A modern classic . Silver Woods or Bois d’argent is totally unisex and has all the marks of a fine perfume ticking all the right boxes for mysteriousness , subtle tenacity , intrigue , a bit of drama , class and taste . I love the smell which never stays the same of me ! Sometimes sweeter , sometimes woodier.. So it is not a scent one gets bored with .
I love Hypnotic Poison also but Bois d’argent still a scent that I prefer .
Both HP and B d’ A are signed by Annick Menardo .

This perfume is a cross between Guerlain L’Instant Magic and Hypnotic Poison. Powdery almondy sweetness with a dash of licorice from HP. Nice, subtle, soft. If L’Instant Magic was too baby powder for you, this may be just right.

I’m generally not a fan of perfumes or fragrances but I fell in love with BD’A 3 years ago and have been madly in love/obsessed with it ever since. I adore the fact it is unisex and not too feminine or girly or fruity.
It’s almost old fashioned, but not quite. It smells so much like nostalgia…a really good, old, sunshine-through-the-curtains memory. There is a trace of mellow honey, powdery iris and incense, all culminating in a really well balanced, buttery fragrance that melts into you; it isn’t overpowering or invasive but lingers subtly, blending seamlessly into your skin’s own natural fragrance. It’s perfect for all seasons, day or night and although it’s not a ‘statement’ perfume, it is distinctive enough to stand out amongst the generic super-sweet or ozone-y smells that you smell on people everywhere – but only to the people who you let close enough to you to smell it. Which for me is what a perfume should be about.

Oh my goodness. I am getting licorice out of this. Unbelievable. Ick. On second testing, months later, I don’t get licorice but now it smells too sweet and musty. I guess this one just wasn’t made for me.

This is a men’s fragrance and would probably be great on a guy, but he’ll have to buy his own because I’m not sharing mine. Soft wood and a bit of leather sweetened with a touch of honey, I’m surprised there’s no amber listed for the notes. When the weather gets a little too warm to wear my Ambra Tibet, this will replace it. This is much more of a year round scent.

Out of the trio, i cannot decide whether Bd’A or EN is my favorite, i have an intense love affair with these two, and i’m afraid that i have to leave the cologne blanche behind since it’s a bit feminine for my taste. Bd’A is ultra versatile, i can see how EN is meant for night time since it’s a bit stronger, spicer and has a more powerful sillage. Bd’A is more comfort, the honey incense combo is really amazing, and good thing it’s quite subtle so not to wipe out a radius of population even if you go overboard. Also gets tons of compliments on it too, what more can i ask for, it truly is worthy of Dior’s brand! Bravo!!!

Is this a masculine scent?I would never guessed that, i just read the other reviews.I get some compliments last day when i wore that and one that was so much about how feminine this smell, from my mailman from all people the one that makes me happy bringing my perfume treasures from around the world,so i’m really puzzled.I love the iris topnote on bois d’argant that gradually deepens in a spicy myrrh heart and after 1 hr i can positively say that i get some leather.Anyway it’s a nice but somehow simple perfume that did’nt really win me.

My best friend wears this cologne and every time I hug him I can feel this beautiful perfume everywhere on me for hours! It is such an amazing fragrance, clean and sweet yet masculine and sexy. I am not crazy about incense base fragrances, but this one works perfect with the sweet-yummy honey notes and the beautiful iris. I am definitely buying one bottle for my boyfriend, I love the fact that it is like a splash cologne, so it is not overpowering at all. I am sure I will spray some to myself from time to time! It’s so delicious!

Upon further consideration, I suppose it doesn’t actually smell exactly like it, but at first I was shocked to discover that the main note in Bois d’Argent was not anise. For upon sniffing it, all I could think of are fistfulls of chewy black licorice….black licorice set upon a bed of honey-sweetened soft black leather and tobacco, true, but licorice nonetheless. Actually, I like neither anise nor leather in fragrances, but I have to say this is a gorgeous, rich and elegant perfume — soft, rich and comforting — that over time I have grown quite fond of. It is perhaps not full-bottle-worthy for me at the moment, but I am certainly hankering after a decant.
As an aside, a poll on the fragrance board once asked what a perfume created for Sherlock Holmes should smell like; I can’t remember my answer, but suffice to say, I was wrong, because Bois d’Argent was the right response. The ultimate smoking jacket fragrance.

This is one of three in the Eau De Cologne collection. Here is a description of it:
Bois d’Argent
• A classic, signature fragrance inspired by 18th century traditions.
• Rich, woody fragrance with powerful and bewitching notes.
• Top notes of iris absolute from Tuscany and essential oils of incense.
• Heart notes of myrrh and honey.
• Base notes of leather.
On me, this was the most masculine of the three. All pepper, wood and leather. It reminded me of a gentlemans club. The kind of place where wealthy men go to have a cigar and a massage…..sit in overstuffed leather chairs with brass rivets and the walls are lined with mahagony bookcases filled with all the great works of literature as well as todays wall street journal. Nice for a gentleman but not for me. Just as the others it is very well constucted for what it is and definitely worth checking out. Price points are $115 for 4 ounces and $155 for 8 ounces. It also comes in a 16 ounce vat as well.
