Earth is a deep brown coloured eyeshadow. This brown colour can easy be combinated with other colours. On my lazy days I use this as a mono eyeshadow and this is the only eyeshadow that gives me enough expression to use without the combination of another colour!!! The eyeshadow stays put after 15 hours (or perhaps even longer) on a long very warm day. At the end of the day, I had fitnessed and took two showers. My eyemakeup looked still fresh like I just applied the product. This eyeshadow can easy be used without a primer, even on my oily eyelids. It is lovely in combination with an eyeliner. And last but not least, it stays also on my lower eyelids without running and give me a fresh look. Most pencils and eyeshadows make me look like a panda at he end of the day. I am a fan and will buy this eyeshadow also in other colours. By the way this is definitely not a creme eyeshadow. It is a powder with an extreme holding power. I love it!!!

In spite of the fact that I learned a primer is needed under this shadow formulation (at least for me), I was so pleased with my first purchase from this range that I bought a second one in the shade Earth. It is a beautiful soft but deep grey/brown shade, deeper and somewhat greyer and cooler than Taupe (03). The wonderful thing about the formula of these new shadows (a cream to powder is the closest way I can describe it) is how they can be blended out from a darker application to a very soft “fade” so they’re wonderful for an elegant smokey eye that doesn’t look too goth or inappropriate. These shadows also work really well with all other shadow formulations – you can pair them up with powder shadows or with creams without the texture or formula giving you a hard time, balling up or going patchy.
For some reason, this one colour has been removed from the Canadian Clarins website. It’s not X’d out, which they do when a colour is out of stock; it’s just GONE (though it is still shown on the US site). So I figured I’d better grab it fast at SDM when they had another 20X the points event. And I am so glad I have it.
I don’t know how these shadows will last in their nice, sleek jars over time but as they’re more of a powdery type of formula (more like L’Oreal Infallibles rather than Benefit Creaseless Creams, which I HAVE had dry out on me), I am hopeful that they will last for a long time and not become unusable. But already I’m using this shadow so much for quick work-day looks that I’m likely to get a lot of use from it in the unlikely event (I HOPE NOT) that the texture does change.
