UPDATE: After using this product a few times, I’ve found I REALLY love it. It doesn’t flatten my hair anymore when I use other products with it during the day (I just don’t go overboard drenching your hair with this. The more you put in this stuff, the softer your hair will be, but I only do this at night and so much during the day). It really does help my hair look better and I use it on both dry and wet hair now. 🙂
I picked this up because I started using a hot iron my hair EVERY DAY (I have dead, useless, limp, thin hair otherwise) and my hair was getting SUPER DRY from using heat on it all the time. I’ve tried using Herbal Essences’ ‘Moroccan Me A Miracle’ 7 in 1 Hair Serum with Argan Oil to ‘smooth’ out my hair at the end of each night, but my hair was still just as dry (although the oil-based treatment helped a little, it was not enough). I saw this bottle at Wal-Mart for a great price (a little less than $6 CAD) and picked it up right away. The bottle I got says “With Avocado and Olive Oil”. Previously, I had tried Infusium23’s ‘Miracle Therapy’ Leave-In Treatment Foaming Mousse with Moringa Oil (I believe it’s discontinued now as my local Wal-Mart stopped carrying it) and had notably, good results with it in my thin, fine hair so I had a feeling this would be a great for it as well.
The bottle says you can use it on both wet and dry hair so when I first purchased this in the evening and took it home, I sprayed it into my *dry* hair right away and waited for a miracle to happen. It felt like I was just spritzing water into my hair because my dry hair was damp by the end. I noticed right away that it made my thin, fine hair flatter because this is NOT a volumizing product. I then took a curling iron and used it in my hair and… nothing. No results. At all. I was pretty annoyed and thought about returning it back.
The next morning, I took a shower so my hair was wet. I towel-dried it a bit, put in some mousse, and spritzed this into my NOW WET hair. Once again, I noticed right away that this moisture replenisher did not give volume, but NOWHERE does it say it will volumize hair, only that it will give moisture back. I also went a bit crazy overboard and spritzed A LOT of this product to make sure it got into my hair. It seemed to weigh down my wet hair a bit, but I blow-dried it some more until it was 85% dry and it looked okay once it was mixed in with the volumizing mousse. Then I spritzed some heat protectant on, then some volumizing hairspray, curled my hair, and finished it off with a texturizing, finishing spray. I noticed my hair wasn’t as volumized, maybe because I spritzed *too much* of the moisture replenisher, but my hair still looked good, mainly because the texturizing spray had a bit of strong-hold so it kept my curls at the bottom, but the top of my head could probably use a bit more volume, but at least it wasn’t flat and limp.
I went about my day as usual and it wasn’t until evening that I remembered I had tried a new product in my hair. In fact, I barely even noticed or checked my hair all this time because this moisture replenisher had done its MAGIC on WET HAIR already – it had significantly reduced the frizz, made my hair SIGNIFICANTLY SOFTER, AND looked like I had JUST stepped out of the salon with my hair done – my hair looked really fresh and clean like it was just washed, blow-dried, and styled! It worked after all – but only on wet hair! It evne made my split ends softer, haha. So I’m definitely keeping this bottle now since it made my hair so much SOFTER (my hair was really dry and fried from curling it all the time before). I”ll also spritz a little less next time and not overdo it like did this time, which weighed down my hair a bit at the ends.
I only took one lippie off because it doesn’t work as well on dry hair (like it said it would). It also made my thin, fine hair a little flatter (probably because it’s putting A LOT of moisture back into my hair so it’s clinging onto the strands, but I guess that could be resolved by using WAY STRONGER hairspray, and if you wait until your hair is COMPLETELY dry after spritzing this in and before using the curling iron). However, I can’t complain about a little flat hair when this product makes my ENTIRE hair feel SO SO SOFT and healthy again. Otherwise, this is a really great product for the amount you’re getting, the price you’re paying, and the above-decent quality you’re receiving in your hair. I also love that it’s so easy to use the spray bottle! And oh, it’s so much easier using an oil-based serum for my hair treatment at night now!

I use this instead of detangler (unless my hair is super knotty) and it seems to work great! I’ve been using it for over a month and a half and have noticed my hair is less frizzy. It smells really nice. The only downfall is how runny it is- I only use it when my hair is wet (even though they say you can use it on dry hair). If I try to use it on dry hair it just re-wets it.

This product makes my relaxed hair feel like butter

So far I think this is the only leave in treatment that comes close to Joico for what I want:
shine
static control
light, weightless
conditioning and moisturizing with regular, tried and true ingredients
(this is the olive and avocado oil one I am reviewing)
the nice part? 1/3 the price at a walmart or superstore in Canada
the ingredients I think are no better or worse; its’ not natural, I see that, but I have yet to find a natural leave in product that satisfies. Using oils is nice, but i prefer to do that at night, in copious amounts, and wash out in morning on a night I know I am going to shampoo the next day.
Side note on why I am seeking a leave in: I shampoo more than I used to because I am trying to heavily condition my hair to repair it and it requires washing it out. Sounds a bit counter productive, I know. Actually, I have sometimes just scooped up a very coconut oil soaked mane into a top knot and said fuck it, if the beautiful Indians can do this (and not wash it out) so can I! It looked like that quite trendy wet look and shined like the sun, so what’s not to like? LOL
But I was into that once every 10 days shampoo thing all last year and really, I don’t know that it was a great idea. My hair is very damaged and broken, and no, it is not diet; my nails are amazing and long and strong and skin is not unhealthy. I probably didn’t condition and treat it enough.

This product is amazing! I love how much it hydrates and tames my damaged hair with it making it oily. I have damaged hair from bleaching and I use it almost every say. It leaves my hair soft, smooth and looking great! It has a distinctive smell to it that I like and the best part as I said before is that it does not weigh your hair down. Love it!! I think it would work great for all hair types but it’s even better for damaged hair.

I have fine, thin hair and I want to like this… but you have to put it in a spray bottle first, and spray lightly over your hair but not on the ends. When it gets on my ends my hair TANGLES badly. Do not soak your head in this stuff.

I really don’t like this. It is very watery making it hard to use without dripping on the floor. I have to use a lot to see any effect at all. It doesn’t leave my hair feeling moist, in fact it got very dry while using it. I used it daily for about a month and my hair did not like it at all.

i like this leave in for my roller sets. Normally i mix this with water in a spray bottle while setting my hair. I feel that it helps to detangle my hair.

The only thing that could have made this better was if it was in a spray bottle like the old Herbal Essences Leave-In conditioner *drools on self at thought of that smell* however this one works TWICE as good! I squirt it all over my dry, damaged, bitchered, haystack-looking, tortured ends after I get out of the shower, and brush my hair and fall asleep. in the morning the ends (and the rest of my hair) are sooooo soft! Pliable even, not stick straight and obviously in need of help like usual. LOVE it and the smell – TO DIE FOR!! It’s available at Wal-Mart for the price of a Pantene product.
