I’ve kept a bottle of this in my beauty arsenal for at least 7 years now, probably longer. It’s such a pretty color.
The best way to describe it is to say that it’s a slightly shimmery, almost metallic, warm, dark plum. It’s almost sensual.
It’s such a pretty color that is great for the colder months, especially when you want to stray off the beaten path and try something other than red for the holiday season.
I think it would look beautiful on all sorts of skin tones, from very fair to very dark. It’s unique yet pretty, so I recommend giving this one a go when you’re in the mood for something different.

This is such a pretty color. It’s a deep cranberry/maroon, with a slight metallic finish. I think it looks like car paint- when the sun hits it you can see depth and slight shimmer, but it’s not glittery. It’s restrained enough for office wear, but also will look beautiful and special for evening. This is one of those go-to colors which I know will always look amazing. My one complaint is that it really does take a long time to dry- unusually long compared to my other polishes, and I often end up with smudges and nicks because of it.

Gorgeous color but the thick formula makes it really hard to apply and make look good. Drying time is also pretty slow. I’ll stick to using it on my toes instead of fingers.

Kind of wished I had not bought this, only because I later really I already have what is basically the exact same color–“Diva of Geneva” by OPI, which I LOVE. I think DoG (lol) might have actually been discontinued, but it is one of my faves, so StD (again, LOL) makes for a great dupe. Both shades are gorgeous deep, sort of purply red. It just has kind of a witchy/sexy bad-girl vibe. Great for the colder months, when you’re in a darker mood. Another reviewer mentioned that it can get a bit goopy. I’ve noticed this is the case with both the SH and the OPI shade. I’m not a chemistry expert, but I think that’s kind of just the nature of dark shades in general–they do thicken over time, and it’s best to keep them in the cold if possible. Sheerer shades definitely stay thinner. Dark shades seem like they’re more trouble than they’re worth sometimes, but they look cool so enjoy them while they last. Try to apply coats as thin as you can so it will set properly; otherwise, yes, smudging and scratching is an issue. I let my nailsies try for probably at least half an hour but still ended up smudging my nail a bit because I think I painted it on a bit too thick. Goregous shade, nonetheless!

I am so torned about this product. I loooooove the color. Save the date is my very favorite color ever in a nail polish!! But…the quality of the product is disapointing to me. I feel like it never really dries!! And the texture is king of weird, kind of too thick.
But, I admit I will be buying again because the color is fantastic!

Can’t decide between burgandy and purple? Want a bit of shimmer without having your retinas seared out of your skull? Wanna go dark without becoming Elvira, Mistress of the Dark? (Or hey maybe you do?) Then try Save the Date from Sally Hansen’s Diamond Strength line. Seriously. It’s really lovely. And I know, because I’m an
annonymous name from the Internet. How can I steer you wrong?
For a good saturated color, I use two coats. (The formula is runnier than my SH Xtreme Wear colors, but not watery.) Drying time is respectable, even with my gnat-on-crack attention span, and the color is very true to the bottle. Even without a basecoat I have yet to have this color stain my nails. The lasting power is good, usually about week (Bear in mind I don’t often use topcoats and by then there is a noticable growout line at my cuticle. Also, my nails are short, so there isn’t much bending of the nail iteself to foster cracking, YMMV.)
All in all, Save the Date is a keeper in my paint box. It dresses up well, looks rich and juicy and is a wonderful warm plummy/bordeaux that pairs particularly nicely with neutrals. Try it if you’re needing a break from the bright shades!
