so I bought this on sale at Ulta 2 for $12 which I thought was a great deal for the amount of product you get . well after trial and trial again I’ve come to the conclusion that this isn’t for combo oily skin gals. it went on beautiful and had some great coverage compared to edm but it didn’t hold up . after about 4 hours it was breaking up on my cheeks , chin , around my nose . I tried with a primer , without a primer, as a finishing powder. it just wouldn’t hold up, it like smears and melts so where I placed my contour and blush started to look dirty and not as defined . packaging was really nice though! I would only use this for a day I need something quick when I’m not gonna do a full face but I wouldn’t repurchase

I bought this in an attempt to find a replacement for my Mary Kay mineral powder foundation, since my consultant has quit (and I got tired of waiting weeks for it to come in on an order). It’s a rather huge failure for me, and I wanted so badly to like it. It has a little extra coverage, which isn’t necessarily what I want or need, but it doesn’t last long at all. Within a few hours, it looks like a cakey/oily disaster, even with a primer….and it exacerbates the appearance of pores. I didn’t even know that I had large pores until I put this stuff on my face. It’s also way too masklike for me. I simply want to enhance my skin’s natural appearance a bit, not cover it up entirely. I’m definitely going back to Mary Kay. It may be a little harder to get, but it’s so much better than anything else I’ve tried.

This is a review of Ulta’s Mineral Foundation in Warm 1 (I’m NC15). I have well-controlled rosacea, but I still have lots of redness and oily skin, especially on my nose. My goal with a foundation is to bring me up to a “normal” skin, not an airbrushed kabuki face. I just want to look healthy, not made up.
With that in mind, literally every foundation I have tried either looks like crap immediately or falls apart within an hour no matter how light or heavy I apply. I’ve had horrible luck with MMU because it simply does not last on my nose at all. However, MMU seems to look best on me even though it barely lasts beyond the bathroom. Not loosing all hope, I bought this MMU along with Ulta’s Flawless Primer (a green-based primer), and I think I’ve found something that works. I’ve been using this MMU with and without the primer, and I have to say I’m a bit stunned that it lasts for about 3-4 hours before a touch-up. I’m on the fence as to whether the primer is helping or not as far as longevity (it helps ever so slightly in reducing redness, almost negligible IMO). The finish is satin, no glittery shit or chalkiness. I’m still working with it, but so far I’m happy and impressed. Plus the price isn’t outrageous.

I got this foundation for $5 on sale.
It didn’t control oil as well as Everyday Minerals but covered much better.
The color did oxidize a little bit but most foundation do this on my skin as I am quite oily. However, this was very slight. The texture and coverage are great and it is very easy to apply/blend.
When wearing to work, I have to touch up a couple of times during the day due to my oily skin but it was not as bad as MANY others I have tried.
I have very very fine lines under my eyes. Generally I would say they are invisible unless I have caked on make up, followed up with too much powder, let it sit and get oily for a few hours than apply more foundation on top. In other words lines around my eyes are not usually a problem for me.
Well, this foundation has a slightly sparkly additive that made every little line noticeable. Still, I like the product well enough that I would simply use something else under my eyes and continue to use the Ulta mineral foundation on the rest of my face.
It made the skin on the rest of my face look incredible. So, for the $5 it is a bargain!

Having used Bare Minerals in the past, I know what to expect. I really liked the coverage of this one better, and the color (Fair 05) was a perfect yellow-based shade for me. I didn’t need any powder after, and it didn’t look too matte, it has a healthy sheen to it. I even used it under my light concealer under my eyes with no creasing. I would repurchase even though I found the price a bit steep for a store brand.

I’ve used this foundation for awhile now, but am not 100% satisfied. I ended up getting the foundation for $5 when Ulta was having a sale. It’s worth $5 to spend on foundation, but it does look cakey. I always have to smooth out my foundation after wearing it for even a short period of time. Because I have acne prone skin, I tend to have to do more than a light sweeping of the foundation which is also another reason for it looking cakey. If you are looking for a light coverage, I would recommend this powder, otherwise probably not. I do however like the price and is why I would continue to buy it (even if I have to smooth it out).

