Someone below mentioned that the color of this changed, and I agree based on the pics I see here. It has never looked red on me, however it is a gorgeous hot coral pink that had me staring at my nails the whole time I had it on. Although neon nails are traditionally a summer thing, I think that this color makes a great statement nail with the navy and black clothes of Fall and Winter.
I used 3 coats with no white base and a glossy topcoat and it was opaque enough for my taste. My nails were nubbins when I had it on, so no VNL.
I love the name. Sometimes I feel like a Rose Among Thorns.

A very orange-ish red, or a deep coral if you prefer. Definitely neon, especially in the sun. Ridiculously sheer and streaky – I still have VNL after 7 coats over white undies.

Rose Among Thorns is a megawatt bright cerise pink, and is one of those cerise shades where the red undertones hide in certain lighting, and is much more vivid in others. Like the rest of China Glaze’s [pre-Electric Night collection] neon polishes it dries matte and it does look a bit rough when dry, but one layer of topcoat smooths it all out.
Most of the photos online show Rose Among Thorns as a orange-tinged red, but my bottle [bought this year] is definitely a pink-with-red-undertones; China Glaze have altered the formulas for their classic neons like Flip Flop Fantasy and Pool Party, so have they changed Rose Among Thorns at some point?
Out of China Glaze’s huge neon polish range Rose Among Thorns stands out to me as it is not streaky when you skip the white base, which is a problem I keep encountering with their older neon polishes. However this is still a neon that really does benefit from being layered over white if you plan on wearing it alone; while a white base doesn’t effect the brightness of the shade, the formula is very sheer. I use three coats over a clear base most of the time, and you can still see vnl.
The polish is smooth and bubble free to apply, and dries extremely quickly; within one minute. Admittedly it’s not as long lasting as China Glaze’s crème or jelly based polishes, but then no other brand has matte polishes that holds up as well as their other finishes do either.

I adore this on the girl who does my hair. It’s her HG. And this review has nothing–absolutely nothing–to do with the fact it doesn’t agree with skintone, or that I used the wrong topcoat, basecoat, or whatever. I’m not going to list them all, because it will bore you.
It seriously just chipped. I could not get this polish to work.
I thinned it.
I put a white polish underneath it.
I side eyed it while it dried.
Idk, can’t even remember whatever I did, but it was ALL BY THE BOOKS and the damn thing still chipped like a mofo. However, I will still give it a 3 because I know for a fact it works like a charm for at least one person.

This is my favorite na polish color of all time! I own a TON of nail polishes and this is the one I always come back to. It’s a beautiful reddish, orangey, melon, neon color. It’s hard to describe but it is the most beautiful color. I will repurchase this for life! It dries matte so you need a good top coat to give it shine but other than that it is perfect! I’m not sure about chopping because I wear it on my toes and hardly paint my finger nails. It lasts a few weeks on my toes with a good top coat.

So this polish is gorgeous. The color is one for the books. It’s year round perfect, however it chips much faster than any other CG polish I have yet to experience. Still love it though.

I am giving this shade a 4 simply because of the color. Because this color is absolutely stunning! I love a vibrant nail during the warmer months because well – who doesn’t love to bring the sunshine indoors? This color is a straight-up neon coral, and against my warm-toned hands, it’s perfect. It’s a very unique color – I’ve not seen this color from any other brand.
My issues with this particular shade from CG is the formula. It took four coats to get it to look even remotely opaque, and when it dries, it looks like I colored my nails with highlighter. It’s got this weird not-matte-and-not-glossy finish. I wouldn’t even call it satin. It just looks like plastic. Thankfully, I ALWAYS use a topcoat with any polish, so that seemed to alleviate the issue.
I’ve noticed a lot of people talking about how quickly it chips. I just applied this last night, so I can’t say for certain that it’ll chip quickly on me, but I’m hoping it doesn’t.
Overall, I’d say that yes, I would repurchase, only because the shade is so unique and beautiful. I’m thinking layered under a gold glitter, this could look even more gorgeous. I just hope CG steps up their game with the neon shades and improves on the formula. Evidently, the sheerness and liquidity are common among their neon polishes. CG is normally a great brand, so I think they can do better.
Still pretty…
EDIT: This chipped in a day. Even with two coats of topcoat. That’s just unacceptable. Gorgeous color, hence the two lippies, but the formula is atrocious.

The colour is gorgeous, so bright and perfect for summer which is the reason I gave this a 4. It’s a bit streaky to apply, is not shiny at all you need a top coat because this is DULL in it’s finish. But the colour is soooo great for a summer pedi that it’s a must buy for me. Would repurchase.

One of my favorite you tube gurus was wearing this in a video so I ordered it through the mail. When I first saw it I about had a heart attack.. it was so much more neon looking than I had imagined! I went ahead and used it, though, and I’m glad I did. Two coats looked great, then two coats of Out The Door topcoat. Honestly, this did not chip on me for a week. I suspect it’s more because of the Out the Door than the polish, but there you go.
I hate the matte finish but that’s easy to fix with a great topcoat.
One of my favorite colors now!

I picked this up at my local Sally Beauty (here in Mexico City!) and it’s my first China Glaze polish. Had to use 5 coats on my finger nails to get a completely opaque finish over my tips and it started to chip within 24 hours :o( The colour is a very bright fluorescent red … great for summer; made my toes pop and after 5 days still looks newly done. I used a clear top coat since I don’t like the finish of this polish, looks quite dull and odd to me. I am not a great fan of matt nail colours!
This is not one I would repurchase simply because I have to use a lot of product to get good coverage which makes it peel faster.
