Firstly, I’ve read a few people saying it left their hair feeling “like straw”. This is a result of the fact that Lush shampoos (and conditioners, too) have no silicone or silicone-based ingredients in them, which is the main ingredient within shampoos and conditioners that make your hair feel soft – it is merely an illusion of softness. All shampoos will strip your hair of its natural oils to a degree, that is the PURPOSE of shampoos. Conditioners exist to return moisture and oils.
Secondly, I disagree with those saying it makes their hair feel dry. After one use of Blousey, I found my hair immediately felt softer after washing out, which is quite unique to Lush shampoos for the reasons I mentioned above. I attribute the softness to the bananas, cupacu butter, and cocoa butter.
Yes, it does take a while to lather, but that’s due to the fact that it’s 50% banana! I’ve learned that with Lush haircare, you have to look at it with an open mind, as they’re quite different from mainstream haircare products as a) they don’t FEEL the same, and b) they’re usually more beneficial for your hair in the long term as they don’t have damaging ingredients in there, too.
I was a fan of the smell, too. It doesn’t smell like bananas, it smells a little spicy because of the star anise and cloves in it, as well as a liiiiiittle bit floral because of the rose oil!
To summarise, I’m a big fan of Blousey ’cause it leaves my hair smelling fab and feeling super soft.
(Oh, also, I’d probably recommend this to those with drier hair types, e.g. dye damaged, curly hair, etc)

I have bleached hair. I went into a Lush store for the first time and I told the lady that I needed something to give my hair some TLC, and she immediately brought me over to Blousey. With all of the nourishing qualities the lady told me it had, I expected my hair to be silky smooth and happy after using it. Nah. This stuff is seriously awful. The smell is overwhelming, first of all. Very floral, but not in a good way (although, to be fair, afterwards your hair doesn’t smell like it does in the shower. It actually has a decent after-scent). But the worst part is that it made my hair feel like STRAW! I’ve used it 4 times now, giving it a chance and changing up the way I use it, hoping to get a better result each time. But no matter what I do, my hair comes out in a rats nest, feeling more dry than I’ve ever felt it. Non-stripping? I don’t think so. Say goodbye to your natural oils! Afterwards, I have to use HEAPS of conditioner to get it back to a brushable condition. This shampoo DOES lather, but dear god you have to use a lot of it to get a good lather going. Plus, it leaves little seeds in my hair that are hard to rinse out. And at $25+ for a tub of it, I’ll be out of it in no time if I keep using enough to get a lather. Will not repurchase, and honestly, I’ll probably never buy a shampoo from Lush ever again after what this quote/unquote “miracle product” did to my hair. Such a bummer.

Blousey is my go-to at the LUSH counter. I love it so much, it’s my favorite shampoo.
It’s really not about the lather. Lather dries your hair out, and that’s likely one of the reasons this shampoo is not intended to lather. I think if your hair feels dirty after using it, you aren’t using it correctly. I’m a lady who likes to go many days without washing, and I’ve found that out of all the shampoos I use (I’m a bit of a junkie), I can go the longest by combining Blousey with a good dry shampoo (BLOW Faux Dry is my favorite).
So, my method, if you want to make this shampoo work for you: Take a small amount and spread in your palms. Immediately target your scalp, not your hair, on top of your head. Repeat with small amounts down the back of your head. I can do this with two small scoops from the jar. Then, massage your scalp. Remember: your goal should be to clean your scalp, which is what causes the rest of your hair to get oily. Once you’ve given your scalp a good massage, wet your hair a little bit and let the shampoo suds up. THEN use those leftover suds to wash your strands. If you have long hair, you might want to take one more small scoop and massage down through your hair. Don’t expect much lather. Then, finally, rinse.
BTW I have fine, thin hair but LOTS of fine, thin hair. It’s very long; hits below my bra strap in the back. So–it’s in my best interest not to wash my hair with something really drying. And that’s why I love how gentle Blousey is.
The smell is pleasant, but I am not the type to get all bent about scents. I would say the smell is pretty natural, likely because of all of the (expensive) essential oils in the shampoo.

If you have severely damaged hair this product is amazing for you. I have thick, long and coarse hair that has been through many bleaches and I cut it once a year. This was a life saver for my hair! It does lather if you do it right. My technique is to start at the top of your head and create a lather, then grab the end of your hair and mix it with the lather. This shampoo gets all the oil out, smoothens your hair and smells amazing even days after the wash. Definitely a favorite for my frizzy thick dry hair!

I loved this shampoo, but it was very heavy and left my hair very limp. I would have greasy looking hair by the next day. The smell is fabulous. Warning – it doesn’t suds up like Big….I guess it’s modeled after a conditioning wash like WEN

Did not like this. No lather – I felt like I would have needed to use heaps of product to distribute through my long, thick hair. I tried to massage it in and ended up with a ratsnest of knots and tangles. And when I rinsed it out, I could not remove a feeling of sticky dryness (it’s a thing). I ended up rewashing with my Cynthia Sylvia Stout.
Also not a fan of the scent or the packaging – I don’t like the screw tubs in the shower.

I received a sample at the local Lush store. The SA said it would be enough for 2 shampoos. I didn’t believe him. I have hair past my shoulders and it is thick. I hate washing/styling my hair and I need a hot shampoo guy to do my hair! I wash it maybe 2-3 times a week and I’m always lazy about it on the weekends. I used half of the sample I was given and I was surprised that it cleansed my color-treated hair pretty well and also removed all of the oil buildup. The only thing I didn’t like was how my hair felt dry after rinsing this out. But it was nothing that It’s a 10 leave in treatment couldn’t fix. I think I’ll be purchasing the full size and next I’ll have to sample their conditioners to see what works best.

tried this once, off the sample and I have to say I absolutely looooooved what it did to my hair even after just one use.
Unfortunately, my problem with it, as with almost all other LUSH products I try and fall in love with, I can’t bare the smell….just can’t…this one is almost asphyxiating…I went to bed with my hair still wet and I couldn’t fall asleep I hated the smell so so so much.
When I smelled it in store it smelled fine so I decided to take a sample. And I told myself you know what? even for the price, it’s worth it if it works and can manage to bring life back to my hair. I was so dissapointed when I found out it did just that but at the cost of a migraine.
It is the only reason I won’t be purchasing again and it’s really too bad because it’s an outstanding shampoo that worked wonders on this dry, damaged, color-treated hair :(:(:(:(

Blousey is a great shampoo I combined it with conditioner retread and they eft my hair smelling and feeling really wonderful. The only bummer of Blousey is that it does not lather so its kind of a really weird textured shampoo. It smells incredible! I love it the only reason I haven’t bought it again is because i combine Blousey, Retread and, R&B for my hair care routine and buying all of these products is not so cheap….

I don’t know why people say that it lathers. It does not. And though I have short, fine, rare hair, I had to use half of the sample they gave so I can work with it through the entire hair.
the result is just as bad, because it feels like using an average conditioner over unwashed, very dirty hair. After I rinsed it off, I had to wash the hair with normal shampoo and then use a huge amount of conditioner to fix it. Horrible. Really.