No problems with the foundation itself as far as coverage or color goes. Was looking for an inexpensive replacement for my PurMinerals foundation, didn’t like the price of BareMinerals, their colors are all too yellow or too light, and they made me break out after a couple uses, and sadly, so does the Ulta. I can wear it every other day if I switch out with my PurMinerals foundation, but if I wear the Ulta more than two days in a row, I start getting gigantic, painful pimples. Like the horrific kind I haven’t had since I was sixteen, and went on Accutane for…so yeah. Sorry Ulta, I really wanted this to work, but I won’t buy this again. For the price, it’s worth a shot if you don’t have super-sensitive skin. However, I do. If you do have sensitive skin: AVOID. 🙁

kinda expensive but it is worth the money. very comparable to Mac foundation. the brush is ok, it sheds like crazy. but you could always use the brush for touch ups or to keep in your makeup bag for emergencies

Probably the best powder I’ve tried so far. When I bought it, I had little hope and, really, I’m surprised. I do not have too many pimples, but I have very large pores and oily skin. It covers enough, leaves a matte finish, but not dry or fake. I use it with the POREfessional primer and my skin looks soft and fresh. As for the packaging, the mirror at the top is great, but the makeup is a bit awkward to use.

I’ve been using the MK Mineral Powder Foundation for a few years. It really is my go to makeup product. I like the light feel and the fact that it does not look caked on. It gives my face a nice even tone without clogging up my pores. I use beige 1, my daughter uses ivory 1. Both match us perfectly.
With a good makeup brush (I use MK’s) it goes on evenly and I do not need to touch it up during the day. I have to remind myself to tap out the brush, or I end up with wasted product on the counter 🙂 It is on the pricier side, but I gladly pay it.

This is the only mineral powder foundation that I’ve ever liked. It’s the only one with a shade fair enough to suit my skin tone, it’s matte, it’s long lasting….I never have to do any touch ups, my natural skin shines through (no masklike appearance), it doesn’t break me out, no cakey oil disasters. It’s great! I haven’t found a single thing to replace it, though I’ve tried. I just don’t like the fact that I can’t just go down and grab it at some store, and it seems like a lot of work and effort to get it through a consultant. Maybe I’ll try their website…

I really do love this product. I actually can’t believe I haven’t posted a review on it already because I have used it for almost 2 years. It is a very nice powder foundation. The best thing about it for me is that it does not break me out. It has a mild smell, but it is it not that noticeable in my opinion. It doesn’t oxidize. The only thing I wish could be different about it is the bit of shimmer in the formula. I hate shimmery foundations, but the shimmer in this product is subtle enough for me to put up with. It gives medium to full coverage when worn over a concealer or liquid foundation. It has a very matte finish which I love, the packaging is great, and it isn’t that expensive. It’s between drugstore and high end. I will probably repurchase this in the future.

Another fail in the powder foundation department for me. It goes on nicely and color was easy to match but came out a little lighter on than in the compact. No breakouts it just did not control my oily t-zone and I felt like I had to really pile it on for coverage. Won’t repurchase.

If you need sheer foundation, this is perfect. It helps to even out your skin tone in just a few brush applications. You’ll also find a colour which matches your skin.
Personally, I need something with a bit more coverage so it’s not something I would purchase again.

I have used Erno Laszlo shakeit for years and it helped to control my very finickey,sensitive, acne prone skin.However, as i have aged my skin seems to have become sensitized to it, and I have little red bumps appear after using it. Desperatley searching for a new HG foundation,I tried Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid, recommended by barbH and MegE.The Invisible fluid was fine,in that I did not have an allergic or acne reaction to it, however, it just didn’t cut it in making my face look smooth and clear.It showed every bump and imperfection. I tried Cover fx mineral foundation(the old formula with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide( and no bismuth)as Rowenah had reviewed it very favourably.Bingo! This is one great foundation!!I have had no reaction to it, and it makes my skin look just perfect,smooth, almost poreless, calm and even.It is so good that it doesn’t look like I am wearing a foundation.Love it!!!

I can’t believe I never wrote a review for this product! I’ve been using this line for years but just recently started to use the foundation. I hate liquid foundation but the couperose aka broken capillaries on both my cheeks have gotten worse with age to the point that just a basic cover up stick wasn’t enough anymore. This powder covers them perfectly without looking cakey! I only use this very sparsely on the remainder of my face since I use mineral veil as my finishing powder. If you don’t need too much coverage I would suggest this.

Quite dissapointed with this product. I had high hopes because my skin loves bare minerals’ products however this product is not for me. I must say it did NOT break me out, which anyone would love, but with my oily combo skin I was an oil slab an hour after applying. While applying this product I did fall in love (bare minerals primer did not make any difference), the foundation gave light coverage (not for anyone suffering redness), evened out skin tone and did not stick to dry patches or irritate my blemishes/pimples. It is an extreme hassle applying, so messy! Powder flying everywhere! And within an hour as mentioned, i was let down. Oily everywhere and it was basically as if all the powder flew off my face or something..no coverage or evened out tone anymore, reapplication was definitely needed. Even after I re-applied I could not get as matte as I would like. I would recommend this for someone with normal or dry, non problematic skin. will not be repurchasing.

