I love texturizing spray.
I am not sure if my favorite is the Bumble and Bumble Dryspun Finish or the Oribe Texturizing Spray.
But I am sure that this is not as good as either of those.
I love the gardenia scent that this has–it’s wonderful. Also, Redken’s stuff tends to smell like hot garbage, so I was really impressed that this was pleasant.
It does volumize your hair, but it also leaves it sticky so that you must wash it later in the day. It also doesn’t puff your hair for the full day. It was a bummer to have sticky flat hair at the end of the day.
Not great, but the best Redken product I have tried.

Ugh. I have a choppy new haircut and have been experimenting with texturizers. I have never disliked a Redken product and there are quite a few that I love, so I was excited to try this. So I sprayed it on my hair and was immediately sickened by the stench. It’s like 80’s white flower/heavy perfume/cheap air freshener! Like a room filled with knockoff Giorgio potpourri! My hair looked and felt nice, but after an hour of enduring the offensive smell, I had to go wash my hair and throw my shirt in the wash. Thankfully, it was in the pm, not am, and I was able to wash. I have no idea what the folks at Redken were thinking. A terrible smell is not something you want in your hair, is not good for your relationships, and renders an otherwise good product useless.

Wind Blown is a dry texturizing spray that adds heft and grit and gives me that tousled sexy bedhead look. I air dry my hair overnight and use a curling iron in the morning to create loose waves. I then run my fingers through to loosen up the curls and then spray Wind Blown to create some texture so my hair will have that “I woke up like this” look. The spray comes out in a torrent (which is I guess what they mean by “wind blown”, lol!) and does make my hair go every which way. I spray some on top and underneath and just a few spritzes is all it takes, otherwise if I spray too much, my hair becomes a tangled mess. I’ve tried other dry texturizing sprays (Fructis Texture Tease, Sexy Hair Spray Clay, Beyond the Zone Vamped Up) but none of them work quite as well as Wind Blown. Texture Tease is OK if you’re on a budget, but there’s not much product in the can so you’re not getting as good a deal as it appears because you’ll use it up quickly. It does add some light texture but it won’t give you a true bedhead look. Spray Clay is actually pretty good and is on par with Wind Blown, although it’s been hard to find for me. Vamped Up is about like Texture Tease with maybe a bit more grit. Out of all of these, I like Wind Blown the best. My only complaint is that if you spray too much, you can’t get a brush through it the next day. So I’ve learned to err on the side of caution and spray a little at a time until I get the desired effect. For updos, any of the sprays I mentioned work well so I’m saving Wind Blown for wearing my hair down. It does have some minimal hold, although I do use a flexible hold hairspray over it (I like Carol’s Daughter Monoi h/s or for drugstore Got2b Mindblowing h/s) just to make sure my hair stays in place all day. As far as I know, Wind Blown is a new product and I can’t imagine any other dry texturizing spray working any better. It’s pretty awesome and would be great for adding heft to fine hair (just don’t over spray it). It smells kind of floral but chemically at the same time, however, the scent disappears almost immediately. Wind Blown is also easily washed out, even with sulfate free shampoo. It’s a reasonably priced spray when you consider that the very popular Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray is $42. Wind Blown is about $17. I’ve used both and can honestly say I couldn’t tell the difference in a blind test. So don’t waste your precious pennies on Oribe. Wind Blown works just as well and is less than half the price. I highly recommend this product for anyone who wants that beachy tousled sexy bedhead look. That’s exactly the effect I get when I use it and I get compliments on my hair all the time. The only reason I’m giving it four stars is because you have to spray it just enough and not overdo it and it’s a bit tricky to get the hang of at first. But once you’ve mastered it, it’s a gem. Try it!! I’m sure you’ll love it.
