   This is a gorgeous color, inexpensive and in sturdy packaging. I find it works much better when applied with a dampened brush than dry. The color is much more vibrant with a damp brush. The color is soft and youthful with a touch of shimmer. It blends nicely. I really like it.

   I don’t know why I’ve had this sitting in my drawer, ignored, for so long. No, that’s a lie-it’s because I have a million shadow palettes, and my singles go ignored. New Year’s Makeup Resolution: use single eyeshadows more. Done and done!

   Baked shadows are not my favorite because they can be so flaky and dry; often they have pigment, but it doesn’t want to transfer to the lid. Pixie is very pretty, but quite subtle, dry. It’s kind of sheer wash of iridescent pink.

   Now I’m someone who finds using powder shadow damp a huge PIA. But dampen your brush and pat this on, and whoa! It’s so vivid and shiny, almost like a foiled eyeshadow, but it doesn’t make my lids look crepey. I’d say it’s kind of a duochrome: somewhere between copper and warm pink. My shadow often creases, even with a primer; but with the Wet-n-Wild eye primer (fantastic budget eye primer, btw), this doesn’t migrate or crease. I’ve had it on for about eight hours and it hasn’t faded at all, which is the part that blows me away.

   PROS:
   -unique color
   -inexpensive
   -long-lasting
   -very pigmented when used wet
   -great for a single-shadow look on fair-to-medium skin tones

   CONS:
   -has to be used wet for intense color payoff
   -packaging is very basic, if sturdy

   Now I feel the need to buy all of these baked shadows from Elf. I’ve had this sitting in my drawer for a couple of years, neglected? What is WRONG with me?

   I love the ELF baked eyeshadows and this color is no eception. I do have to wear it wet to get signifigant color, but it plays very well with my NW25 skin. I like to use it as a base color. Like all of the baked shadows in this line, there is quite a bit of shimmer. so I don’t often wear it to work but it is great for a night out or a fun more relaxed day.

   In the UK we can only buy E.L.F products online, and as their online product swatches are notoriously innacurate, colour choice can be quite a lottery. On the E.L.F website Pixie looks cool pink, but I wasn’t too surprised when it turned out to be a metallic copper with a faint pink shift. I thought it looked pretty and decided to give it a go.

   Applied dry, even with primer, the colour barely showed no matter how much I built it. Applied wet the colour is an extraordinary metallic pinky copper, insanely pretty but does not play well with my eye colour and skin tone. If you have cool, pale skin the colour Pixie may not be for you. It is very buildable used wet and you can get quite a pop, but I had to work hard on it and it was quite difficult to apply evenly, even with decent brushes. I have no idea how well it lasts because I haven’t worn it on my eyes long enough to find out.

   All was not lost however, as I have discovered that this stuff is lovely as a bronzer/blush. It is shimmery, so be sparing and beware the disco ball effect. You get a lot of product for your money.

   I know I will not repurchase in this particular shade and feel slightly nervous of trying others because if they all pull as warm as this one (and on the website, you just can’t tell) I won’t be able to wear any of them.

   So in short: Applies to a lovely metallic sheen when wet, little colour payoff when dry, difficult to apply/blend, colour on the website not true to colour in the pan… until I can see these shadows in the flesh I doubt I’ll be taking a chance on others.