Ok I’ve searched high and low for a great mineral powder as an alternative to liquid foundation. I tried this product in light medium (illuminator version) and thought I loved it but then I looked closer and I swear it made me look like the pores of my skin near my cheeks were fairly big and noticeable – yikes not the look I was going for! I thought the starter pack seemed like good value as you get the brushes and the 2 powders and bronzer. No other foundation or mineral powder I’ve tried has accentuated my pores like this. I actually didn’t think, actually am positive, that I don’t have big pores. I have to say it’s a shame as it looked good unless you got up close. So I guess this product would be better suited to wear at night! After much thought it was a no go. I’ve gone with Laura Mercier’s version and so far I really like it. After researching best mineral brushes the best reviews were regarding the Everyday Minerals flat brush so will let you know once I get it in the mail! I also tried Nude by Nature mineral powder and that wasn’t bad but felt I looked a bit orange.

I purchased the Bare Minerals kit in March of 2012 after searching forever for a new foundation. The girl at Sephora raved about how great it was and how it was their #1 seller. I felt like I had to apply so many layers to get any kind of coverage and the itchy feeling that comes when you go outside with it on is horrible! My skin gets oily throughout the day and this made it worse x10! I think if you have more dry skin it would probably work better but it’s def not for me.

I’ve been using this makeup since I was in the 5th grade. I’m now a sophomore, and have used it ever since. Now that I am getting older and have acne prone, oily, sensitive skin with redness around my cheeks. It’s sadly not as full coverage as I would like, but it is the only thing that I have tried that hasn’t broken my face out. This product is is great on my sensitive skin. Coverage was light to medium however not very build able without lookin Cakey.
I definately feel like it makes me look older and not in a good way. My skin is nice and smooth and this foundation really dries me out.

I really like this powder foundation! I use it on days that I don’t have time to do my whole make-up routine and I’m impressed with the coverage and lasting power. It’s a nice sheer to medium coverage and seems to last the whole work day.
I’ve tried using this to set my liquid foundation and as long as I use a little, it works fine. If I use too much, I get a much fuller coverage that I don’t like. Really, the only minus is that it can get messy/product is lost easily since it’s a loose powder. However, I will repurchase because the price and quality is worth the messiness!

I used nothing but bare minerals for a year and a half. Sick of spending an arm and a leg I tried out ulta minerals for a change. I am super happy and satisfied with their product, it’s a definite dupe of bare minerals that lives up to it’s claim. While the particles aren’t as fine, it still has very good coverage. I like dusting this over my bb cream when I have a very long day ahead of me or want more coverage. The color fair 01 and fair 03 both fit me great. It’s wise to use a powder brush for this one since my flat top kabuki can apply the product on too thick and make me look cakey.

being a powder fohndstion, it gives sheer coverage, but when I build it up or apply it over liquid foundation, it doesn’t give that powdery cakey look!
I like the packaging. it’s simple and look a good on a vanity. most importantly, it has the sifter-lock for travel or when you’re not using it! I have easily pryed the top of the container off to get to the very last but of powder haha
mary kay shades match me really well and the shades are just really pure. they’re not too pink or too yellow…unless you order a shade that is meant to be that tone.
there’s no mix up of color, no weird sparkle in it, it’s just pure makeup which I love!
I am normally not a fan of mineral makeup because of the mess and lack of coverage, but for some reason I like this!
I feel like mary kay skincare and face products are great quality! I usually pass on eyeshadow and lip gloss, but their skincare is fantastic, foundations and phenomenal, I love their lip treatments and a couple lipsticks.
This is just good, pure powder!
It doesn’t make me break out like bare minerals and many other powders did. this is far superior than bare minerals in many aspects.

I was not expecting much from this powder but it’s really good. I feels light on the skin yet it has very good coverage, almost like the Mac studio fix powder minus the break outs. This does not make me break out at all. It covers my acne scars very well and evens out my skin tone quite nicely. I was matched wrong (beige 1) which is too dark but I like to use it in the summer when I’m tan. I wouldn’t repurchase because they don’t have a shade that matches my skin tone well I wish they had a bigger selection of colors, they don’t appear to have any for yellow under tones.

I’ve tried neutrogena, physician’s formula, bare minerals and other loose powders, and the powders are either too chalky, cakey or pink based for my skin. This powder matches my skin tone and feels like air.
I get cystic acne from time to time (ahem, hormones…) and this makeup does not make it worse. It has not caused a breakout.
It’s expensive, but you get a lot of product, and it lasts a long time. Buy a good powder brush (I like sephora synethic multitasker #45) that will apply it evenly.
Really, my only complaint is the price.
