lip liner.
Poppy Nude- an intense red orange that is opaque and still a soft matte.
*new* Spicy Nude- exactly as it says. A brown nude with some 90’s spice.
*new* Rasberry Nude- a pink/fuchsia rose color.
Mulberry Nude- an rosy brown.

Love this product! This was my first product from Sonia Kashuk and i absolutely love it. The colour is nude and nice for everyday however am i the only one who does not like the smell of it? I hate the smell of it. Its really off/cheesy. Let me know if you’re having the same problem and if so what can i do to avoid that.

As other reviewers have said, I am surprised that this lip crayon hasn’t garnered more reviews! As much as I love high-end products, from time to time, I stumble into my local Target and find certain products that just do the trick at a fourth of the cost. This lip crayon is one of them! The entire Sonia Kashuk line is affordable, high-quality, and provides an excellent array of items.
I bought this lip crayon in Pinky Nude and it is such a beautiful pigmented color on my lips. The finish is matte and it allows you to draw on bigger, fuller lips. I love matte lip products, and this crayon just does that and it stays on for a long time. I do have to touch up during the day, as is expected for lip products, but so far I am loving it and will definitely be repurchasing!

I purchased Rosey Nude, which is a soft neural sandy pink. Another reviewer said this Is orange based red(?!) which clearly mine is not.
I like the portability of lip crayons during travel so that is a huge plus. I love this color, the ease of application and the predictable packaging. What I don’t love is the sheerness of this formula. I expected this to be creamier and at least somewhat buildable. It is not. I also noticed this really accentuates any dry patches on my lips. I exfoliate AND wear a sheer balm yet i see flakes I didn’t know I had. At my local Target just about all of Sonia Kashuk’s cosmetics were on sale. This was $3+ as were the 2 nail polishes I bought. I love her polishes and a few other items in her line a it more than this product. I will keep this one for summer but I doubt Id repurchase.

Review for Poppy Nude. COLOR: gorgeous orange-based red, one swipe delivers bright color, two swipes for vivid opacity. I apply the pencil at a slant and the pencil fills in my cupid’s bow and corners very nicely. TEXTURE: this is a true matte. That said, it doesn’t dry my lips out or settle into fine lines. This doesn’t need lipliner because it doesn’t bleed or feather. Super duper slight transfer to cups, etc. After it ‘dries down’ or settle on the lips, it feels like it forms a thin film on top of the lips to keep the color and the moisture in. Then it feels like you have nothing in the lips. It’s very comfortable. LONGEVITY: this color lasts and lasts, but if you like, after 4 hours a touch up adds a little brightness, with no clumping or feathering.

I have this in Berry Nude and plan to get more colors. Berry Nude literally looks like if you took a berry lipstick and a nude one and smushed them together. A muted, rosy MLBB shade with a bit more punch. It’s supposed to be a dupe for Sex Machine by Nars, but for like, $7.
I love the way it applies. It’s totally matte but with slip so it goes on smoothly with no tugging. The pencil is a medium size so it’s easy to line and fill in without smudges like a fat pencil or taking forever like a normal liner. I find it to be long lasting, and the pigment sort of melds with your lips and leaves a bit of a stain, fading evenly with no ring around the lips. I can get away with applying 2x a day. Doesn’t emphasize flakies! It can migrate to your teeth though, and I’d prefer a twist-up crayon because I hate sharpening pencils and it wastes product. I will say that the cap stays on in your makeup bag, which some companies can’t seem to figure out…oh, and my crayon is in black packaging, not white like the pic.
They can’t keep these puppies in stock at all my local Targets, they’re that good.

I love matte lipstick and I was looking for a fairly natural matte lipstick with a hint of pink. I have Berry Nude. It’s seriously a great! I have serious problem with matte lipsticks being too drying, but the pencils do not dry out your lips very much and that staying power isn’t too bad. Like someone else already commented, Berry Nude what Nars Sex Machine (which I also own) should’ve been. In fact, I might even like this pencil better than the comparable Nars Matte pencil.

I bought it in rosy nude which is an orange based red. The crayon is truly matte and easy to apply. It does not bleed or smudge easily but it will fade with eating or drinking, otherwise fairly longwearing. Overall a pretty, retro-looking color and I would repurchase although I prefer blue reds.

I noticed my target was sold out of these almost completely they had a nude color and rosey nude. Red lips are my staple so I grabbed the last rosey nude. At first The name confused me as the color at the end of the stick was a beautiful true red but it was called rosey nude but I shrugged it off. When I tried out it all made sense, a few swipes and you got a natural rosey red color, a few more you got a gorgeous matte red lip that some how still looks natural -ish. I love the matte texture. It’s truly matte almost powdery but doesn’t dry you out. It last throughout drinking pretty well but may need another application after food. But it wears off in a lovely way. Very light and just an all around good everyday sort of red if your into that.

I have two of these – in Rosey Nude and Berry Nude – and I am a bit in love. They are quite matte, which is not usually my favorite, but tends to make the color last and look very natural. They are at Target for under $8. They do need to be sharpened with a sharpener, but I can live with that.
I got Rosey Nude first, because there were only two of these true-red pencils left and I figured that meant they were in demand and probably pretty good. I was right. With reddish hair and fair skin, I don’t normally do red lips. But this is an amazingly wearable color, even on me! I figure that it probably looks even better on darker skin tones and on people who wear red more often.
I wanted to break out of my rut for fall, and this is a good way to do it.
Next, I got Berry Nude because I liked the first one a lot but wanted to try a more neutral color. It’s lovely – dark enough to show up but MLBB enough to go with every look. I believe Berry Nude is the second-darkest of the nude colors (next to Mulberry Nude). I wouldn’t mind trying Mulberry Nude, but I don’t think I’ll bother with any of the lighter colors. I just don’t think they’ll show up well on me.
I love that this is a pencil-crayon and easy to apply in the right place. I don’t mind that it is matte; I sometimes use it just to amp up the pigment of a tinted balm or gloss. This pencil is easy to carry around for touch-ups and reasonably priced. I find that it lasts really well. There may be a packaging change in the works because I got one white pencil with a silver cap and one matte-black pencil with a matching black cap. I like the black better, as it looks more expensive.

I am really surprised there are not more reviews (raves) of this product.
I have it in Rosey Nude, which is a medium, soft red. It’s a red for people who are afraid of reds (like me).
I just adore this lip pencil so much. It instantly brightens up my face (light to medium with yellow undertone), without screaming “look at me, I’m wearing red lipcolor!”
The texture is very smooth, with a matte finish. I usually put on a lipbalm, wait a couple of minutes, blot off the excess, then apply this.
I press my lips together a couple of times to get the color into my lips. Then I don’t have to worry about it smearing, or getting on my teeth (my #1 fear when wearing a dark or bright lip color).

These are great dupes of Nars jumbo lip pencils! Rosen nude is a bright red lip color, great to wear alone or I prefer to use at as somewhat of a lip primer under my favorite red matte lipstick. It has a soft texture, glides on very smoothly, and doesn’t cake up!

Saw it in the store and just felt like testing out more matte products from other companies. Really drying when I applied it it felt rough. Doesn’t really go on evenly and I just wasn’t really happy it was a waste of 8 dollars for me. Plus it didn’t even stay on long.
