This color is “everything” ladies;just wow. I kept thinking I didn’t need this since I have MAC Up the Amp which is a HG color. Men stop me and compliment me when I wear it. However upon not risk taking and getting the Rihanna Viva Glam 2 lipstick in 2014 due to the grey/mauve base this looked a little more wearable. So pulled the trigger and ordered from Barneys.com(free shipping),so don’t pay Ebay prices. I am Yellow/Orange undertone so it pulls a muted Mauve on me which doesn’t look ghastly. I will see what lip pencil I can wear with it. Color is moisturizing and opaque on one swipe. MAC Up the Amp is more pink and MAC Heroine is darker and has way more red in it. I do wish this had the same top as regular NARS lipsticks like my HG Heatwave. I am not a fan of the magnetic closure. There is no dupe for this so its worth the purchase.

Oh my god I’m so glad I pulled the trigger on getting Dominique. I’ve been obsessed with this shade since the Audacious line first came out, so for FOREVER – except Dominique was one of the Barney’s shades, and I don’t live near a Barney’s. Yes, in this modern time the vast offerings of said department store are available with just a touch of a button, but ya know, $32 for a lipstick. Mama’s got bills.
ANYWAY. Whatever, I just got it (heads up, Barney’s ships for free) and it was totally worth it. It’s the COLOR. This like, mid-tone dusty purple. It’s so perfect. It’s opaque and buildable – I’m wearing a light layer at work at this very moment (shhh, taking a quick break) and it’s totally acceptable. More layers takes it to a daytime goth level. It’s never truly “dark” though. It’s decidedly cool toned to my eye yet balanced (doesn’t turn me into a corpse). It is truly unique, edgy yet pretty, and the name Doninique suits it since I envision myself chainsmoking in a grimy Paris basement club, draining my gin + tonic, bored out of my mind, waiting for my friend to finish her shift so we can check out her new boyfriend’s band (and meet the friend he says I’ll love) (yes, I am a married mother of a toddler) (you know it’s a fantasy because gin is gross).
I enjoy the Audacious formula (I have Anita, a dusty rose) but I don’t think it’s perfect/necessarily worth the dough and honestly prefer MAC Satins and Revlon Cremes over it. I do find it easy to use, long-wearing, a tad drying. However my bottom line opinion is to only buy one if it’s a) a color you will wear a ton (Anita for me) or b) a truly gorg undupe-able shade (Dominique).

Third of the 3 lippies I own from this line. This on me is a mid tone Lavender but with a Grey undertone. So it can make some people’s teeth look more yellow. so if that’s an issue for you or if you have not had luck with the grayish toned lippys this maybe one to by pass. The only way to buy this shade is on the NARS web site and I had to stalk the site to get this as it was unavailable for a while. I do like this look and it goes right along with my Bite Beauty lippy in Cava. Great neutral to wear with more dramatic or Smokey eyes or brighter cheeks. I do have mature skin but I have pretty good color so this doesn’t wash me out if I’m wearing richer toned eye and cheek looks.
The formula is great creamy and stays pretty good with minimal eating and drinking. I’m actually not a big fan of the magnetic top as mine pulled off a couple of times in my purse and almost causing an expensive accident. So I’m VERY careful where this one is placed.
Would/will I buy it again? Oh YEAH you can bet your life on it.

NARS Audacious lipstick in Dominique is a dark purple mauve color. Much darker after applied than it would appear to be from the color in the tube (I’ve found this to be true of most all the Audacious collection). It’s a matte-creamy finish. Non-drying, doesn’t bleed, and is definitely long lasting. It is definitely a unique color. Nothing else I’ve tried is quite like it. In the same vein of of MAC Up the Amp, but darker and more of a dark blue-purple undertone, compared to the red-purpel of Up the Amp. Pairs great with a dark smokey eye, and pale skin. More of an evening formal color… not an everyday daytime or casual color. If your a fan of purple lipsticks, check it out.
